it really doesn't matter. she just started with this. it's gonna change too much before not so long. if anything, it's good that they confirmed it now instead of later. she didn't give any valuable information except for the fact that she's a mage and a scholar.

No one really seems to care about poor Alice. No real sympathy for her situation or genuine care for her wellbeing. To be honest I'm surprised her willpower stat isn't steadily climbing as she fights off all the mental issues brought on by such a drastic change in reality. I hope she finds some companions soon.

Plus, it's likely only high level mages see much benefit from their pseudo-noble status. I suspect mages over level 50 to be only around 30% of the mage population, if not less. the rest are likely apprentices or working mages. Likely the only reason the low level mages get the pseudo-noble status is because of the system and the possibility that the low level mage you insulted with be a high level mage in a few years with a little luck or circumstance.

Though since dimension magic seems very taboo it makes sense not too many people are asking about her home dimension.

I understand your reasoning, its probably me being an angry jaded dude, that doesnt translate that well to a scared sixteen year old :P. Also the more i thought about it : you made a great explanation of her being scared of being outed as manage. as she is (understandable) scared of having her heart ripped out, that could be a source of resentment as well

Certainly! It's why the mages have a sort of pseudo-noble status and one of the five voting estates in Major Court cases and political decisions, but individual mages don't have an automatic seat at the highest tables. It's also the reason one of the first mages Alice sees, back when she just walked into Cyra, is working at the docks to help construct it. In the eyes of the law, a Mage may have a status similar to an unlanded noble, but in practice many of them still work for their bread each day.

That's actually a fair point - I didn't discuss Alice's emotions well enough in the chapter. I added in a chunk of her thoughts partway through the conversation with Illa's dialogue - fundamentally, however, I do somewhat disagree with your assumption that it would be a widespread dislike of the entire court, primarily because, even if it was partially due to the extreme nature of Vallis's actions, Illa DID stop Alice from getting skewered, even if it was also in Illa's best interests as well. It would make sense for Alice to be frustrated and angry, but at the same time, it is likely most of said emotions would be directed towards the most notable target - in this case, Vallis. However, you are correct that Alice should be more frustrated, and I didn't discuss this well enough in the chapter. Thank you for the comment!

I have a bit of a problem regarding her reaction to the character she interacted with. She doesnt seems angry at all that every thing that matters about her status is now known to a lot of people. Even if she understands the necessity of it to clear her name, she should atleast resent the people forcing her to do this. I mean imagine you would force a 15-16 year old girl to hand over her mobil phone and 10 people are allowed to look every single massage and ask her questions to it. I mean i am a man and dont write anything interresting on my phone but i would be absolutely livid. Atleast she should be way more guarded about her status. But maybe i am just a hateful person i dont know

Feel like 1-2% is not actually all that rare on a population level. It means in a city of 1 million (estimated upper bound on the population of the city of ancient rome) there would be ten to twenty thousand mages, which seems like quite a bit. Intuitively, enough that just being a mage probably wouldn't guarantee a place in the upper crust of society for that city. For perspective, the wikipedia page on nobility claims: "All the nobles in 18th-century Europe numbered perhaps 3–4 million out of a total of 170–190 million inhabitants." So, that's a similar figure to your amount of mages, and there were enough of them to form a large and [very] complex sub-society and rule europe.

It will definitely come up later, at least with the characters from the trial. Right now, most of them have realized she is not exactly in the best frame of mind, which is why most of them have a kind of 'I'll answer your questions and give some quick info, but come back later' sort of attitude, with the sort-of exception of Illa. I intended for this to be explored more later on, rather than this chapter, though. Edit: Upon looking back through the chapter, I realized that even if they're being polite, the extent they go to 'not mentioning it' is a bit extreme. This has been corrected.

I'm hoping the characters are going to demonstrate a bit more interest in her home dimension, even if they never find out it has no system. They seem to be totally writing that part off and showing complete disinterest so far. I'm willing to write it up to them trying to gain her confidence or let her grieve, first. But she's a visitor from another dimension! Even if someone is as curious as a rock, they have to realize she might know countless amazing things and the advantages of finding out.
