彼女の両腕は背後で固く縛られ、足首は天井から鎖で吊り上げられている。そのため、腰と背筋だけでかろうじて保たれた、危うい「座り」の姿勢を強いられていた。汗でびっしょりになった髪と肌が、薄暗い室内で鈍く光る。長い拷問で虚ろになった彼女の瞳が、音のする方へ、ゆっくりと向けられる。
その目が、入り口に立つ二人――彼女が最も信頼し、「斑鳩」の双翼とさえ呼んだ藤堂と森川――を捉えた瞬間、全てが変わった。
虚ろさは一瞬で砕け散り、そこに満ちたのは、底なしの絶望だった。それは、救いの綱を見て、その綱が自分と同じ奈落に引きずり込まれていると気づいた者の表情である。彼女の唇が微かに震えたが、声にはならなかった。その沈黙が、すべてを物語っていた。

There, in the center of the room, was their supreme commander, the former National Public Safety Commission Chairperson—Takatsukasa Eiko—displayed in a state of utter degradation and agony. Her arms were wrenched and bound tightly behind her back, while her ankles were suspended by chains from the ceiling, forcing her body into a taut, vulnerable arc. She was made to maintain a precarious "seated" position using only the strength of her back and core. Sweat soaked her hair and thin clothing, glistening on her skin. Her eyes, hollowed by prolonged torment, drifted vaguely toward the source of the noise.
But the moment her gaze locked with that of the two women at the door—Tōdō and Morikawa, the core of the "Ikaruga" team she had forged and relied upon most—a violent transformation occurred in those empty depths.
It was as if an invisible spike shattered her pupils. Shock and disbelief flooded in, only to be instantly drowned by an abyssal, utter despair. She recognized them not as a leader seeing subordinates, but as a soul plunged into the deepest hell, seeing the last two ropes that might have saved her… only to realize those ropes were already severed and being dragged down into the darkness with her.
Her lips trembled, forming no sound, yet the despair was deafening. This was not merely despair for her own plight; it was the ultimate disillusionment with the entire system she had built and trusted. That even her sharpest "sword" and sturdiest "shield" had fallen meant every effort, every strategy, every sacrifice from her past was now being declared a complete, farcical failure by the enemy in the cruelest way possible.
The low, pleased chuckle of a guard echoed in the room. The purpose of this "meeting" was achieved: it was the ultimate taunt to Tōdō and Morikawa—"Behold, where is your invincible leader now?"—and it was the final, precise blow to Takatsukasa Eiko's spirit, extinguishing any last flickering fantasy of "possible rescue" or "her work surviving."

絕望，因此不再是一種情緒，而成了她呼吸着的空氣。

The rationality that had stood at the pinnacle of national security, the despair laid bare before her subordinates — all of it crumbled like a sandcastle before a single stimulus crawling across her soles.
She could no longer be "Takatsukasa Eiko." What existed here now was merely a hyper-sensitive toy of flesh, returning predictable reactions — and she herself was the one most terrified and ashamed of that fact. Tears, without reason, spilled from her eyelids as a purely physiological response.

The overwhelming waves of tickling that assaulted her soles were now a physiological storm against which willpower was useless. She struggled frantically on the bed, shaking her suspended legs helplessly, rubbing her arched back against the surface. Ironically, even this desperate thrashing must have appeared to her tormentors as the ultimate "achievement."
The bed creaked. The ropes grated. Within that cacophony, layered the crumbling laughter of the once-imperturbable commander.

The itching in the soles of her feet was sharp and intricate, as if countless invisible feathers were simultaneously scratching the most sensitive nerve endings. The sensation crept upward along her ankles and calves, merging with a deeper, more maddening, weighty itch emanating from her buttocks.
She could no longer discern which was more unbearable. The final line of defense built by willpower collapsed utterly under this sensory deluge, attacking from within and without, from above and below. Her body had betrayed her, reduced to a mere vessel of reaction, waging a silent, violent, and futile war against its own perception within the confines of ropes and the bed.
