The first half of this video felt weirdly like a reactionary conservative being upset that the media they like has changed - really not something I'd associate JSS with saying sincerely, so I'm a bit concerned for their wellbeing/stress levels. Still, the second half had some interesting food for thought, so I'm glad I kept watching despite my initial misgivings. It would've been nice to see some discussion of crossover beyond the limitations of the for-profit world though. Fan-made not-for-profit crossovers can span a vast range of genres, tones and quality so they're not without issues, but at their best they can showcase some genuinely creatively appealing content using multiple IPs - especially if comparing and juxtaposing different story-worlds, characters and ideologies in a well-thought-out way. I feel like this is one major point against "if it happens too much it's not special" - surely whether something is special boils down to its quality, not how limited its distribution is?

the freddy vs jason crossover was the holy grail of this stuff for a few many years. Honestly felt disrespectful that we eventually got that movie and it was just ok.
