black & blue UPDATE
🕑 Added 2024-12-16 13:19:51 +0000 UTCEnglish: Hurray, an update! :D It took a bit longer than usual because TWO people close to me had birthdays and... as an artist, you almost have to pick up the pencil :,D As I already wrote in the chat: If you like, you can see the artwork that caused the delay, among other things, in the MAUScloud under most recent artworks. At least you get something out of it! :3
AND there are 5 pages today instead of 4. YEAH!
What's more, there's even something like CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Can you believe it?! Since Gogo has resolved to change in the last volume, we are now seeing the first signs of a transformation. He is the only one in his family to speak out against Gera's unbearable self-denial of her situation. This may not seem like a big deal now, but for Gogo it is a GIGANTIC development. No matter how good or bad things have been for him in the past, one thing has always remained the same: he has been a passive observer of everything that happens to or around him. Was the abuse by Davido to blame for this? Probably.
As a result, he always felt different, damaged and less valuable than others. A person whose opinion and participation cannot achieve anything good because he regards himself as something bad. So Gogo subconsciously always thinks that not only does his opinion not count (his limits were all ignored by Davido), but that expressing it is also useless because he is... a nobody. Right at the beginning of the story, for example, there was a scene in which he didn't even want to defend himself against Pjotr and Igor when they had pushed him into a corner in an alley. :,D That's how far his passivity went.
Now a new development is slowly beginning, in which Gogo realizes that his voice carries weight and that he... low and behold... feels somehow BETTER when he stands up for others and does what is right from his gut instinct. This development starts out very small, but will get bigger and bigger and at the END... you won't recognize Gogo anymore xD
Imagine: Gogo x Andy (not like THAT, you pigs! xDDD). Picture what happens when Gogo, with his newly awakened will to fight for good, meets Andy, whose goals are... not all bad :3
By the way, with this scene, everything that I myself find tedious about storytelling is really out of the way :,D It's no secret: I find Gerda exhausting to draw. Somehow she triggers me, just as Gogo is triggered by her. Because she is partly ME. Unfortunately, I was in a very toxic relationship once and I... did a lot of things just like she did. It reminds me so much of my own behavior influenced by that relationship.
With this scene, I also wanted to show that... no matter how REPELLENT the behavior of the victims of such a relationship is... despite everything, you should help. The shadow expresses what many people think when someone has been trapped in a bad situation for a long time: Oh, the person just doesn't want to get help. Maybe they even like being that way, maybe they're just a jerk and deserve it. NO. People with mental illnesses often behave in a way that is conspicuous and unpleasant to outsiders. But THAT is a symptom. And in this scene, Gogo has defied that inner voice that says, “This is useless, she's lost and maybe even a bad person.”
You must NEVER stop reaching out. And you should try to be honest. What Gogo's parents are doing... is well-intentioned, but they are also a bit cowardly. They should be much clearer with Gerda: Hey, we don't think this is normal, and there is something seriously wrong with Davido.”
Because when outsiders point out the truth, it is easier for the victim of such a relationship to see reality as it is again. And they have to, to get out of it. To even get the drive to do it!
Anyway: Like I said, I'm glad that's over. In the next scene, we switch to Derek. And he's going to need help from Gogo soon :D HURRAY!
I hope you enjoyed the pages despite the heavy topic!
Feel hugged!

YEAH!
Eure Maus :3
