PLEASE READ AND ADHERE TO THE USAGE REQUIREMENTS BELOW BEFORE REPORTING ISSUES!!!!
It's finally here, sorry for the long wait! This update is fairly simple, but the new features took a ton of research, fine-tuning and adjustments to ensure they work well in all situations. Of course, I'm talking about the new sky and clouds! Please keep in mind that they're band-new features that I still want to put a lot more work into. Unfortunately, they turned out to be a little heavier on performance than I expected them to. Of course, you can turn them off.
I also put in a lot of effort into optimization into this update. Each performance improvement and new feature is more advanced than the last, so at this point of the project, sometimes it takes a lot more work to get the same kind of gains. In this case, performance may overall be slightly worse with clouds enabled and default settings. The potential gains come with using high resolution resource packs with Full Raytrace Reflections on. So, depending on the situation and your settings, you may see a speedup or a slowdown.
Here's the changelog:
- Rough reflections now lookup a lower resolution version of block textures, leading to improved performance with Full Raytrace Reflections: On
- Completely redesigned sky and clouds
- Clouds now contribute to reflections and diffuse GI
- Added options controlling clouds into a new options section: Atmospherics Options
- Moved Atmospheric Godrays option to Atmospheric Options
- Diffuse GI filter no longer shows a weird outline highlight around objects in front of lit blocks
- Exposure can now adjust to brighter scenes
- New diffuse GI filter algorithm that should be a little faster and smoother but look the same
- Ray traced reflections now use a clamped GGX distribution instead of phong
- Unlit campfires no longer give off GI light
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS FOR USING THIS SHADER PACK!
- Minecraft 1.14.4 (older version compatibility is work in progress)
- OptiFine HD U F3 or newer
- Options > Video Settings > Details > Alternate Blocks: OFF
- Options > Video Settings > Details > Trees: Fancy or Fast (Smart may break lighting)
- Options > Video Settings > Quality > Natural Textures: OFF
- Options > Video Settings > Shaders > Shadow Quality: 1x
- Options > Video Settings > Shaders > Old Lighting : DEFAULT
- Resource packs with custom block models will probably cause lighting glitches!!!!!!
Some of the currently known issues are as follows:
- Block texture alpha is not considered in diffuse GI tracing, so doors and trapdoors don't let any light through their windows currently.
- Being underwater in ravines/caves shows some light leaking, and “glowing” water fog. This is unavoidable currently.
- "Disco Floor" flickering artifact mostly seen in reflections (the new Secondary GI Samples option can help with this)
- Secondary GI bounces (2nd bounce and onward) can take a while to adapt to lighting changes
- Issues with the rendering of semi-transparent/translucent materials
- Lighting breaks often when using resource packs with custom models, a solution is being investigated!
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON GRAPHICS DRIVER ISSUES AND GPU COMPATIBILITY:
Since different GPUs can compile shaders differently than others, you may experience compile errors (causes "[Shaders] Error: Invalid program..." messages to appear in the in-game chat).
If you experience compile errors and you're using an NVIDIA GPU, you can help me fix them by following the steps on this page, in the "How to Report a Compile Error" drop-down section and sending me the log!
Compatibility with AMD GPUs is being actively worked on. You will still experience some minor visual bugs, and you may experience random crashing. If you experience crashing while trying to load the game or enable SEUS PTGI, try doing so first in windowed mode, with a small window.
Compatibility with Intel GPUs is not guaranteed or planned at all!

I have an NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2060 graphics card but my laptop cant get above 2-3fps. Any reason for this?
Papa's Auto
so these downloads are only for Java version right? Because I do have both versions but I would like to use it in Windows10 Version... Is this possible?
Joseph Keelagher
You need an RTX graphics card which I don't think Mac computers have?
Andy M
New to this project, having just discovered it via Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYcgZU2e2P0 . - Has anyone got this working on macOS? For now it seems unusable on a 16" MBP with macOS 10.15.4. Probably down to the AMD chipset? Just a bunch of textures displayed, with errors displayed. I can share logs if interested. - Are there any efforts to make this work with 1.15.2?

1. plegde at the teir that allows access to the downloads 2. download it in the link in this and similar posts 2.5 read the whole post, it gives a lot of other insrtuctions 3. install optifine to Minecraft from optifine.net 4. go to the shaderpacks folder in Minecraft and put the shaders zip you downloaded, in that folder. 5. select it in optifine's shaderpacks screen and wait patiently for the inevitable lag-spike to pass after a couple minutes
Abner
idk how to add it and I haven't had an explanation so I'm still having trouble
CarrionAndOn
install latest GPU and display drivers, make sure your GPU can handle it
Swiper
i have a problem where there are some black flickers on the blocks and everxtime i moove they moove also i got this bug on evry seus shader
Benjamin
well theres your problem, using mac
Chester Borrok
My screen is literally just showing a big page of block textures. I am using a mac
双畅 蒲
when will it support older versions? Optifine has been updated already.
Jorge López Tello
RT isn't working on them then. When you get far away things are not raytraced, just a circle around you for performance.
Bill Baran
Anyone know why I see shimmer from the shadows as I turn the render or shadow quality up?
LandiezyT
I Just got this today, so I don't know if the issues i'm having are from me not setting things up correctly or not, But any light source that is lower than whatever glowstone is (so end rods, and beacons) no longer emit light when i'm close up, once I get far away, they emit a very warm orange glow, similar to an older SEUS shader. Also, Campfires and Lanterns have no reflection, it's just a round orb when looking at a reflective surface. This isn't an Issue, but a question, Is there a way to make light (from and object, not the sun) change color depending on which stained glass it's shining through? I've seen that in some videos on Path Tracing shaders, and can't remember if it was SEUS, or RTX, or both.
Ice2670
No reply? Why does no one care about such an important problem?
Ice2670
Why mod lamps do not light up? Can I light them up by modifying block.properties?
Heiden Shadows
You can create specular maps and diffuse maps for textures. I don't know how exactly it works but you create a separate image with colors representing things that the shader picks up on, like red and green for specular maps. Kinda like grayscale bitmaps for terrain generation in the Unreal engine.
Heiden Shadows
This is dependent on your resource pack, but if you adjust the GI reflections to allow the surface to reflect, it'll look less glassy. However at a significant performance hit.
Heiden Shadows
Your reflection resolution impacts this, make sure your shader resolution matches your texture pack resolution. I use a 128x one and it's particularly difficult to run it like that so I have it to 64x reflections.
Heiden Shadows
First check you're not in a rainless biome. Then check your animations settings. I also find that with shaders, lightning isn't very pronounced either so just may be how it's rendered on your particular configuration.
Heiden Shadows
You need Optifine installed first, it'll put a "Shaders" folder in your Minecraft directory once you launch the game with optifine for the first time. Just like with resource packs, inside the Shaders menu there is a button that'll open up the shaders folder. Just drag and drop the .zip into the folder and choose it in the shaders menu (may require a restart of the game). With the release of 1.15, you cannot use it until Optifine updates, so 1.14.4 only for the time being.
Queef Latina
I'm not sure how to install the downloads into minecraft could someone give me an answer. Could virus protection be the reason for nothing working
Queef Latina
Do i need optifine to convert the files to minecraft?
Commander .J
I'm having trouble with rain and can't see it how can I fix this?
Tatum Feige
What are the chances of getting this compatible with 1.8.9? I'd imagine low, but is it impossible?
Samuel Eckl
I have this too. You have to put shadow quality to 1x and then it works perfectly.
Kamil Traczyk
idk why but in caves/underground it's totally bright as if it was day, you can see far away as light does not dim. day or night regardless, don't know why. PLEASE resolve <3 thank you sonic for the shaders.
Samuel Eckl
What graphics card do you have and what shader are you trying to use?
Samuel Eckl
Stratum is my favorite.
Samuel Eckl
The shimmering effect on water depends on what shader your using and I don’t think it can be changed
Arash Parsa
Am i the only one who sees very jagged edges on light through stained glass blocks?
head_robotics
What can I do to get rid of or reduce the shimmering effect that I see on water reflectivity, other reflectivity like gold, and lighting blocks? I have a RTX 2070 with 32 GB of ram. Any video settings I can tweak to get smooth rendering?
Domolosong Combak
also, which resource pack is most recommended?
Domolosong Combak
It is not working for me. I made it a zip file and put it in my shaderpack folder and it still shows minecraft without shaders. I'm doing this in 1.14.4 by the way.
Samuel Eckl
First download Optifine, then go into the Minecraft Launcher and click installations and hit play on Optifine. Download your shader of choice. Put the shader file onto your screen and make sure your Minecraft window is not on fullscreen mode. In Minecraft click options, video settings, shaders, shaders folder and put your shader file in the folder it should show up in Minecraft so now you can click it and your all set. For a low end PC I would start your shader experience by downloading Sildurs vibrant shaders, and if you have a medium to high end PC I recommend downloading SEUS PTGI. If your build world is in 1.15 or 1.15.1 you'll have to wait until that version of optifine comes out in a few months.
Stephen M. Robinson
Hey guys I’m new to the pc world. I have just finished my first build and was looking to add some shaders to Minecraft. I’m a noob and have no idea what I’m doing. Any quick reference help on what to do? Thanks!!
Aqua
Path tracing is a subset of ray tracing...
Robcabob1
I'm upset the internet called this a ray tracing shader when it clearly says path tracing. Even though I'm getting 20-35 fps, I'm loving it. great work!
joelbolz
I have a question.. Im using the Realistico Full texture Pack and its not usig the Prallax Occlusion.. Does this shader not support it ? it works fine with the old Seus Shader (non PTGI)
Chahzou
Unfortunately an old bug is back with this version which causes bright flashes when breaking blocks in a dark environment. This is very distracting while mining.
Trentindo 64
How do i turn up GI Responsiveness? Because even with screen space gi tracing turned off, I still see weird ghostly shadows of whatever I'm holding in my hand when i move around.
fona mcjimmyjimmy
is there anything im doing wrong? random textures are appearing on my screen
Sebsty
It works way better with RTX card but you dont need it to run it
Laroghant H
for this ptgi e11 we need an rtx card or nah ?
GulliUlli
is it possible to add mod blocks for myself? because i use some and the shader do not work with them#
Tyvox
After swapping optifines and rolling back rtx drivers, issue has been resolved
Tyvox
http://prntscr.com/qddsks so have any of you seen any issues like this when trying to run the shaders? It's been doing this on 8.0 and newer as far as I can tell. If you have and know a fix for it, I'll be happy to put those into effect. Only mods installed are optifine HD U E3 on Forge build 14.23.5.2768 for MC 1.12.2
Did you follow the tedious instructions on exactly which options to change before the shader will work?
Having Issues, torches / glowstone / sea lanterns aren't emitting any light but they look bright
Oleg
1.15 support is basically already out but we need optifine for 1.15
Trentindo 64
When is 1.15 support coming?
Ken
I had same issue. Solved it by matching one of the shader resolutions to the same as the texture pack.
Mark Davis
Hello I am 9 years old and looking for some technical help. I downloaded the seus ptgi v8 and 11 or the latest and I am getting a problem where all the textures are displayed on the screen and I can’t see anything. I have a texture pack that I bought recently too and it is meant for ptgi and it still has the problem. I am trying to describe the problem best as I can, and it isn’t my PCs fault either because it is running fairly fine. Any help please on what I am doing wrong.?
Mololo
Thank you very much for allowing for all realistic clouds to be removed, so we can use the actual classic minecraft clouds.
Zame
Could you possibly make this shader pack for pvp in minecraft? Lmao This one looks amazing though.
Mikhael Linnyker
Thank you! I'm a huge fan of your work, sometimes I just play Minecraft to see how beautiful is with your shaders.
Kendrisite
Thank you so much for this update!
Hisami Tachibana
Postscript: Endrod glows when Steve holds it in Steve's hand, but it doesn't glow when placed.
Ph0enixMind
My grass does not move either. I guess this hasnt been implemented yet??
Hisami Tachibana
Thank you for developing PTGI E11. However, I have the image that ShaderMOD pursues realism, and I feel that the clouds are incompatible with ShaderMOD. I liked the E10 cloud depiction. I would like to improve 3 more points. ・A problem that darkens when riding on a minecart. ・ Endrod does not shine. ・ The problem that can't see the rain on the way. I think it would be difficult to develop, but I believe that Sonic Ether can do it. Good luck.
Daniel Correia Varella
lol My favorite Shader and Texture pack on the same page! You guys look beatfull together!
Alexander Koulis
(When it's nightime and raining at the same time it's really dark and i'm unable to see, i've turned up the brightness on my pc to max and barely affects it)
Alexander Koulis
I have question, my game looks really dark when it's nighttime very hard to see and even worse when it is raining, it there a solution to fix the problem other than holding torches in game?
CargoCultLuau
Looks fantastic! Seems that I have a bit of performance boost as well :)
Heiden Shadows
Its how the renderer works, fast moving objects will leave behind a slight blur as the rays get re-traced. You'll notice a similar effect when using tools that instantly remove a large amount of blocks like Eff V diamond shovel on sand, or McMMO TNT blasts. Alternatively you could turn on Screen Space GI tracing, and max out the GI trace lengths to constantly force updates of lighting, however this is a serious performance hit.
Heiden Shadows
Yeah these entities don't emit light for me either. Might be still in the works. Vega 56 here.
Oorslavich
New cloud look sick! Turning on all the cloud stuff doesn't seem to hit performance too much either (32-33fps down to 30-31, at 3440x1440, GTX1080ti) - about 5%.
Jacques Koekemoer
Endrods / Sea lanters and sea pickels still dont work when using either a GTX 2080 or GTX2070
Robin
lighting looks a lot more natural when I use this custom texture pack mainly noticeable on the iron armor set. before it looked overexposed but I cant seem to turn off motion blur for some reason even though i have it off in the settings it still is performing very noticeable motion blur mainly. seems to be really noticeable in shadows. Great work Thanks for the updates.
Heiden Shadows
I have no performance, stability, or quality issues on my AMD Vega 56. Thank you for your hard work!
Matthew Leavitt
look nice but would texture pack where you have it?
Vanilla Punch141
is there a way for me to get water and grass to sway?
Niffle
Thank you, but we need better sNOw plEase.
Realism Mats
Thank you so much for the new features and especially the clouds, they look amazing with my texture pack pack!
G3N3ZIS
Your work has really ignited a new love for the game and inspired me to explore new artistic way to express and visualize my art
Toto
Awesome! Are there performance optimizations as well (runs a lot better in interiors on a GTX 1660)
CielMC
Sonic you are simply amazin
Sonic Ether
Thanks! I recommend this one to start with: https://github.com/Poudingue/Vanilla-Normals-Renewed
Tyler Chitwood
Hey! Just joined the patreon and the work you've released works and looks great! Just wondering; are there any resource packs you would suggest using in addition to the shader?
Patrick Schmitt
Thanks for this new version! Will test the new clouds as soon as I‘m back home. Thanks Cody for your briliant work!
