Im picturing a four year old standing in the middle of a street, materializing and twirling a sword 🤣

Pride mystic artificer

this seems like the kind of world where dad leaves for the factory at sun up and comes home at sun down, mom stays at whatever job she has (laundry cleaner, personal maid service, “lady of the evening”, or any other female job of the time, potentially also go to the factory if sexism isnt a thing here) from sun up to sun down, and the kid is left to their own devices for that entire time, or left with grandparents if they are still alive or left alone if not. Their is also some historical president for this as kid needed to grow up much quicker and would start takeing care of their siblings as young as 6 (sometimes lower), but im pretty sure that sallia is a few years older than Miria (as are the other) beacuse they woke up so much eairlyer than her

Hmm, I have a feeling Sallia’s parents would freak out if they ever get home and Sallia isn’t there. I’m a bit surprised they aren’t handing Sallia off to some friends with older kids they trust, as unless 4 years old is significantly more mature in this world than ours you usually don’t let 4 year olds babysit themselves no matter how mature they are. If something unexpected happens children that young simply won’t know what to do because they lack the life experience to know what to do. Given how dangerous the slums are as well, I doubt Sallia can pass of the idea that she was just playing outside without a serious scolding, and if she is being watched by someone, said person being scolded as well. Miria at least has the benefit that she’s an all but abandoned child so can come and go more or less as freely as an adult. So it’s a bit more plausible that she can at least go out and do stuff independently, though the sight of someone that should have the body of a malnourished barely out of toddler-hood body running about is certainly interesting.

Was the random french from Salia on purpose?

Fwiw, I think that the trap is that the readers and writer picture the character in terms of their mentality (essentially an adult with full self-determination) even when theoretically knowing that their body is barely post-toddler. The other thing that implies to me that you may have fallen into this trap, is that the interaction with the people outside felt wrong. That is, they treat her as you would an adult or teenage stranger that may be a threat or nuisance, and never show even a hint of wondering why a small child is out alone nor why they seem to have such purpose. And Miria didn't seem to find that particularly odd, just seems to assume that they're unfriendly and fearful of competitors. But 4 year olds are not competitors.

Thanks for the chapter! Fwiw, it's always been really odd to me in reincarnation stories when they start doing things well beyond feasible body capability as a very small child. I remember reading and enjoying Singer, Sailor, Merchant, Mage for a while until the grandfather was training the MC and his older (but still very young) sister by cutting them with a knife if they didn't do well enough - and the MC's body was 5 yeas old. It was ridiculous (and horrifying), both that the person would interact with him that way, and that he could perform physically, and I stopped reading completely. Which is a long-winded way of saying that it would probably be much more realistic if they managed to figure out a way to feed themselves enough, provide a lifeline for Miria's mom, and train while they grow bigger instead of sword-fighting adult gangs with metal arms. For all that Sallia has runes and talents, a person's body doesn't develop by 4 years old, both strength and dexterity. Add in leverage and reach limitations and it's a full fail. A hand-wavy 'it's the strength of their soul modifying their body even in ridiculous ways before their body has a meaningful foundation' doesn't really seem to make sense before that foundation (or maybe that's just me?). And if they do, then we're talking about operating so far outside of human possible capabilities that it will appear monstrous (as in actual monster) or other horrifying situation (possession, demons) - real or imagined - that the reaction of anyone they interact with would be off the charts bad. Like get the inquisition and burn them with fire bad, as they're obviously not human. Obviously it's your story and feel free to ignore all of that, but my last pitch before you do is to consider watching a video with 4 year olds moving or playing (i.e. about 3 feet tall and not very coordinated), then try to picture them fighting (even enhanced) against an adult, and seeing if that still makes sense. Sorry for the rant, but I really like your story and am hoping you can avoid what I think is a probable pitfall - while acknowledging that it may just be only me that has a problem (and if you think that's the case, again, you can always ignore me:-).

I wonder if they’ll end up creating their own gang to deal with all the gangs and earn a bit of extra achievement. P.s Miria with all 3+ runes is going to be scary in this world; if she manages to develop a better form of extinguish like she did for her healing spell and combo it with her first rune ability, she could just kill or incapacitate dozens or even hundreds if near an ocean.
