🕑 Added 2023-07-24 16:13:53 +0000 UTCExoprimal has been written off by many as another "live service" humper of bandwagons, an also-ran that exists to make a quick buck. It's hard to blame them, because that is exactly the kind of trash Exoprimal pretends to be.
It's actually a rather brilliant bit of fun, and more unique than it appears. Capcom's dinosaur shooter is, however, indicative of a problem we're facing in mainstream gaming - the homogenization of structuring and marketing that makes games look identical even if they aren't.

I guess I'm too old for this. I can't get invested in these new multiplayer games because I don't have the time or patience to compete with 12 year old trash talkers with infinite free time. I miss the days of Quake where everyone was on a level playing field from the start and I didn't have to grind for countless days in order to get enough gear to stay alive longer than 10 seconds. I gave up on multiplayer around the time of Call of Duty and what you're describing sounds even worse despite the game itself sounding like a lot of fun.

The Destiny cursor is even more boneheaded when you take into account that Destiny wasn't even available on PC, and Destiny 2 was a console first game.

The cursor thing is a blatant violation of Fitts's Law, a tenet of interaction design that we've known about since the sodding *50s*. That's the kind of egregious disregard of institutional knowledge that would make me put a game down immediately. I don't suffer awful interfaces. I do that enough at work, I don't need it in my leisure too.
