There is very technically no limit on subclasses, but most people would never bother. Much like other XP related penalties, secondary classes start out with a BASE growth of 20% Xp instead of 100%. So any modifiers that boost XP growth arealso nerfed by 80%, meaning that, for example, if Explorer of Magic was a secondary class, instead of 475% growth speed it would be barely growing as fast as an average class. As for someone having hundreds of classes... part of the reason I applied so many incentives for people to combine Perks into the System was because when I was creating a sample character sheet for an immortal during the early stages of the story, I realized that I not only had over 120 different Perks to keep track of on the sheet, but I also had like 20 subclasses the Immortal logically should have. They still have the subclass spam, but now they don't clutter up the Perk section. And since the Perks get combined, Perk clutter is further reduced. I didn't go far enough with my problem solving here, but it is still way better than it was in the first draft of hte story.

That was, indeed, supposed to be part of the chapter. I forgot it and only realized it last Monday. I corrected it. Whoops!

moar plz

MinE

hopefully, I'm expecting something like [Ancient Mage] for forming a function magic seed above a certain mana conversion rate.

Achievement instead?

MinE

Safety Analysis says no, so the system would have to be contradictory to punish her or allow her to die from it. Plus the extra assistance from the system from [Otherworlder] makes it unlikely she would die even if she directly formed a system seemed.

MinE

I remember them doing both. You get one only one perk slot for every ten levels and the level of the slot is treated as half what it actual is. Level 10 subclass slot=level 5 primary class slot. The lesson is subclasses aren't very good. P.S A weird thought I have is what are the limits on number of subclasses, even if no one reaches it normally there has to be some limit. A normal tier one individual could meet the conditions for hundreds of classes, if they used the system bible.

So does she explode and die ? What happens ? Why is there a [Cliff] ?

Abborre

Also I remember that secondary classes gave percs every 10 levels and not that they gave percs at half level. And I wrong?

MinE

Good idea. Humans are just a type of animal, so its logical to think they could become monsters. The risks of mana baptisms could be caused by the system canceling monsterization and forcing the body to adapt a different way. My only question is would monsterized Humans be violent against humans and why would ancient mages being crazy not be mentioned in the texts?

Argh, cliff ahoi!

Arkeus

While there are many other instances of it being spammy, safety analysis was supposed to be on a one day cooldown

Abborre

Thanks for the chapter! :)

Taylor

I assume there will be upgrades next chap but like unless the perk ties in with the upgrades given after whatever achievement/errors/unknown, it probably fits in better when it was chronologically gotten

Abborre

I wonder if they went through some kind of monsterization

Abborre

I have a feeling that the next chapter will be upgrade havey as well

So any improvements she makes the system is likely to borrow and integrate with the automated process. In fact the system may have given her the abilities she has after she tried using new and foreign concepts. So the system is using her to evolve further after stagnating for so long.

Taylor

I think you forgot the level 25 perk for Apprentice Enchanter. Back in 58, Student of Kinetic Magic got a level 25 perk in addition to class level up. You might want to edit a last perk for Apprentice Enchanter into this chapter. You could of course do it in a later chapter, but like, it would fit better in this very Upgrade heavy chapter

MinE

Thats a possibility, but unfortunately unlikely. How would she survive an explosion close to the heart?

MinE

I wonder how those pre-system mages managed to form functional magic seeds. I mean they mostly died horribly but unless they had a way to remove magic seeds they were all first attempt seeds.

Bang!
