Wait wait wait, where? Looks like i either skimmed over it or have forgotten about it.

It’s mentioned they have already tried that and it failed faster

I dont think the leap from thinking about 'mana less room experiments' to 'starving the baptism from ambient mana' is very large. So, maybe she will try to use that to save him if the baptism fails? I could see how that would lead to a paradigm shift in how they handled baptism currently. Instead of people doing it 'out of sight' - ilverya could make ... 'test centers'(?) with a healer at station so people could go through a controlled baptism that can be interrupted if they arent 'compatible', which would save a lot of lives. In the long run, that would actually increase the number of mages in a similar way as if they had increased the success chance. After all, if it becomes save to do, many more would at least try to see if they could become mages, right?

someone always writes a chapter in the comments section of this story

I think the question of pure mana or single kind of mana has already been extensively tested and doesn't seem to produce anything of note compared to regular baptisms

I think that the observation of this mana baptism process is key to Alice's research moving forward in multiple areas. The first area is in mana itself, specifically in this case "How does the interaction between the person and mana actually make the baptism happen? What starts it, what builds it and what concludes it?" Since she has been able to see multiple types and colors of mana for quite a while now, one of her thoughts should be "Would the mana baptism be 100% safe if the person was only exposed to a single type of mana instead of all of them?" Also "Is the mana baptism failure rate so high because the human body is not able to compartmentalize or separate the various types of mana during the baptism?" Watching this process is also key for Alice so she can see for herself how the mana baptism process has been going on as well as the way the mana moves on its own during this. So this is vital, not just for making baptisms safer, but also for her research into mana itself. Second, of course is her research into baptisms as a whole. Are they always performed in the same manner? Are they not? What differences are there? If there are many ways for baptisms to happen, then are there any similarities even though the baptisms happen differently? Is there a similar time of day for the baptisms to happen, or a certain season, or a similar location? Third is her research into the interactions of mana with the human body, both mage and civilian. What interactions are similar and what is different? Why isn't everyone a mage even though mana is in the environment of every single person, all day every day, of their lives? Why does a "magic seed" fundamentally alter the way mana interacts with an individual? This question comes up because civilians can have class seeds but no mage seed, and mages have class seeds and mage seeds. So why does mana interact differently with mages than is does with civilians after the baptism happens? Lastly, how does a human body form its first mage seed during a baptism? Does this first seed possibly effect or alter how all future seeds this individual can make in the future? And all of this is before we get into the how's and why's of system interference during mana baptisms. This is why I believe that Alice watching this process is a vital first step in her research.

I does not feel like the chapter was cut short :) It feels like a cliff, but I'm used to them now :(

She might never understand anything in time in that way

Should it not be the other way around? Why not try to get the system seed before observing the baptism? The system seed might reveal more information, since the system is so involved in the baptism process. The sooner she can figure things out, the less people need to die.
