I'll admit, I did not think of that.

If runes are small enough to go on your feet, I bet you could hide a couple in between your butt cheeks. just sayin

MikeL

So I’m guessing Sallia or Felix is a Nobel.

Treviisolion

Ok that explains it. I quickly checked back to the chapter mentioning Tiers and the fact that higher tier worlds only affect achievement gain for Influence doesn’t seem to have been mentioned, though perhaps I missed it. That is interesting that ordinary achievements vary slightly from world to world. @The Lost Pages I think you’re thinking of the per-action achievement gain? In that if you kill 1 monster you can get 100 achievement. But if you kill 10 you only get 200 achievement so killing every monster only gave you a tenth of the achievement the first one gave you. So far there hasn’t been an indication that achievements repeated between lives have lowered gains. Miria gained 25 achievement the first time she reached a basic level in her sword skills (plus the first time bonus), 30 achievement the second time, and 20 the third time.

acaswell

She was five. Though, five plus eight also does not equal twelve.

Don't forget, higher tier worlds give more INFLUENCE achievement. Other Achievement remains... well, kind of similar-ish from world to world, although the numbers obviously vary a bit from one world to the next. Perhaps I'll add in another reminder that the higher-tier world rule applies to Influence Achievement, though. And the few hundred Achievement Miria and co. got for reaching a certain grade of combat skill for the first time was subsidized by the Market, meaning it won't repeat unless they hack the Market XD.

MinE

I’m still on the theory that witches/wizards are manifestation and shapers are alteration, but I supposed shapers could be both.

The Lost Pages

Wasn't there a thing about diminishing returns on repeated achievements as well?

Arkeus

We already saw Miria mentionning that achievements she had already gotten in her first life were stronger in the market. However, what I suspect happened is that in some ways this is the "same life" as the one they got in the market, so some of the achievements she already got there got weaker. Intermediate Swordmanship should be stronger yeah imo... but this might be a case of the world not considering swordmanship a 'proper' path, and it being askew in favor of Alteration/Manifestation.

Treviisolion

I’m a little surprised by how low her achievement for swordsmanship was. In her last life she gained 25 achievement for Basic Swordmanship, and 150 for Intermediate, plus a few hundred each for her first time achieving both. According to the information given, Tier 5 worlds give more achievement than lower tier worlds, so either that only applies to non-standard achievements that are world-specific (which the lowered achievement for the runes despite that being very impressive for a person to use a magic system from another dimension does seem to support), or repeating achievements across lives has significantly lowered return rates and the Tier 5 is only mostly counteracting that effect. Possibly both if the Tier doesn’t affect standard achievements and there’s a lowered achievement gain for repeating achievements.

Arkeus

Also, new pet theory: witch/wizard can be one of the essences, and shapers are so rare because they are both.

MinE

She might need to partially activate madness to get six runes, but I get we’re your coming from.

Arkeus

She was six previously, so the 'eight years' to twelve constantly referred is a bit 'wait what'. It does feel like wearing her dress should basically be countering most of her issues with essence though.....

Nathan Sto

Ooh, what did we do to deserve this? Do chapters usually come out the next day? Me like.

The Lost Pages

Thanks for another masterful chapter.

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter! :-)
