[Collab Story] Listening Ears

This series is illustrated together with Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) as part of Mental Health Month. Set our phones or preoccupations aside and lend our ears to someone. If you need a listening ear or know someone in need, call SOS at 1-767* or whatsapp 9151 1767* (*This is a Singapore-based service.)

SOS is the only volunteer-manned care service in Singapore that listens 24/7. Every year, SOS needs more trained listeners, who provide emotional support through calls and texts. To learn about volunteering as a trained listener, I encourage you to join their potential volunteer briefing or sign up at the link below. Shortlisted volunteers will receive training to provide emotional support in a confidential and non-judgmental manner, as well as to identify crises for professional follow-up.

Thank you for the abundance of kindness in your words! I have put my mind into keeping this as sensitive yet as simple as possible, so that it's accessible to different ages. Thank you for noticing and affirming that. Indeed, active listening should be a valued skill for our schools and society, more than it is now.
