I wish I could read this early without searing my eyes in Light Mode since I can't open a PDF in dark mode. Would it be possible to just write this out here on Patreon instead? So I can choose if I want to sacrifice my eyeballs or not?

I’m curious to see what the crown could really demand from them, the machines while great aren’t something that could really be taxed unless they make whole new laws for them. As far as I know no westerosi lord gives up swords or tools as tax/tribute to their liege lord, it’s either coin or food.

Being honest, a war with the south would be a joke, I know that the reason is to have some drama for the plot, but he could easily rebuke Ned by saying that he stayed in the north to benefit the north instead of going to Essos like he originally planned, in view of that he could simply refuse to build anything to them and tell Ned to tell Robert exactly that, no need to say more, I could see Ned caving to that easily.
