Interesting fact about how impactful this episode was, it actually won the 2007 Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States. From this point in the series, and I keep saying it, buckle up for an emotional roller coaster. So glad your experiencing the ATLA journey! By the end... well, you'll eventually get there ;)

this episode also explains why even while in the avatar state aang was able to cry and shout only wanting appa back because their energies are literally mixed (i prob shoulda put these as one comment but thought of them separately)
