Hello all, and welcome to Demlin, the next district we're exploring in our massive metropolis of Svarnahelm. Demlin was the district you selected when we asked which part of the city you wanted to explore next after we tackled Wresyck Junction. Demlin is the corporate heart, the center of commerce, and cleanest, tallest, most opulent part of the island city. This will be a slightly larger borough for us, consisting of 6 releases. Let's dive in!
Borough Guide
This first borough guide introduces you to the basics of Demlin—who lives here, what sort of arcanomechanical devices are available, and how commerce works in the soaring towers. Next, we do a deep dive into Granitefruit Solutions, the megacorp responsible for importing/exporting as well as selling consumer goods across town. Their archon—the elegant Lady Lorel—is known as a peacemaker, but she keeps strange secrets. We explore Granitefruit's newly constructed headquarters right along the shore of Lake Druha, and then consider the massive statue that rises imperiously just beyond the retaining wall.
Maps
This first map is the northwest corner of Demlin, featuring piers for yachts and a lovely lakeside walkway. The largest building is the Granitefruit Solutions HQ. Just off the shore, the Bearer of Plenty—an outrageous display of the city's wealth—faces out at traders that will never set foot in the city. We're releasing a bunch of variant maps for Demlin, including Sunset, Misty, Rainy, Snowy, Desert, and Skyport. Future releases featuring proper roads will also include a Traffic Jam variant.
Patrons at the Chief Courier tier gain access to the two interior maps of the Granitefruit Markets HQ. On the ground floor, the company's flagship storefront sells new and outrageous devices for use across the island metropolis. On the upper floors, executives meet to discuss shipping strategies while R&D experts design new products to unveil.
Music
Our first track is Bearer of Plenty, a rousing tune for a bustling metropolis. Pulsing strings and woodwinds call to mind busy city streets, and the steady beat beat beat of the woodblock signals the unceasing pace of life in Demlin's commercial district. This is not the pure jazz of Wresyck Junction, but it is also decidedly not the quasi-medieval fare we make for our more traditional fantasy settings. Our Night variant brings down the pace and introduces a languid bass clarinet solo.
