i like to think i'm a tate stan especially following her since playing the keyboard on youtube days LMAO but her album is genuinely consistent, there's a storyline with so many different sides that it envelops like a book in the end; there's also lots of lyrical contradictions to the backing track, i was throwin ass to some of these songs and then i'd read the words like NO WE CANT BE CRYING IN THE CLUB

I agree a “whew chile” is needed, but as a barb, I do see why they give Doechii the side eye. There has a been a few times that she took inspiration from Nicki in her lyrics or flow, but she doesn’t name Nicki as being one of her inspos now that’s she’s blowing up. Take for example Doja who has also taken inspo from Nicki. She has always given Nick her props. So much so that we got the “thank you Nicki, I love you” line in “Get Into It Yuh”. Also, I’m not saying Doechii needs to kiss Nicki’s ass either, but if you gone reference somebody’s work, then cite the source 😬. Doechii is definitely eating it down tho!!

I didn't really start listening to Tate Mcrae until I heard Sports Car and watched the music video. I think a lot of it has to do with her becoming famous initially from Tiktok. There are definitely people on there that are talented, but for me Tiktok felt like it was just about trends and the content comes off a bit generic, and for whatever reason it's hard sometimes to separate the artist from the feel of the platform mentally. So far this is the second artist I started liking who initially got fame/exposure from Tiktok, the first one being KINGS.

I would say her newest album has the most cohesive vibe in her discography. But I understand, not every artist will connect with you. Me personally, I like what Tate brings to Pop music with her early 2000s influence but it’s not for everyone.
