I am so proud of Monica! She has gone a long way to be able to speak her mind like that. Lana is also the best friend Monica could dream of to heal from her abuse. When Bernie started lying about Monica crying tears of nostalgia, I knew that Lana thought about that time a noble lied about Monica and Monica didn't dare contradict it. Lana wouldn't fall for this, because she's actually a good friend. I didn't expect an assassination attempt at all, and we got some more worldbuilding. The talk about how dragonshifting magic is prohibited so the assassin must come from another country was interesting. I'd like to learn more. IIRC there are 13 episodes this season, but unfortunately I think it includes the 9.5 recap episode.

I actually went ahead and checked whether the chess moves shown at around 2:40 minutes into the actual episode were legitimate or not... and yes, it all works. That being said, their font choice was absolutely ATROCIOUS for this. Their lower case "f" looks exactly like a cursive "b", their lower case "b" looks exactly like a cursive "h", their lower case "h" looks just like a different "h". Deciphering this was a massive annoyance.
