She wasn't sensing the aura covering her very presence. Most of her peers were already showing strong earth magic shows, healing the nature, shaping the very Heart of mother nature. For that, Dormaris was left alone. She was not allowed to attend magic classes or potion arts. She felt like an outcast...
One day, while wandering aimlessly, she sighted a human soldier at the entrance of the woods. It was unusual for humans to be this close to the Heart. Dormaris approached to human sneakily, or she thought so. Within a few steps, human noticed her and asked for help. Seemingly, soldier human was hurt. Cautious she is, asked what he was doing here and human explained he was chasing an assassin and how he stepped into his trap, then wounded. Even though Dormaris was capable of no magic, it's not unusual for a wood elf to gather a couple of ingredients and make an efficient medicine for the wounded. After half an hour, soldier was already feeling better. He stand up and was preparing to get on his way back to army.
Dormaris noticed how many weapons he was carrying. From bow to spear, knife to sword... Was he really good at all these weapons at the same time? She asked curiously and he replied "If i were bad at even only one of them, i weren't be able to be a soldier. My favorite is my spear. But i know how to wield all four of them." Dormaris felt even worse. She couldn't even cast a simple magic, it wasn't fair for him to be good at so many weapon arts. She burst into tears. Soldier asked what was wrong while trying to calm her down. She explained her situation.
Without hesitation, soldier offered his help, to little one. He asked her which one of the four weapons she liked the most. Dormaris inspected all four weapons. Spear, sword, knife and bow... the last one quite took her attention. From that moment, the human soldier taught how to wield and use a bow to Dormaris. Every three days, they were meeting at the very same spot- for 9 years. They grew closer each day- until one day human stopped showing up.
Dormaris never heard back from that soldier. But she was thankful that she had become someone unique in the Heart. She may not able to cast a spell or mix all the complex ingredients to brew a potion. But she learned how to land a shot from far away and how to deliver the sentence to it's target.
