I'm surprised that Orb is the underrated choice here. I've watched all of them, Orb is still the first choice in my heart (I've read the manga and the adaptations). Maybe it's because of the subject matter, unpopular character choices, or the dialogue-based style that it will never become popular, but these also make a good work rare. The content will definitely be something you like. I really want to see it promoted to more people through people like you who know how to appreciate it...

I watched Monogotari and enjoyed it. Wouldn't recommend it to a lot of people too. I don't think style is the problem with Frieren, it's the filling. But going any further would be spoilers so whatever. I mean yeah, it may be like a 6/10 anime for me, but rank #1 by score on MAL? Comon bro.

Honestly if you replaced Orb (haven't seen it) with Cyberpunk Edgerunners I wouldn't mind any of the choices winning. Steins;Gate definitively the most I'm excited. Dan Da Dan second and Frieren third. Heavenly Delusion is like a wildcard.

I don't know if steins gate is your cup of tea, lot of jokes and stereotypes from the 2000's that didn't aged good imo. dandadan would be my vote, it's kinda of a breath of fresh air in the genre and the art direction is great

Very harsh to say Frieren is overhyped. I just think it's style isn't really enjoyable for everyone. There are some people i wouldn't recommend Monogatari or Oregairu to, while i like both those shows SteinsGate would be better for discussions overall from what i've gathered tho

I just checked your about page after seeing another comment mention it. Very surprised to see Girls Last Tour on your list. It’s one of my favorite pieces of media ever. Didn’t expect it to be on your radar. Don’t expect it’d win a poll though. Legend of the Galactic heroes would be fantastic as well. That said hoping Frieren or Steins wins this poll.

I mean it's anime, it'a about teenagers. Lots of anime are silly and wacky on the surface, you just need to dig a bit deeper to see underlying themes. That being said, out of all those options Dandadan would probably be my last choice, competition is just that strong. I haven't see Orb yet though but I already anticipate it's gonna be one of my favourites once I get to it.

Yeah, I didn't read about it in detail but I heard some things in passing. Tbh I thought Shaft is dead already but new Monogatari had amazing production, I think some of the old staff returned and new guys also picked up the mantle. Sometimes it seemed like they imitated good ol' Monogatari style but it was a good imitation. New Madoka seems intriguing as well.

Think I'll stand with Steins;Gate. Frieren is overhyped as hell imo, but maybe hype is something of a reason to check it too. Though as for the recent stuff, I would actually recommend "Dungeon Meshi". Recent, quite popular and fantasy. 24 episodes, made with soul both in studio and by author. Also insteresting how few people bringing up Madoka in the comments. The thing is, it's actually written by the same dude as Fate/Zero... not for anything :)

I watched a couple of episodes yesterday and had to stop to gather my thoughts and keep myself together. The emotions, the themes, the ost, the lines… It will lose the poll for sure but I’m not too worried, I know you will react to it someday. Problem is all their old staff went to David Production around 2019-2020, due to the absolutely horrible mismanagement of the company and it's poor staff. You can read up about shaft and their various problems on SakugaBlog.

'March Comes in like a Lion' is amazing, one of my favourite series for sure. All three Shaft Big 3 series (also Madoka and Monogatari) are in my Top. But it's 44 eps long already and not finished. I really hope Shaft will announce S3, they seem like they finally re-birthed, made new Monogatari season after 6 years and now new Madoka movie. Sangatsu deserves continuation as well.

I think Im has a good balance of speculation and also just giving his thoughts and ideas about a particular show and the message its sending in general. Episode 135 or 136 of HxH where Diego is sitting in the back porch chilling in the chair. Frieren is full of "that" type of discussion which I really like from Im. He does it a bit there in that discussion but a full anime of it would be nice.

I liked steins gate a ton, but I think Orb would be a bit more up your alley. Like others said, March comes in like a Lion and Madoka Magical would be really good choices. If you want something newer, I highly recommend sonny boy from 2021, very beautiful and thought provoking anime.

All good choices! Frieren will probably win but S;G will give it a fight. Dandadan is popular too and I heard a lot of good things about Orb, sounds like it's exactly up your alley. Heavenly Delusion looks like an outsider in this poll but we'll see. I'd wait for more anime content before reacting to it anyway. Personally I'd like to add Madoka Magica on the poll, one of the best short complete anime series of all time. It won't win the poll but it would put it on the map for future.

Have a similar issue with Frieren. I started the manga years ago dropped it and waited for the anime and the anime still couldn‘t convince me to like it sadly. Haven‘t finished it yet
