Welcome back to Muc-Mhara all! This week we're descending even deeper into the weirder parts of Muc-Mhara. Gone are the pristine homes of the azure elves; we're staunchly in abyssal fae territory now. Here we go!
Borough Guide
Muc-Mhara 05 is all about the unseelie creatures of the Yartharen Sea: the abyssal fae. These furtive beings aren't exactly evil, but they do delight in terrors. Most fearsome of all are the Ambergris Coven, a trio of sea hags who have plagued sailors, merfolk, and shallow fae for centuries. Explore their origins, their motives, and their potential weaknesses in this guide's plot hook.
Maps
You have to look closely to even notice many of the homes in these depths. Occluded by kelp forests, the abyssal fae love to slink away into their favored hadal rifts as trouble approaches. The star of the show, of course, is the Coconut Abode, the bizarre lair of the Ambergris Coven.
If your players aim to take on the Ambergris Coven, you'll want the interior map for their lair. A battle against the legendary sea witches will be a challenge, especially so when they have access to their angler fish cauldron, alchemical reagents, and summoning circle. Interior maps are only available to Chief Courier tier patrons and above.
Patrons at the General Messenger tier get access to some really stellar variants this week: the dusty desert and a chill pirate village.
Music
Witches deserve some spooky tunes too. "The Ambegris Coven" (clever title, huh?) is a perfect track to whip out when your party confronts the witches. Things aren't likely to devolve into combat... at least not at first. Use this track to set the mood as the party explores the abyssal enclave. If you want to make them really uneasy, throw on the "Pleasant Piano" variant. It's so calm and saccharine that they're bound to figure out something is in fact very wrong.
