I still maintain your depiction of the battle and how it was a "disadvantage" made no sense at all considering how warfare actually works. I am just hoping future battles aren't going to just gloss over the advantage of terrain and numbers, and the sheer versatility of having preparations. Imo this felt like trying to have a battle of champions when the greatest decider in the fight would have been the thousands of third circles mages and how they could have just annihilated every single orthuki without anyone dying. I am REALLY hoping this is a one off on how battles are depicted rather than a herald of how everything is about champions when the champions are barely any stronger than the canon fodder.

A wall is just an organized heap of rocks. And the underdark has a lots of rocks. And the cool thing about rocks is, that they can be moved. From places where you don't need rock, to places where you need rocks. For example, into a tunnel that's wall's can't be affected by magic.

They haven't even worked out that if the tunnel is unshapable, you can get shapeable rock into it. I mean, even the ancient Egyptians realised that if you don't have rock where you want a rock heap, you can bring the rock there to heap. And they haven't even had magic.

There are no walls: It's the underdark XD. The tunnels are the walls. This is also the reason no siege weaponry exists in the underdark: they fell out of favor when people stopped having walls to siege down, so at best people vaguely know of these old, useless blueprints the second (and first) Orthan empire made for some reason in the past.

I think this is the first chapter that we’ve had an in-depth view of Felix, I like it. I hope he and Sallia get some more in the spotlight character development in the future. It’s felt a little weird for Miria to have spent this much time with them and for us to have seen so little non-expository interactions with then. We’ve been getting a bit with Sallia which has been nice, but Felix has been feeling very third-wheel in the friendship trio. (As a note I don’t mean any of this harshly, more of an observation, and minor critique, sorry if I overshoot on the tone). On the actual story, I honestly just thought they were dead. Glad to see they survived, and dang this is going to be a bitter pill to swallow. At least they technically succeeded in their goal on the islands, here they were among the MVPs of that battle despite their age, leveled up greatly compared to their last life, and still lost. I have a suspicion that there’ll be many more losses in their future, but I’m happy to see Anise survive, though this is going to be traumatic.

Ooh, I like how the didn't fall back to "walls" or a choke point or something. The army failed: the city died. No last minute rescue. Good!

Thanks for the chapter! Looks like Felix is going to figure out how to reshape their militaries and lean into a bunch of influence gain this lifetime...

Evelynn Sylpheaux

Thank you for the chapter! It's a bit sad that their parents left so quickly, but I hope they're okay and that our little group will find some information about them, or even meet them

Evelynn Sylpheaux

Aren't they five shapers? The four children, shaper-casters, and Ella?

Meschmee

Its a shame they didn't work out Chlorine gas or something similair

Daniel Allen (Brynath)

Woo, glad to see that they get more adventure in this world!
