[Mysteries On Marvel] Chapter 82
🕑 Added 2025-01-10 16:00:11 +0000 UTCAt this moment, the atmosphere inside the textile factory was tense.
Before the gathered members lay a corpse—the body of Wesley, their designated tool to deal with Cross.
According to Sloan's original plan, they intended to exploit the remnants of Cross's familial ties and train Wesley, his son, into a weapon to kill the traitorous assassin.
But no one could have foreseen what happened last night: Cross himself shot and killed Wesley, his only son.
For them, this was undeniably bad news.
From now on, they had no leverage against Cross.
By eliminating his sole weakness, Cross had severed the last thread of his humanity.
Such a transformation made him even more dangerous.
It was almost certain that, having been forced into killing his son, Cross would now unleash a relentless vendetta against the textile factory.
Given his skills, the Brotherhood of Assassins was in for serious trouble.
"Damn it."
Sloan cursed under his breath, his expression dark as he looked at the other eight skilled assassins in the room—those adept at the fraternity's iconic bullet-curving technique.
"Have the orders been sent out?" he asked.
Fox nodded. "I've instructed all operatives to halt their current missions and return to the factory immediately."
The Gunsmith chimed in, "I've stationed people at all critical points in the factory. If Cross dares to show up, dozens of guns firing simultaneously will turn him into a sieve."
The Butcher, playing with his cleaver, added coldly, "The problem is, what if he doesn't show up and instead picks us off bit by bit?"
At these words, the room fell into uneasy silence.
What the Butcher had pointed out was their worst fear.
The factory might have resources to sustain them for years, but hiding indefinitely was not a viable option.
Standing at the back of the group, the Pharmacist hesitated as though he wanted to say something.
Boom!
A deafening explosion suddenly shattered the stillness, blowing apart the massive, gate-like entrance of the textile factory.
Crash!
Fragments of the door shot inward like bullets, shredding several factory members stationed nearby.
Sloan, Fox, and the others rushed to the window, peering outside.
Gunfire erupted across the factory grounds, fiery bursts lighting up the scene as a truck smashed through the broken gate.
Squeak, squeak!
The high-pitched screeching of rats reached the Pharmacist's ears.
Looking out the window, his eyes widened in horror as he saw a swarm of rats pouring out of the truck.
"Be careful! Those rats have bombs on them!" the Pharmacist shouted.
Boom! Boom!
Even as the warning left his lips, stray bullets struck several of the bomb-laden rats, triggering explosions that rocked the factory.
The chain of explosions plunged the factory into chaos. Amid the confusion, a figure darted into the factory unnoticed.
Meanwhile, Eren and Gwen had arrived near the factory after locating its address through the crystal ball's vision.
The sudden explosions startled them both, followed by the deafening sound of gunfire.
The intensity of the battle made their expressions turn grim.
"This is serious," Eren muttered, pulling Gwen back.
Listening to the gunfire, Gwen began to understand why Eren's divination had pointed to this factory as the place to find a method to heal Helen's scars.
The sheer scale of firepower on display was far beyond what any ordinary factory—or even a typical police precinct—would possess.
"No, I can't just leave. I need to inform my dad about this," Gwen said, shaking her head.
She quickly took out her phone and moved to a corner to call George.
While Gwen was occupied, Eren watched the scene. The gunfire, though intense, was rapidly subsiding.
What's going on?
Cross was eliminating the assassins much faster than Eren had anticipated based on his divination. At this rate, Cross might annihilate the entire factory before the police could even arrive—or he might be overwhelmed and killed.
Either way, it would complicate Eren's plans.
So, divination isn't omnipotent after all...
Sighing softly, Eren glanced at Gwen, who was still on the phone urging George to hurry. Seizing the moment, he stepped forward and snapped his fingers.
Snap!
Using a hypnotic technique from his psychic abilities, Eren planted a suggestion in Gwen's mind to stay put and hide.
With her distracted, he quietly headed toward the textile factory, where the gunfire was dying down.
Using a secret escape route he had uncovered through repeated divinations and Mr. X's memories, Eren, now wearing his Jester mask, infiltrated the factory from the hidden exit.
Opening the concealed door, he stepped into a scene of devastation.
Smoke filled the air, and bodies—both human and rat—lay strewn across the ground and stairs. Pools of blood gathered on the factory floor, forming crimson streams.
"Who's there?"
A shaky voice called out, followed by a gunshot aimed at the cabinet where Eren had just been hiding.
With the agility granted by his Jester powers, Eren dodged the bullet effortlessly and flicked his wrist.
Bang!
The bullet curved in an elegant arc, bypassing obstacles before striking the shooter squarely in the forehead.
Having ascended as a Jester, Eren had mastered the Brotherhood's signature technique: curved trajectory shooting.
