A little update on my workflow
🕑 Added 2021-03-16 19:18:51 +0000 UTCSo you may have noticed I produced a little less the last week, and I figured I'd highlight why. First, to get the obvious out of the way, as you may or may not know, I contracted COVID last week, which has put a real damper on things. I'm hoping it'll pass soon, letting me return to a normal sleeping schedule, instead of the ridiculous 14 hours I'm pulling these days.
The second thing is more interesting, I think. I've spent a lot of time doing actual animation exercises, doing a lot of reading and tinkering, watching a lot of videos and so on. I'm already starting to see a lot of small improvements. It's really simple stuff, too, but unless you've got someone to tell you why you should do x or shouldn't do y, it's pretty hard to figure out on your own. To put it short, I learned how to doodle in sfm without ever bothering to learn the basics of animation, I'd never even animated a walk cycle or a bouncing ball before. It's fundamental stuff, little things that make an animation feel organic instead of a robotic loop. I'm hoping exercising animation in general is going to make me better at making smut for you guys. It just takes time, so I'm hoping you guys will bear with me.
