The Last Of Us Part II - Through The Slime & The Mud (Jimpressions)
🕑 Added 2020-06-24 14:08:20 +0000 UTCThe Last of Us Part 2 is a grimy, nasty, and lurid game. What it isn't is anywhere near as accomplished as its marketing and reviews (same thing in this case) claimed it was. It's a fun action-horror game, which is perfectly fine... save for the excessive promises that would make Peter Molyneux seemed restrained.
Also, one has to wonder if so much extraneous detail is justified as Naughty Dog faces allegations of abusive crunch practices.
Also also, this game would have been about twice as effective if it had been put in a better order. The story struggles desperately enough as it is, it doesn't need to be fighting the poor structure on top of things.

So did Ryse knowingly book an abuser or something? They're small enough that google can't tell me how they fucked up.

The presence of gay or transexual characters is not a good reason to dislike TLOU2. Fortunately, the game provides alternatives.

TLOU1 is so good because they put all the deleted scenes in TLOU2.

High contrast mode seems pretty good but from what I've seen of this game it's kinda..... meh?

Me too! I'm glad Jim also took time to call out the morons hating the game for bullshit reasons so they can't use his review as a cudgel to beat people over the head with.
Somewhere there is a Breath of the Wild fan *furious* over that extra 0.5 you gave this and I love it.

I personally thought this game handled the message way better then Spec Ops did, as that game made it look like you had a choice but you really didn't and it tried way too hard to guilt-trip the player, whereas TLOU2 let's you piece things together yourself, like if it was REALLY clumsy it would've shown Abby with the dog immediately after you killed it, saving that for hours later really impacted me more and was quite effective.

Sorry Jim, I can't watch the video. Haven't played the game yet and don't want to spoil it for me.
What is wrong with Captain Marvel? It's a character that has been around for decades, as has Iron Man et al. Or do we now go out of our way to NOT produce a character because it's not a man? Sound pretty counter productive to absolutely everything.

False Moralism is just game corporations trying to bank on WOKEness, like Terminator: Woke Fate, or Captain Marvel: Failure to Girl-Power.

I've had nearly the same exact issues Jim goes into with this game as I did with the first game.
