Great Chapter! Something I’ve realized is just how young Bruce Wayne is at this point. He’s not the yet the grizzled vigilante with contingencies in case his friends and allies turn evil. He’s not failed to save Jason, or been broken by Bane (I assume). He’s not created an AI spy satellite to try and preempt crimes or anything insane. That Batman would have heard our guy admit to knowing his (and others’) secret identities, future/potential villains, and who knows what else and saw him as a potential threat. This Bruce might actually become more that just a mask for Batman, assuming things don’t go horribly wrong. He’s like DC’s Spider-Man in that writers love to see him suffer.

Power's up, internet's down, streets are very iced. Been in lockdown for 24+ hours, likely another 48 to go before we can really get out and do stuff again. Probably going to close schools and stuff for Monday, but at least I've got time to write, I guess?

Arkos Sloth

Checking in, fellow Southerners. Y'all doing okay?

As someone who's only visited the UK twice, briefly both times, in my life, I consulted the internet on that one. In AJ's defense, though, she's a street rat who would have only really had experience with public pools very distantly. Even those, not so much. There's a bit in the chapter where she's shown to be sticking to the shallow end of the pool, implying that she swims very irregularly or was just recently taught how to swim - by Bruce - in preparation for this possibility.

I loved everything about this chapter, from the fleshing out of AJ into a really fun character to Ardie’s glow-up to the great way Arden explained away his knowledge and his respect for Alfred. And I love how I can already practically taste the timeling shifting further. Now I just want Bruce and Ardie to have an honest conversation or a team-up. There’s just one thing that bothers me: where on earth did you get the idea we Brits don’t say ‘swimming pool?’ A Lido is just what we call open air public pools, the basic term is still swimming pool.

Diego C

Lucky for me, central Florida is far south enough to be out of immediate danger. As for the rest of y’all, stay safe out there.

Arkos Sloth

Stay safe out there!

As a fellow Southerner, I'm with you on the snow. I hope the roads are okay by Monday, because I can't afford to miss work. I liked the chapter. The explanation works well because any strangeness that Arden talks about can be written off as part of the visions. And even if things turn out differently, like with AJ, the future is always in flux, making his visions into strongly possible events instead of certainties. Can't wait for Arden to start his 00 training arc.

It's entirely possible you could go days without power if you're in the Ice storm, & it's supposed to stay below freezing for days. Don't die & stay safe!

Big ToFu

So thats where the name Bulter Boy came from. Still got my fingers crossed for Jason and Dick. At his brother as a Robin.

This is one of the best, explanations of how do you know so many things you shouldn't without painting a big target on your back, I guess being a kid helps too. But as a setup for him to be able to call Bruce or later someone else to warn them about possible things happening and outcomes, of things that might or might not happen. If he basically saw alternate pasts of futures, his information can be taken as not fully trustworthy but very likely to happen, more of possibilities in some cases very likely to happen and others not so much unless he sees some chained events or something similar. Also, I'd love if this goes long enough for superman to actually meet Mxyzptlk years later and for him to comment of a kid he saved years ago in this particular dimension, Im actually surprised Bruce didn't mention he might have made a deal with a devil or something similar (which he did) and the price he had to pay for it. So having someone with to check him for anything that might have been left on him would be wise. (Not sure if Arden would be happy with this or how much they would find). For now he can be used to predict things like future tech and things that can work, or not with the caveat that they aren't 100% likely ti happen. And how much information he managed to keep, after all even if he's supposed to be a genius and this was supposed ti change him he can't remember everything, and memories fade with time. something like I sometimes dream about it and remember things that I forgot, or dreamed about more alternate realities again as a sort of update or something similar can work too. And like the others love the Butler boy reference, now we know where it came from.

I'm with you on this storm coming in. Hopefully it won't be near as bad as that one we had a few years ago. I'm seriously considering not closing the store where I work for Saturday. Good luck fellow southerner.

Thanks for the chapter! Certainly a roll credits with the admiration for Alfred. I did like the conversation about their pasts, and backstories. Mind Games Hitoshi is one of my personal favorite interpretations of Destiny, and it’s neat to see some of that reflected here again
