The pirate queen turned chairwoman of Rown Company had become something of a juggernaut ever since taking over. Her business acumen was second to none. "You still have those alchemy workshops from when your brother was making anti-succubus magic potions. A lot of people get hurt in a war. There's going to be a huge demand for potions and elixirs of all kinds. Armaments, too. Rown Company has contacts with metalsmiths for their vehicles that can transition into weapon and armor smithing. To top it all off, transporting those goods and soldiers over long distances will require a fleet of carriages and wagons."

"If Arenade was around to tell me to stop, I would. But she isn't here anymore. The last thing she told me was to not let our kids become orphans. As long as Lord Charron and the Queen-Mother are around, the Commonwealth isn't safe. Which means my children are in danger. It's ironic. I might end up turning a lot more children into orphans by going to war. Does that make me a hypocrite?" Kanae asked.
"A loaded answer to what was supposed to be a yes or no… but who cares! Hypocrite or not. Life's a lot more fun this way. Maybe there is profit to be made in war." The Rown chairwoman smirked.
Armed with the backing of this side of the continent's most powerful business, Kanae had secured her greatest ally.
"Ah, by the way!" Renya slapped her thigh. "Once these legs of mine heal, I'm coming with ya."
"Oh, great." Esta groaned.

Renya nodded. "I've established Rown Company to operate long into my absence." She thumbed over her shoulder to Thedia. "I also have my right hand to fill in for the time being."

Aidenhall guards saluted as the Knights of Colors passed by. By the time they crossed the gate, however, Aisha was no longer by their side. Kanae spun around and found Aisha, sizing up the guards.
"Which one of you males are willing to bed a hobgoblin and provide me with strong children?" Aisha asked, towering over them enough to cast a long shadow.
They shot their hands in the air.

The first place Kanae brought Aisha to was the stables. Titan's stable to be exact.

Though, no one south of Artaggon had any reason to visit them except a select few.
"Wait, why does that herzulith look familiar?" Aisha scratched her head passing by.

Kanae, Esta, and Aisha returned to the surface having not found a suitable mate. They crossed paths with an unlikely duo in the corridors.
"Will! How's training?" Kanae waved.
The paladin in-training to become Knight of Azure for the humans returned the gesture. He was accompanied by Saint Priest Vestrid, whose expression clouded over upon meeting Esta's gaze.
"Tough. You lucked out. Vestrid is actually my next instructor. Her training schedules are so brutal, my limbs might actually pop off soon!" Will complained.
"You're tough, kiddo. You have your sister's spirit though. I'm confident you will inherit the title of Azure. That makes you strong." Vestrid nodded.
"Strong? I choose this one. I've made up my mind." Aisha walked Will backwards into the wall and slammed a hand behind his head.
"What? Who is this hobgoblin? I'm scared!" he cried.
Before we knew it, Aisha hoisted Will onto her shoulder and walked off.
"Where is your bed, human? We shall mate until morning!" Aisha guffawed in a much brighter mood.

Kanae saluted in Will's direction. As a paladin, at least he could heal himself if Aisha got too rough. All's well that ends well.
"Was that okay? Were you two training?" Esta asked.
"We had just finished for the day and were on our way to the dining hall. No matter. More importantly, Estaline, I was hoping to give this to you." Vestrid's gaze settled firmly on her drakeling kin and handed over a letter.
When Esta took it, she read all but one line and gasped. Kanae tried to get a glimpse but only saw an inked image of a dragon's skull.
"This is from my mother… She is demanding that I return to Rotandrix?" Esta searched Vestrid for answers.
"I received a letter from my own family as well, asking the same. They, more than anyone and especially your mother as a former Knight of Silver, know that we are bound to Aidenhall by our duties. Whatever reason they have to demand so strongly that we return… it can't be good," Vestrid explained ominously.
Esta might have to leave? Kanae shuddered. She turned to her loyal knight, who was staring right back.
"You're going to leave me, too?" Kanae asked.
"I…"
"Estaline." Vestrid placed a hand on the shoulder of her junior. "I intend to stay. I had made up my mind ever since Loyal Fixation declared Analise as my lord. Amethyst is yours, isn't she? Whatever choice you make, do not waver. For I fear whatever comes soon may shake the very foundations of our beloved Radevic and shape the next thousand years."
Kanae and Esta were the only ones to remain in the deserted hallway after Vestrid departed. The silence was deafening.
"Esta, what did Vestrid mean by that?" Kanae feared how her loyal knight might answer.
"There are two times in our history that drakelings have ever recalled their brothers and sisters back to Rotandrix. Each time, a war soon followed. There's a reason my race is among the few that high elves regard and keep close. They want as many of us to imprint Loyal Fixation on them as possible. My mother is no exception. She is loyal to a high elven lord of Ortesia. It may be the same for my siblings as well…"
Which meant if Esta didn't want to possibly fight against her own family, she would have to go back and join them. Kanae gripped the side of her own arm. She bit back the urge to beg Esta to stay. Loyalty Fixation would make that decision for her, wouldn't it? After losing Arenadae and Edina, what if…
"Why do you shake, Master, when you need not worry?" Esta breathed fire on the letter and let it fall to the ground where it continued burning. "Perhaps it is my own failing for not doing more to prove that I am and will forever be your knight."
Relief washed over Kanae. Her doubt vanished and was replaced with resolve.
"It's not you. After everything that's happened, I started losing faith that I could hold on to anything or anyone. No matter what comes, we'll face it together. Tomorrow is Arum Taum. What do you say we head home for tonight? I'll have Gretchen whip us up something to eat," Kanae said.
"I would like that, Master. And… Do you perhaps still have Renya's Mirror Image? N-Not that I have any ulterior motives. I'm simply overcome with curiosity," Esta mumbled quietly.
"For another fourteen hours." She winked.
