patreon devlog update 27: what the heck is that
🕑 Added 2019-03-17 00:19:40 +0000 UTCso this week on the update for zap&andy we have more touchups for the final part of the second chapter. After the boys notice that dab doesn't want at all for them to fool around with a particular lock in his lair they decide to double the efforts in getting it open. The dream demon notices this and decides that it's too much of a nuisance having them running around in his lair freely.
so previously we had dab transform zap and andy into toys:
so andy would be turned into one of those monkeys with cymbals, and zap into one of those baby dolls that blows bubbles and dribble like a real baby. Andy would've had to reach a remote in dab's possession so zap would be able to blow a bubble so big it would turn into a cherub.
in the end we decided to scrap this idea because the logical connection to have zap blow spit bubbles to produce a cherub was a bit weird, and we preferred to show clearly that the characters were immobilized but still able to act. So now dab still turns them into toys, but it's not a real real transformation:
so now dab traps zap into a immobilizing bear plush and andy into the spring of a jack in the box. The puzzle now becomes at the same time more and less complicated.

and this will make him able to take a bite out of zap's halo, and attempt to create a cherub of his own out of it, the result altho won't be as expected:
what andy will be able to create is a gremlin, a creature composed of pure chaos and annoyance. You won't be able to control him directly as you do with the cherub , but he'll listen to andy's commands. He's the key to enrage dab and lure him near the final lock so he can open it for you.
