The carpeted hall seemed so much smaller as she returned with her lance, the darkness just a little bit weaker. Cerea paused nearby the first doors on either side of the hall, then moved to the section where her pile held firm.
Whatever beast had been on the other side, the door was sealed. It wasn’t getting out.
Still, the blonde knight gave it a wide birth, sticking close to the other side of the hallway and keeping her guard as high as she could.
A lance made for a poor defensive weapon. If the enemy rushed her, she’d be stuck using the blunted sides rather than the skewering lance. She couldn’t let the enemy inside of her reach.
She wanted to believe that she was on high alert, ready for any sudden attack, but it seemed like every sensation was sieged by the weight in her stomach.
Her shifting legs felt slow, brushing against the swell inside of her equine body. She could feel her body against her inner-legs, the powerful muscles squeezing a layer of fat. Inside of her, Cerea could feel the slime bubble, melting inside of her. It made her feel like she needed to belch.
Gluuuugh, her middle rumbled, quivering so heavily that the house seemed to respond. Cerea could feel the bubble rise to her throat and refused to release it. She forced it back down, swallowing the gas with another wheeze for air.
The tightness in her belly burned, rolling across her middle in waves of cresting pain. Another bubble of slime burst, causing her belly to visibly throb. The sensation had quickly passed from uncomfortable into distressing, far more than a simple case of indigestion.
Cerea felt hot, a light sweat beginning to form near her blonde brow. She tried to push the sensation from her mind, to focus on her task and search for her friends, but she couldn’t dismiss the image of the slime slowly spreading out inside of her. It made each step felt heavier.
Glugh
“Howaahhh…” Cerea groaned as another bubble burst, trying to escape. She again swallowed it, feeling the air pocket instead stretching her middle. Through half-lidded eyes she looked down at herself, seeing her pale white belly hanging beneath her chest.
She almost looked pregnant. Swollen with child rather than fattened by slime, Cerea’s stomach was round and hanging, swaying gently from side to side. She sagged over the top of her black cover, a fattened white sphere that wobbled with every step. Cerea tucked her lance beneath her arm so she could feel herself.
Her belly felt as tight as a drum, as taut as armor, and her searching hand revealed the sweat that had begun dripping from near her overstretched navel. Her fingers squeezed, shifting the contents and sending a stream of bubbles up to the surface to release an explosion of heat.
GLUGHLUGLUGH
Cerea closed her eyes, bracing herself as a loud, “Uuuuuurrrp,” fought through her lips. “Hoogh,” she groaned after, covering her mouth with one hand and the other stroking her sore belly. She dumbly licked her lips, gently reminded of the tasty carrots, and began speaking.
“Okay… Cenotrea,” the blonde woman panted. “Focus.”
Glugh, came the noise from her belly.
“What are… okay. Need to keep… moving. Need to find… others. Danger.” She closed her lips tight, feeling another burp struggling to rise up her throat, but stomached it at the expense of another throb in her belly.
Cerea coughed, blinking focus back into her eyes, and began to slowly walk towards the staircase.
Passing her barricade, the fattened knight came to a split in the hallway. Aged wooden floorboards simply merged into a flat wall of black, darkness unable to be pierced by the light. The blackness revealed nothing. No windows, no doors, not even a hint of what lay beyond. The black seemed to swirl, almost to cycle within itself just inches past the threshold. Cerea wouldn’t head into that space if she didn’t have to. Other areas were still touched by the full moonlight.
Another tumultuous howl from Cerea’s tummy caused her to shut her eyes and brace herself before losing another restrained “Urrp…” that brought her panting into a heavier wheeze.
She didn’t know if she could go on. The sweat was now cascading down her skin, making her pale color shine in the glow of the moon. Something was happening, as if the slime were knowingly stretching Cerea’s dual stomachs, and centaur was sure that she was quickly running out of room. Her second stomach seemed to hang lower by the moment, her human belly now rolling over her skirt.
Cerea leaned against the wall, nearly dropping her lance as she again swallowed another bubble of gas. Her belly flexed against her hand, a stuffed white sphere that irately wobbled, while her equine stomach continued to crawl down her legs. She felt like she was about to fall over. How many pounds had she forced into herself? Ten? Fifteen? More than that, much more than that. The slime had been trying to eat her.
Eat or be eaten.
Cerea glared at the stairs.
This territory was foreign, dangerous, and Centorea’s friends were still trapped. She didn’t know if she could go on, but she did know that she needed to.
Her hand wrapped around the hilt of her lance. Cerea lifted herself from the wall.
She felt heavy. She felt tired, but Centorea’s will pushed back the pain in belly. She forced herself forward.
The stairs were just up ahead.
Clop.
Glugh.
Clop.
Glugh.
Clop.
Glugh.
“Haaah.”
Clop…
Cerea didn’t waste a moment. With a speed she didn’t know she still had, the blonde woman’s rear legs flung backwards, catching whatever had just breathed behind her with a solid kick. She twirled, coming up with her lance as a patch of pure black recoiled from her with an alarmed. “Ouaggh!”
“Hyagh!” Cerea shouted, driving her lance forward.
The darkness churned, dashing away from the tip which then struck the wall at an angle. The black hissed at Cerea as it pulled away, floating feet from the ground and backing towards the pitched hallway.
Adrenaline silenced the mass in her stomach. Cerea stomped, holding her lance in a guarded raise. She slowly advanced, sweat now dribbling from her blonde bangs. “Reveal yourself!” she demanded. “Who are you?!”
The black made a churning sound that was becoming quickly familiar to the burdened centaur. A heinous, black slime bubbled as it drew back. Dark bubbled popping in the shine of light until, slowly, a tight body of ashen gray emerged. First an arm, then a torso, lithe gray legs and a disturbing white smile.
Then came the face and Centorea’s memory flashed.
She saw herself standing at the front door, gauntlet raised to knock when the door suddenly opened to reveal a glowing, crimson eye.
Cerea shielded her gaze as, from the sweeping black hair, dozens of red and yellow eyes opened inside of the darkness, the largest of which glowed with bloody power from the very center of the figure’s forehead.
“Ohoho,” the figure laughed in a voice as black as it was heavy. “Some part of you is still awake, hmm?”
Cerea used one hand to block her sight from the figure’s center, using her right to tuck the lance towards her chest. She recognized this beast the same way she had the gelatinous cube, but Cerea knew that this entity was one far more sinister and foul.
It was a gazer. A creature that could use magic at a level that could rival even the fae, gazers were a liminal race to be feared. Spiteful, self-confident, the creature was able to use spells from the countless eyeballs that shimmered inside of her dark cloud, but only the most powerful could come from her main eye. The crimson pupil which illuminated the darkness around her, centering directly onto Cerea’s wobbling belly.
Gazers fed off of spiritual energy, Cerea remembered. Emotions, desires, energy which fed and made their magic stronger.
She kept her focus on the gazer’s center, looking at the droplet of inky darkness that might be her belly button. “What do you want?” she asked. “Who are you?”
Ink flowed as the gazer laughed, outlining the abomination’s ghostly figure. She was small, almost skinny, but her skin was too creamy to be considered flat. Blotches of blackness trailed down her naked torso, a deep liquid which rippled across her floating mass. “Your friends aren’t so talkative. Don’t you want to go back to sleep?”
Cerea could see the sharpening pupils in each of the gazer’s shifting eyes, but she held her ground. The most powerful spell a gazer had would put the subject into complete hypnosis. But as long as she didn’t look into the center eye, Cerea could keep herself.
“What have you done with them?” Cerea asked, brandishing her lance. “Where are they?”
The gazer tittered, floating higher in the hallway. She leaned forward, the darkness swimming as she rested her face on her hands. The massive jewel that was her center eye glowed as bright as the moon. “Each of your friends is experiencing heaven,” she pined. “Don’t you want to go back to yours?”
Cerea felt the slime in her swollen stomachs buck. The taste of carrots and chocolate surfaced on her tongue, tastebuds coasting in a gentle wave. She could only imagine what ‘heaven’ was, but she tried to keep her calm.
Any emotion she showed would just make the beast stronger.
“Where are they?” she asked again.
The gazer twirled, floating closer to the ceiling. She fluttered upside down like some delightful butterfly. “I could tell you,” she said, “but wouldn’t it be more… Eh?”
Each of the gazer’s dozen eyes blinked, suddenly shifting to look inward and Cerea risked a glance at her face.
The large ruby on the gazer’s center eye illuminated a band of white string that had appeared around her neck. From behind the swirling blackness, in the pitch black of the ceiling, six scarlet garnets opened, and a familiar voice whispered, “I can show you heaven… Honey.”
Each of the gazer’s eyes swiveled to the cheerful garnets. Her mouth opened as if to gasp or to shout some half-prepared incantation, but the web tightened around her neck. The gazer vanished as she was yanked into a deeper darkness, one that was swelling with malicious laughter.
A bright scream sprang from the hallway, but it was quickly muffled, turning into straining grunt.
From the darkness, Rachnera chimed, “Awe. You had one chance and you waste it on a scream? How cute~”
Cerea swallowed. She raised a hoof to start down the hall, instead only bringing it down and lightly stomping on the floorboard. She wasn’t sure she wanted to go down that hallway. “Rachnera?” she called.
She couldn’t see the garnets anymore. They had vanished into the pitch, though she could still hear Rachnera’s breathy giggle. It seemed to grow louder as the spider-woman whispered, “I wonder if you taste as good as your sister…”
Another noise that could only be the gazer’s muffled shriek resonated from the darkness.
“Rachnera?!” Cerea called louder.
The muffled grunting faded into a low groan, slowly dimming as a much lower noise took its place. Cerea’s skin bubbled with goosebumps, the hairs on her neck standing on edge and begging her to run away.
It echoed from the darkness and seemed to bounce around the empty hallway, a wet, disturbing slurping noise, marked with a husky chuckle of feminine delight. It was the same noise that Miia would make, drooling over meat that was still being grilled.
Cerea lifted her foot to move forward and dropped it again. “Rachnera?” she asked, this time more softly.
Slowly, six garnets opened some distance down the hallway. Rachnera’s disturbing eyes made Cerea’s skin crawl, but not nearly as much as the thunderous boom that followed as the jewels dropped from the ceiling.
Cerea’s lance was shaking.
“Are you another one?” Rachnera’s voice asked, the red eyes slowly moving forwards. “Or are you really Cerea, this time?”
Cerea swallowed. “T-this time? Rachnera, where did the gazer…”
Her voice failed her as Rachnera entered the glow of the moon, belly first. A large and pale gut that looked more than three times the size of Cerea’s wobbled into view, topped by nude breasts so fat that pale flab overlapped the pink skin of her nipples. Rachnera’s front legs looked much, much thicker than they should, stretched several times over to support the fat-spider’s torso.
Lastly came Rachnera’s face, lips dribbling with black slime which her tongue still lapped, a stain that covered the woman’s fat double chin. She lifted her black claw to one cheek, another resting on her obese stomach. “Ahhhh, you are Cerea. You look far more delicious than your imposter did.”
Cerea blinked several times before, very slowly, lifting her lance.
Rachnera laughed, a much fatter, huskier voice rippling throughout the hallway. “Don’t worry, Cerea. I can see you’ve already learned the law of this place.” She gestured to Cerea’s belly, which compared to Rachnera’s now looked merely chubby.
Cerea didn’t lower her lance. “You… ate, the gazer?” she asked, already knowing but not quite believing.
Rachnera snorted. “I wish that were true.” A clawed finger scooped some of the darkness from her cheek, letting it dribble onto her breast. “She’s using slimes as avatars,” she flicked her finger, sending the splatter onto the ground. “Though they don’t seem to link consciousness. The gazer’s true form would be a solid, not liquid.”
“Avatars?” Cerea asked.
Rachnera’s eyes blinked in succession, her clawed fingers wrapping over her gut before releasing a wet, “UUURRP.” She leaned back in discomfort while her body made a rippling churn, vibrating against her hand. “Ewwgh,” she grunted, shaking her ivory hair. “They don’t… settle… well. Do they?”
“I… I haven’t…” Cerea stammered before an equally loud sloshing noise quivered inside of her belly. The tightness felt as if it tried to push outwards all at once, a feeling Cerea sensed most in her second stomach. Her lips were folded in discomfort as Rachnera began to chuckle.
“Eat or be eaten,” she stepped forward.
Rachnera and Cerea were similar heights, and formally had been a pretty similar size. But the absolute weight of Rachnera was more than apparent as her long, skinny, spider legs, emerged with her normal-sized thorax. Most of her weight had clearly centered in her human areas, expanding her belly and breasts and even her front two legs to look hundreds of pounds heavier, while much of her spider-area seemed to remain untouched.
“You have two stomachs, right?” she asked. “I can feel it… mixing, inside of me.” She stepped closer, almost touching Cerea with her body. “It’s making both of us fatter.”
Cerea swallowed. She twisted, lifting the body-cover and seeing the truth. Her flank was much fatter, nearly overgrowing her legs and pushing them outwards. Her swollen middle nearly reached down to her knees, fatter than fat.
All of the heat came back to her then. The warmth in her stomachs, the sweat on her body, the mixing of the slime.
“We have to find the others,” she said, looking back to Rachnera. “We’ve got to get out of here as quickly as we can.”
“While we can still walk,” Rachnera chuffed. “I had to force myself to finish that last bit.”
“Can they still cast magic?” Cerea asked.
Rachnera gave her a raised eyebrow. “She was floating, Cerea.”
“R-right…” the centaur blushed. Then, something else occurred to her. “Did you scream? Earlier?”
Rachnera shook her head. “No, I heard it too. It’s what turned me on that we… I, wasn’t really with Honey. The gazer had me under some spell.”
“It’s complete hypnosis,” Cerea explained. “If you look into a gazer’s central eye, she can put you under her spell. She said she’d trapped us all in ‘heaven.’”
Rachnera tilted her head, her weight shifting to the side. “What… ooogh,” she grunted, and Cerea grimaced as a pulse rippled through Rachnera’s torso, adding even more weight onto the spider’s frame.
The blonde knight moved forward, dropping her lance and taking Rachnera by the arm to support her. The arachnid felt huge, truly covered with fat even up on her arms. Her breathing had dropped into a heavier tone, a pained sort of pant as her center ached from the contents. Her nude body shined with sweat and, Cerea noticed, had several scratches near her center, like faded scars.
She was developing stretch marks.
The girl lifted her other hand to her head, pressing it in. “Ouugh. I feel… tired,” she said.
“Me too…” Cerea admitted. “Come on,” she directed the other girl to the stairs. “We have to find the others.”
She bent over, feeling the discomfort in her middle as it was forced to fold into two. Her lance felt heavier now, and she might have left it behind if she could have afforded to.
Rachnera was waiting for her. Together, the two girls took up the entire hallway, slowly advancing on the foreboding stairs. Cerea checked over her shoulder, watching for the mass of darkness. Rachnera had come from the hallway opposite her. If they were lucky, that might mean both girls would be upstairs.
“What… hoohugh… was yours?” Rachnera puffed.
“Ehh?” Cerea asked, looking back to her. The obese spider was holding both hands across her wide belly, hardly making any impact on how much pale flab there now was.
“Your ‘heaven,’” Rachnera answered. “What was it?”
Cerea snorted, wanting to clop her hoof on the stairs. “I awoke inside of a gelatinous cube that tasted like chocolate and carrots.”
Rachnera watched her pass before saying, “You’ve a very weird idea of heaven.”
“I suppose that I must…” Her belly punctuated the comment with a low, depreciative, whine.
“I had thought we were on a beach with Honey. One moment, I’m wearing my swimsuit and he’s rubbing my shoulders, the next I’m completely nude and some little gremlin has her slimy hands on my neck.”
“And you ate her?”
Rachnera grunted. “I’m not a carnivore,” she said. “I meant to bite her at first. My teeth went straight through the slime, and she tastes exactly like cherry gelatin. Then the others started trying to attack me-”
“Others?”
“The slimes. Gazers or whatever,” Rachnera reached the top of the stairs. So close to the moon, Cerea could see the slight glint of bruises that were forming near her neck and her middle. She’d obviously been struck a few times. “Webbing wasn’t working, couldn’t tie them up. They only panicked when I bit the first one again.”
“That’s a lot of slime…” Cerea thought of her huge cube, shoving fistful after fistful into her mouth. It had nearly debilitated her, and she had two stomachs. There was a lot of room in which she could… A much, much more worrying thought then came to her.
“I’m just glad the webbing immobilized them for as long as… Cerea?”
Cerea began moving more quickly. “We have to hurry,” she said. “We have to find Meroune.”
She moved quickly, turning right and mounting the final few steps that lead to the second floor. The path doubled back into a small balcony walkway, with a matching one on the either side. The two walkways were attached at the stairs as well as a small crosswalk near the long hallway.
“Meroune?!” she called, hoping for a response.
Rachnera was slower to understand. There wasn’t much space on the small walkway, which would have been a struggle even before she was the size of a van. “Why?” Rachnera asked, coming up behind Cerea.
Cerea bristled, unable to fully turn around on the path. “What do you think Meroune’s ‘heaven’ is?” she asked over her shoulder.
Rachnera paused.
A high-pitched shriek down the left hallway answered the question for her.
The blonde knight didn’t wait. “Mero!” she called, galloping forward. The wooden boards barked beneath her clopping hooves, loudly complaining beneath the centaur's spiking weight.
The scream came again as Cerea thundered around the corner and with a final gleam of moonshine on her lance, passed into the wall of darkness.
