According to the "Super Robot Generation" book, Dunbine's broadcast run was cut short by one episode because the sponsor Clover went bankrupt, so you may be right about the sudden ending.

The most important thing you can do in your life is create your narrative whether it is seen by anyone else or not

God I missed how yall break things down.

This was fantastic, glad to hear you both ended up really enjoying Dunbine! "Jet Pervert" really cracked me up, especially when I realized that would be a great name for a character in the show.

I love this show so much, and Show and Marvel are my OTP forever. There's so much from the last episode that pops into my head all the time, haha.

EM Otero-Author

I have missed hearing you guys regularly! Good to have you back in the headphones. Now being an author who is trying to write and publish mecha stories in all genres, I have a vaguely plotted an escaflowne type fantasy one. I think this episode as inspired me to continue with that project.

God, Dunbine was *so good* in the middle 3/5, and *so janky* in the first fifth, and the last, like, three episodes (where it felt like they just forgot that they didn't have like five more episodes or something). It was baffling; the series was firing so well, and then it just sort of went 'whoops out of episodes, ummm....THEND'. The other things I remember were: a) that, of all the Tomino shows I watched, this one had the best romantic chemistry by far between the leads after the show entered its 'firing on all cylinders' phase (albeit relatively late into it), and b) I thought Cham and her continual willingness to metaphorically turn to the audience for the 'get a load of THIS guy' reaction were always good fun. Might just be a 'me' thing, though, since having somebody who ain't buying standard Pompous Blowhardery is always valuable, I think. Still, it's been some time since I watched it through with a friend, so I will be deeply excited to see if Thom and Nina concur with, violently disagree with, or simply don't touch on any of the things I recall.

My love for Dunbine is almost as deep as my love for Victory Gundam, so I'm very pleased you guys enjoyed it. Bern Bunnings' malice transcends Byston Well and rears its handsome but insufferable head in the Universal Century at least twice as you've seen, and will return again in Tomino's most recent and possibly final series (Gundam or otherwise). I personally think he established a rival archetype on his own that splinters off from Char, since Jerid and Cronicle (and kinda-sorta Mashymre) are closer to being Bern-expies than Char ones. It's wild to think without Dunbine, we might not have gotten the slew of Gundam sequels, and thus a mega-franchise, to follow... for better or worse!
