Current Project (Rotating Dungeon) - Looking for Ideas!
🕑 Added 2022-04-13 02:51:06 +0000 UTCHey guys!
I've been a bit quiet this month, because I'm working on this 100 x 100 dungeon that's themed as the playground of some jester-like deity, appearing at the base of any potential staircase and luring adventurers into entering its rotating halls.
The dungeon is comprised of [3] squares, growing progressively larger as they move away from the middle. Moving from the center outward grants [4] choices, while moving from the middle to the outer square provides [8] choices. And all of the access points match, if you rotate the dungeon, which can happen while characters are inside, meaning that a door you passed through earlier may not lead back along the same part of the dungeon, and that some doors may no longer be present, at all.
I'm close to being done, but I am still looking for some ideas for the various rooms.
The criteria is this:
1. It needs to be scalable, from level 1 to any level. This generally means that the contents of the room can easily be scaled, or that the threat/experience is fairly similar across all levels.
2. It shouldn't all just be combat, but a combination of some combat, some puzzle and some social encounters.
3. I'd like the experiences to be fairly varied, so no one room feels exactly the same as the others.
The areas I'm still trying to craft a fun encounter around are:
1. The library maze (combination of passages and chambers).
2. The green portal.
3. The purple and white platform.
4. The ritual circle and giant pit (I had thought perhaps the party encounters a group of creatures involved in some type of ritual, and they would have to decide whether to stop the ritual/attack, or to assist/participate in the ritual. If they participate, perhaps it offers them some type of buff against the creature to the south. If they don't, then they have to face the creature without both knowledge of what it is, as well as the potential buff.)
5. Two medium-sized encounter rooms (not yet dressed).
6. One large-sized encounter room (not yet dressed).
If you have ideas, reply here, or come chat on the Discord (https://discord.gg/m5PxbRc).
Best,
Jeff @ Morvold

Anytime is good for a chasm to jump, or a statue with laser-blasting eyeballs! :) (or both at once)
