Patreon devlog update 42: carnival games
🕑 Added 2021-01-14 23:00:00 +0000 UTCheyo peeps! we're back at work on the next segment of the game! This week i had the pleasure of working on the circus' strongman. I had to change his color scheme a bit since it was too similar to the hellnaut, but i think the yellow and red motif suits him! (sorry some of the gifs have a weird aftereffect that i'm not sure how to remove ...they won't be like this in the final game ofc!)

and a bit of flexing because y'know he's a bit of a showoff.
aside from that we're planning out the start of this chapter, and we thought it could be fun to shove some circus activities in the mix, to represent the fact that andy will have to spend a couple of days working as a handyman for the circus.
so we brainstormed a bit and we're planning on including three minigames:
the first one is about andy working at the ice cream shop, the objective is to fulfill the orders of the demons and give congealed despair to the damned that show up. If you mix up the order for the demons they'll hurt andy, while if you give demon food to the damned they'll simply blow up...again, damaging andy. You gotta get to the end of the day in one piece to get to the next section...
wich is head fishing. For some reason the damned that falls into lethe and stay too long under there lose their head...literally! andy has been tasked to fish these head out of the river... but why? you have to get as many as you can making sure to avoid fishing for lethian octopi that are incredibly aggressive and will damage andy if they get poked with the harpoon!
the third game involves andy manning the circus' shooting gallery. Of course, this being a shooting gallery from hell, andy must make sure the damned that show up never get to win so he gotta move the targets out of the way before the damned manages to shoot and hit them.
these games will require a lot of assets and animations, but i think it'll be worth it in the end!
