It sounds to me like the bigger/richer school is the primary holder of this school's debt. As such, they will eventually be able to take over the smaller/poorer school, once the smaller school defaults on that debt. So why is the teacher visiting? Because the larger school has grown impatient, and is looking for a defensible reason for calling those loans due sooner, and justifying an immediate takeover. If the larger school can demonstrate "failure" on the part of the smaller school, they can claim that the smaller school can no longer serve as collateral for its loans, call those loans due, foreclose on them, and take over the school immediately. And, of course, they can claim that they *suspect* this is the case, and (as primary creditor) insist on being able to inspect the school to prove the school's creditworthiness. At least, that's (roughly) how it would go under Earth law. I didn't have any problem understanding that from the chapter -- but it is a bit subtextual, if one does not happen to have the background knowledge in Earth law and economics that provides a plausible explanation. BTW, noct, if I did not correctly understand your intent, please feel free to smack me upside the head. 😀 The above is just how it read to me; I make no claim that it is actually canon.

Riley, Glutton of All the Foods

You, my friend, wax lyrical in a deeply satisfying way. Thank you for the chapter!

Although I’m a remedial teacher within my own Academy, please do not take that as any sort of inditement(indictment).

Can we get another storage ring to help move trash? Or a trash compactor skill?

Errannz

Right. But if they can militarily and economically crush them regardless. What do their school gain from allowing them access? Will they stop loaning money if they are denied? If so, what would be the reason for that? And what is the pretense of why this school is coming to inspect them. Is it that they want to make sure their loans will be able to be repaid?

Hmm... I'll go take a look and see if I can make it clearer! Basically, he's from a rich and powerful school that could absolutely crush Rhys' school both economically and militarily, so if Rhys' school opposed this "peaceful interaction", they risk being obliterated. I might have been relying on cultivation tropes here to get that across, so I'll make sure to make it explicit! Thanks!

Errannz

I dont see why their school allows a teacher from another school that is hostile free rein to come and do basically what they want. And to have to impress him. Even if he comes from a bigger school. I just dont see how it makes sense.
