@Mirthal You could have let us know what the actual price would be, however. The period between Nov 22nd and Dec 16 was enough time to decide and make a post about it saying "Sub for no less than $20 before release" but you made the 1.0 FAQ post very obscured to begin with. Now some people who have supported you find their msg box empty

People will complain with/without ammo. I'm not putting future projects in financial jeopardy because some guys want to argue in bad faith against me after 5 years of diligently getting out content.

I understand not releasing on other platforms, but your original post said patreons would be sent the files privately on the 15th, with nothing about release dates. Just that the game was ready to be shared, and that those who had paid would get it if they resubbed. Those people were/have been/will continue to be charged. Patreon allows you to Pause memberships, right? Many people would have less ammo to complain if you at least paused the patreon until this issue was resolved.

I think the people who would buy it on patreon never considered buying it on steam, and the people buying on steam wouldn't have bought it on patreon to begin with. I certainly never had any intention on buying on steam because steam does not support mobile games, only patreon would do that

general question but is it possible for you to offer Steam Keys on another Website than Steam? The game already isn't or will not be available to purchase in Germany so I am just asking. Of course only if it works with your publisher. If I have to wait a extra month or so it's fine just really want to get it on steam once available

How would it be a blow to the publisher? Releasing it for Patrons is just releasing it for people who weren't going to purchase through Steam/Critical Bliss anyway.

If anything this experience has taught me is that I'll move to never give "expected dates" precisely to avoid this kind of scenario. From now on it'll be "when it's done it's done."

We meet the criteria for all of those, it's the last check, on NSFW games is slightly longer (7 days is what they said) but it just seems like they have a high amount of games to review right now so the queue is longer. The idea is, once they give us the green check, that's it.

What day did you pay the app fee? The Steam Distribution Guide says there's a 30-day waiting period between when you paid the app fee and when you can release your game. Also, has your publicly-visible ‘coming soon’ page been up for at least two weeks? Because the step after that, in the Distribution Guide, is "Now you’re all set to release. The release controls are now in your hands and you can update whenever you want." The only other check I see is the 1-5 day one that states, "Before your store page or game build can go live, there is a brief review process where we run your game, look at your store page, and check that it is configured correctly and running as expected and not doing anything harmful." I'm just wondering where in the process you're at.

Crazy that some people commenting go so far as to accuse Mirthal of lying about the game release or otherwise having ulterior motives for the game being delayed by like an extra week. Like dang guys probably relax a little.

Here are my thoughts on the matter: If Mirthal knew this would have taken this long at this point, they likely wouldn't have even told us an original expected publish date. They would've just kept going on development like they have the past few months. As for the frustration as to why Steam is taking longer than the 1-3 business days? I dunno, I don't work for Steam. Not sure if anyone commenting here does either and can speak for Steam processes. But I can say that often a window of "expected" time from a big business doesn't mean squat, unfortunately. Combine that with them saying that just before a holiday, and you have a perfect storm of things taking way longer than usual. TL;DR, this sucks, but Mirthal is likely just as frustrated as we are, especially knowing the optics.

To be honest the whole we're waiting thing doesn't explain much. This doesn't really happen all that often and what I personally was thinking is that maybe you had an issue with publisher as you mentioned before. There are people who would like their Steam libraries to be clear of these games thus I am not even trying to check the Steam page. I am not trying theory-craft here, but people are paying money for this wait so I wouldn't be surprised of the speculation. Or should we just go unsub now and we get the codes later? Would this even happen or be accepted?

If I needed more time I would say so, just like I did every other time I needed more time during development. I don't know why some of you guys seem to need to theory craft when I've never been dishonest in 6 whole years of development. I already posted on socials the very backend of Steam with our game status as "in queue" several times and keep informing everyone almost daily. Tbh, I'm starting to get feed up with this "Mirthal secrets" shit.

If you strike out on getting Steam access to it, I know Mirthal said it'll be coming out on itch.io as well on the same day it comes to Steam. Probably you'd have to buy it to get it there, but it's an option.

It's more an age verification thing. Germany demands steam to use proper age verification. Steam refuses and uses the simpler method of just not giving us access to any sexual content. That's why Germany's steam is heavily censored. It's a crime really, so yeah we can't even look at the store page of many, many games. I hope there will be a way to play without steam too, as a fellow German. The funny thing is how you can go literally on google, and go on any fking porn site you want and just press "yes I am 18 :)" and watch the most vile hardcore content to your hearts content. But OH NO VIDEO GAMES SO BAD MUST BAN. I would argue it is much harder for an underaged person to get a steam account, actually get money onto it and then also buy a game, than click on a random porn site, click on a single button to get access, it makes no sense really. (Edit: Although, I think I heard if a German gets a game key for a game that is not in their store they can still redeem it?)

You can set the game to private or even purchase it as private so that it doesn't appear for anyone on your profile. When playing a privated game your profile will just say you're online and not show what game your playing

I want all platforms to get the same release date, so all players can get it at the same time. That said, if Steam takes too long I'll simply release it on Patreon/Itch first.
