Patreon devlog update 61: back to the mirrror world
🕑 Added 2021-06-24 22:54:41 +0000 UTChey peeps, sorry for the belated update, i wanted to finish an animation of the game before publishing the update. There's not much to show this week too, mostly retouching stuff for the mirror puzzle.
Turns out programming the tiles to be in perspective is kind of a nightmare in ages, so i had to redraw the mirror grids to look like well, a more regular grid, with all the cells the same size:
it's not as pretty, but it's way easier to program, and hopefully clearer to parse too.
With that done, rick managed to code up the whole movement mechanic pretty easily, so now all that's left to be done are andy's reflections and win/lose states.
speaking of losing states, before the game over screen if you walk into a reflection i thought it'd be neat to animate a little sequence of andy getting bodied by one of them. I started with the skinny reflection:
i think i'll add some effects like stars coming out of andy's head and made a bit of mirror pre but it's pretty much done, next week i'l work on the other two animations.
