POLL - February's Small Plugin
🕑 Added 2023-01-28 17:38:00 +0000 UTCSmall plugins are plugins that are not expected to require more than 1 months worth of work. Please note that since development can have unexpected surprises, there is no guarantee that this plugin will be completed in one month or less, just that in 99% of cases it should be completed in the given time frame.
For February's small plugin, would you like to see...
Random Name Generator - This plugin would add a text code to generate a random name from a list pre-set up by you in the plugin parameters using an ID. Once this ID is used, it would always return the same name. You could use this to generate "random" NPC names for your game that will then always have that name in that playthrough. It could also be a random string generator for other use cases.
Additional Text Codes - This plugin would add numerous text codes that you could use anywhere text codes are supported. I would look to include some common text codes that may be included in other "message system" like plugins, such as the ability to draw an item's icon + name. This would also integrate with other CGMZ plugins, including text codes for CGMZ-specific things such as drawing a CGMZ profession's name and icon.
Sounds IDs - This plugin would allow you to associate music (BGM/BGS/SE/ME) with an "id" and then use a plugin command to play the music file associated with that id. This is a developer's tool that will make it so if you want to switch a BGM out with another, but maybe it is played in 20 different maps and 30 different events, you only need to switch it once in the plugin manager and not all 50 total places it plays in the editor. Would not affect Play SE/ME/BGM/BGS event commands/database sounds/third party plugin sounds.
Hooks - This plugin would add a lot of javascript parameters that run after certain actions occur. For example, it could run the javascript you enter after a battle win/loss/escape. I would also look to include hooks for CGMZ plugin actions, such as running custom JS after earning an achievement if CGMZ Achievements is imported. This would only provide functionality if you already know javascript and are comfortable making script calls, but do not want to make your own plugin file to modify existing behavior.
Press Start - This would be a title screen plugin that shows a press start screen before the title window pops up. This will emulate how older games had a "press start" screen before the title menu.
Scene Backgrounds - This plugin would add the ability to add a custom image as the scene background for any scene based on the scene name. This should be something that I can get to work with third party plugin scenes as well, but it's not promised at least as part of initial Alpha release. I would also add the ability for default scenes to turn the windows transparent.
At 11:59PM CST February 11th (Saturday), this poll will close and I will start working on the plugin with the most votes. In case of a tie, I will choose one of the plugins that received the most votes.
