Trap Online Chapter 218: Wars and Bounty
🕑 Added 2024-06-22 09:20:41 +0000 UTCThe showcases went on for hours, and I saw many unique things. As things went longer and longer, the things that people showed off became rarer and more interesting. Some were simple but unique like someone creating a new species or funding a new magic that no one had seen. Many of them were the technology of the magical variety. Some were of the crafting, and it was increasingly more interesting.
Then, it got to those in the higher stands, and the things they showed were different. "This is a Corrupted Demonic stone I found, although it has a little twist," The Lady walked up to the stage holding. "This can open a one-time Portal to a corrupted Dungeon." That set off clapping and talking all over, even up in the upper stands, "We will be delving and inviting a few close associates in the next couple of days to join us in the dive with their people. We will be taking sixty percent of the loot, but," The lady smiled, "You never know what treasures your faction might gain in return."
That set off another wave of clapping and discussion; she was not the only one. I learned there were incredibly rare portals, and even Lady Greencloak was surprised as suddenly, another one came up with a sit. The stone he came walking up with was light and on a ring. There were much fewer at the top, and he smiled, looking over the crowd, "I have brought something much like the Lady Blueheart; she brought a corrupted dungeon stone. Here, I bring a Holy dungeon stone!"
The announcement set off another explosion of clapping, and people were discussing it. "Much like Lady Blueheart, We will open the portal soon and let allies join us in our cause to traverse the portal. We will be keeping Fifty-five percent of the spoils you take, but you never know what treasures you can bring out from below."
The discussion heated up, and I heard a groan from Lady Greencloak.
"What?" I asked, my voice low.
"That was a declaration of war to Lady Blueheart from Sit Blackflame. Very rarely do people bring out things like that, and their two factions hate each other because of competing businesses." Lady Greencloak looked concerned. "Although our faction is not with either of them or their allies, we have a couple of allies that are allied with them. They will inevitably get mixed up in it and take sides. I will have to talk to some associates while I am here to ensure we establish that we are neutral."
"So basically, they just pulled you into a bunch of politics?"
"Yes, and I did not need that with how tonight is going." Lady Greencloak sneered up at them but was still clapping.
The next upper people showed off some new and exciting news, with two people showing off new Gurus that were part of their faction. That brought a lot of people clapping, but I could see what was happening now.
It was political posturing for those at the top.
Those at the bottom were posturing for their attention to show they might be worth something to those at the top. This had to be the weirdest way to run a city that I ever heard of. Then again, I was like a mouse looking up at humans. I had no idea what they were getting up to. I was hoping not to stomp on while running around and doing my thing.
I sighed and watched as the final demonstration came up, and the Woman smiled. "That is the most powerful Woman after the city lord. Be careful of her and do everything you can to please her."
To my surprise, the woman walking up on stage was a gnome, although her bust was a little disproportional. She smiled, "As I normally am last, I thought I would show you something interesting from the treasury that I collected over the years." Lady Goldspell said aloud on stage, "This," She said, producing an unassuming golden pearl. "This is a natural golden peral of a Deep Sea Overlord clam that has been allowed to live for over a thousand years, with an extra special feature." The Woman smiled.
The little busty Gnome smiled as they waited for a couple of minutes, and the tension built up. "It is a portal to a beginner's dungeon that can be used to train newcomers to factions! Better yet," The Gnome smiled, "I am giving it to the person who kills a certain person for me. That is right! I am using this to put a hit out on a special person this year!"
The crowd went quiet, stunned.
"I want this Monk's head, dead or alive," The Gnome finished, and suddenly, a projection from her hand appeared, showing a bald man in a peculiar yellow robe. Fancy red lines were on that robe, and the muscles on the man looked solid from what you could see. "This man is powerful, and you should be wary. He destroyed something of mine and was in the city three days ago. Although I wanted to capture him myself, I have suffered some losses among my intelligent people. So be wary around him."
She nodded, "Be advised that the person who gets this from me will also have protection from my faction for ten years to assist in building up your faction from others while you own this so you can protect it."
The Gnome then hopped off the stage and began to walk up the stairs.
The crowd erupted into clapping, and the discussions began, and I looked at Lady Greencloak. "Is this normal?" I asked.
"No, Something is starting in the City, and I am in the dark about it." Lady Greencloak grabbed me and pulled me to her side. "You will need to do your best tonight while I gather information. You need to do better than good."
I shivered under her intense stare, and the announcer came up on stage. "Now, everyone, after show and tell, we have the part everyone looks forward to before the promotions! The PARTY!" The crowd clapped, and the lights came out. Suddenly, doors opened all over, and servers, maids, and beautiful men and women dressed provocatively all came out.
"The party begins, and you will be a showpiece people will ask about, Elli. Prepare yourself."
A small gnome-sized hole opened up a moment later, and the Gnome that just left the stage stepped out before us with a smile.
