Sophie Halpin

Hi hamzah

serena

I keep remembering books I want to read now. Another one called Klara and the Sun. It’s about AI (ur fav) lol

serena

Omg you just unlocked a memory for me :o

serena

I’m getting so jealous of your nook. It seems perfect for curling up with a nice book 🥰

serena

I keep looking at chicka chicka boom boom and think about Kamala

serena

Hope you made it to Turkey safely! I also need to get back to my reading goal, but I’ve been in such a slump lately. Here are some book ideas: - the Harry Potter series (fuels my childlike whimsy, yes it was written by a not so great person, but you could probs find a second hand copy easily) - the song of Achilles (one of my fav books, beautifully written, Greek story retelling) - I’ve been wanting to revisit some books I had to read in high school like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley - a book I’ve never read but have been meaning to is Flowers for Algernon - also look into historical fiction! I feel like many people here also like to read. maybe having a Patreon book club could be something to add to the pod instead of advice (like once a month or so)

cory

Listen to the new chidlish gambino album!!!!!!!! very all over the place album

camryn

Didnt listen to the ep yet but SUCHHH A CUTE SET SOO CUTE!!

Avabutbackwards

Commenting because comment commented lol! Keep up the good comment!

By natalee

+1 to reading but it's scary. I have a kindle which has lowkey revolutionized reading for me, something about a screen that gets me excited to consume a story. you can link to a library card too. I wish scrolling wasn't inherently so "bad" but unfortunately we are at the whim of capitalistic business models and user behavior change as scale when we participate in scrolling- it isn't even our choice anymore as to what we're consuming. If I could scroll and know I wasn't going to be psychologically challenged by tiktok shop to spend my hard earned beans while being equipped with the financial willpower of a child, i'd give in with less of a fight.

Cass M.

i feel very similar to you and also think it’s adhd but at this point, it sounds like everyone in our generation has a little adhd ?!

summer

lowkey the twilight books are really good 😭 but idk if a man is capable of enjoying that. way less corny than the movies tho

Tess

Sam

end of the mirrored video era 😃

Sophie Halpin

Hi comment

Vickie

ik exactly what you mean I’ve been having a similar experience where I start to realize how not so righteous I am and questioning how I treat and care for others but I think that’s a very good thing and you should pursue it. Challenge the fixed identity that you’ve adopted sit with the discomfort and uncertainty.

Nes

Enough with the hawk tuah! 😔

The Starboy

Also Red Dead Redemption mentioned ! 🗣📣

The Starboy

Wow the way i mentioned Renaissance in the comment section of episode 92, and now you've listened to it. So slay of you !

jules

fsfs!! 🫶🏽 and while ur at it, check to see if they offer access to kanopy too if ur not using it yet! it’s a streaming service with an impressive selection of critical cinema and independent films (both classic and contemporary) that i can’t find in most paid platforms i’m subbed to. it’s my fav library card perk everrrr

Emily Sophia

stop i love the new setup

Peanus butter

gawd bless u fr <3 this is really cool, I hope mine offers this

lalalala

i prefer books made for pre teens to young adults cause they r much easier to read :P

lalalala

a book i think u would like is called extremely loud and incredibly close :) it’s not catered towards adults (i read it in my freshman year of hs) and it’s a really good read. it’s super sad but the story is soooo compelling and i think u would lurv it

jules

@49:50 to my library card baddies on their thought daughter grind, you can also check if your local library offers free access to linkedin learning (toronto public library does). they have hundreds of courses covering a variety of topics in all fields/skill levels, and you can even get professional certificates for eligible courses. it's a great way to explore interests/hobbies or learn something new without needing to financially commit.

read a voyage to arcturus by david lindsay!!! it’s a fiction book but with elements of a lot of non-fiction philosophical stuff. super epic book, you can zone out at some parts as well, the plot moves pretty slow but it’s really interesting

NO MORE PLEASE

jay cee houke

for the struggle with editing without music or some other form of content for your adhd brain, maybe some very quiet music in the back that doesn’t have lyrics and also doesn’t change the song too frequently, so like longer songs. video game soundtracks sometimes help with this, they also create those like longform song things for studying and focusing and stuff, like the lofi beats stuff? yk the one with the anime girl studying, i think that’s long form? i haven’t watched it in a while so i can’t remember. but anyways something like that might help! recently i used the sims 3 soundtrack (the sims i played growing up, my personal fav 😋) to help me to get done a lot of writing i needed to do, and i have horrible adhd and have the same kinda wants/needs ykwim? i hope this could be even the tiniest bit helpful in some way 👍🏼🫡

beth

sara

listening to this as i wake up like its the morning news! ☺️

kt rose

we need more realistic people in this world so don't feel bad for being monotonous if that is who you are! the people around you and how they react is what matters. if you feel like you're genuinely being a dick then you can go and ask for other people's opinions of your recent behavior. make sure you go to people that are aware that you never have any ill intentions when expressing your humor. I think you and Mandy are very similar in that way. I never really was that way until more recently. Something that I have learned in this "transformation" is that being consistently positive and welcoming can come off as fake to people who are insecure and/or cautious. I have always struggled with holding too much emotion for people/things that don't deserve it. After recent situations, I realized that people are going to use me for my emotional support even when they don't try to. By use, I mean asking/receiving and not attempting to give. Not everyone has ill intentions though when they do this. It can be subconscious, but it still doesn't lessen the impact on you. Anyway, what I am trying to get across is that the monotonous moments are what make your positive moments even brighter. If someone is constantly being happy and joyous, no one believes it because it is not possible!! When people see you, they relate because you show emotions that people are too scared to show! So when you're happy, that will encourage others to be happy! or at least feel like they have the ability to be. :) HAPPY MOMENTS BECOME SO MUCH MORE REAL AFTER YOU SHOW US THAT THERE IS SADNESS TOO! also being comedically happy is boring. we want you hamzah!

asya
