Welcome to the Tortoise Goblin Home, a map inspired by the Horizonback Tortoise from Critical Role's Wildemount setting.
This ramshackle community features an exterior and interior map, as well as transparent PNG assets that can be labeled over existing maps, and provides a wealth of social and combat opportunities for your homebrew campaign or module.
The exterior of the goblin home contains the armored plating of the tortoise, a fenced walkway (with doors leading to the interior), and rope rigging leading up to the upper level. The upper level contains several stations, including some mounted crossbows, some stowed barrels of oil, three different war horns and a large tribal drum, which the goblins sound during battle to drive fear into their enemies and bolster their own morale.
The interior of the goblin home contains several different chambers crated from thickly woven vines and haphazardly constructed flooring. Those chambers include:
1. Goblin Shrine - A large shrine to a goblin deity is located in the upper left, frequented often before and after battles with their enemies.
2. Goblin Sleeping Quarters - A large area of communal quarters provides beds for many goblins, most of which share beds with other goblins as they trade positions atop the tortoiseshell.
3. Eating Area - A pair of large doors have been stacked atop crates to provide a large eating area for the goblins, where they enjoy feasts of whatever they managed to catch, steal or kill.
4. Kitchen - A makeshift kitchen exists, where food is prepared for the community.
5. Storage - A large storage room holds both whatever food they've managed to store, as well as any other loot or supplies they've cobbled together.
6. Prisoner Cell - A central cell provides an area where goblins can taunt captives taken in battle during transport to sell and/or deliver.
7. Armory - A small room contains several of the weapons the goblins have found or stolen from their travels.
8. Throne Room - A small throne room provides the goblin king or queen a place to rule, make decrees, punish lawbreakers and torture prisoners.
9. Leader's Private Quarters - The only solitary bed is found here in the leader's private quarters, along with some other furniture they've managed to salvage from raided villages.
How would I use this map/tile?
Goblin PC Background - If you are running a campaign with goblin PC's, this may be a great place from which they may have come. It keeps the community small, contained and easily dropped into any reasonable location in your game world, without the need of a map.
PC Rescue - When the PC's make bad decisions, they often get captured. It's possible one or more of them have been captured by this goblin community, and must be rescued by the remaining party members or some helpful NPC's.
Social Interaction - The goblin tribe may have some information, or an item, that the party needs and so they can locate and parlay with the community, potentially having to do some service for the goblins in return.
Wandering Merchants - The goblins could potentially be a recurring mobile merchant in the game, showing up on the wilderness with supplies and/or items that are harder to find in the main cities, or in predominantly human civilizations. They could also potentially be used to smuggle the PC's into lands unfriendly to typical humans, elves, dwarves, etc...
I hope you enjoy this map and can make some fun memories with it!
