During World War II, high-ranking German generals captured by the Allies were housed at Trent Park, a luxurious English estate where they were treated to fine dining, comfortable living, and even day trips to prestigious British landmarks such as Harrods, London’s most famous department store, and the Savoy, a world-renowned luxury hotel. This indulgent treatment was a deliberate strategy by British intelligence officer Thomas Kendrick, designed to lull the prisoners into a false sense of security. Unknown to them, the entire mansion was secretly bugged (bedrooms, lounges, and common areas) so their casual conversations were recorded.
