Samantha Lane

The possessive 's' and apostrophe in the singular: My soul, Tabitha's soul, Chris' soul (can also be written: Chris's soul). Plural 's' and the possessive: the revenants' souls (can also be written as the revenants's souls), the masses' souls (the masses's souls is also okay), or, the hunters' Guild. One large exception is pronouns, there is no possessive s or apostrophe for any pronouns: my soul, your soul, her soul, his soul, their soul/s, our souls, its soul.

Samantha Lane

Again, Sense Souls' breakthrough fundamentally changed how I feel my soul. => Soul's

Samantha Lane

especially after spending so much time fixing my scared soul, => scarred

Samantha Lane

just looking at them made me feel a fantom pain in my chest. => phantom

I think like MikeL said, a new location but also the context that comes with it. I want to see a fleshed out place, worthy of existence and with its own sense of beauty and struggle. I want to see Tabitha, excited and pleased to share her culture with Ilea so that we learn more of how and why Tabitha thinks the way she does. I want Ilea to be shown issues that the villages face and struggle to come up with ways in which she can utilize her skills to help those common people. This is theoretically a crafting story that has outgrown its premise but I would like to see how all of these experiences are utilized to feed into Ilea's primary passion of smithing; then used meaningfully to solve the issues she perceives. Ilea the fighter/explorer is neat at times but Ilea the crafter is where the meat is and when it is time for her to come out, everything that lead up to that point should be fed into the moment.

Timo Immig

There are two enchanters who can do T5 runes

Penguin Glutton

And weapons

Display Name

It would be pretty interesting to see her spec into more of a magic swordsman or magic knight like build. Focused on enhancing her melee power with magic to cover weaknesses. Though, with the title of the book, we are probably going to see her being better at creating magic tiered armor sets for 100+ humans that are specialty made for their users. Thus allowing them to fight at a higher efficiency.

Penguin Glutton

I believe only two can make 5 tier weapons or enchantments in all of Olbert

Display Name

she isn't the best human smith yet, she is just a extremely good one. They do mention a few times that the capital the general is from has top tier human blacksmiths.

Penguin Glutton

They'll accept her for her talent

Not my Real Name

She isn’t his successor or student yet. For that to happen all the pillars of scholl need to approve of her. And the likelihood that all of them are just hanging around the capital are real slim. So i think there will be a time pf at least a week or two where she will be confused with a courier or messenger. No one suspects that the world’s best human smith is 15 years old.

Penguin Glutton

Will there be a Academy thought they get tutors

Penguin Glutton

Tabitha got protective big sister vibes

Timo Immig

I would be satisfied if the situation was them escaping while the dragon and a elemental fight. A fight between giants. And them trying not to become colateral.

Penguin Glutton

Well she mostlikely be introduced as Pacores successor the noble kids would be jealous of that and the resources she has at her disposal

Not my Real Name

some noble kids making fun of Alayahs clothes as she looks like a country pumpkin all the while bragging about the high tier armor they just ordered from this obscure smith and how alayah will never be able to afford something like that.

Jon Oliphant

LOL an academy arc. Is she going to be the innocent white lotus or the abused villainess?

Derek Walker

You would also need to take away her movement skills, which are much higher than anyone her age too. I am not saying there are no benefits, if you literally take away everything that makes her good, then she can work on things she isn't good at, but I've never found it a fun troupe to put the main character in a situation where they are just vastly superior in nearly every manner to their immediate peer group, and that's what we would have here.

Not my Real Name

She is currently lacking the danger skill. So if you take away her mana skills and absurd stats for a month or two I can't imagine a better enviroment than a school full of hormonal teenagers to teach her that very valubable skill. Also it could teach her about different fighting styles while in a safe enviroment and not to underestimate her opponents that might have a very different approach to fighting than what she knows so far. Also the face of the rival in school when they realize that Alayah has been sandbagging the whole time would be a fun read.

Derek Walker

A school arc here would just have to be something of an info dump. It's not just her stats, but her skill levels are absurd too. I am not sure what we the reader get out of watching her go to school to learn like geography and etiquette since any fighting, skill training, crafting, etc. has to be done with people far older than her.

Not my Real Name

I always assumed a school arc would be waiting on alayah in scholl. Where she would meet many students of the same age. She would probably need some restrictions on her stats that she is allowed to use. Just to avoid her standing out too much. Just to help her catch up on the basics that many noble kids get drilled into them.

Derek Walker

A courting “arc” would I feel be dreadful. Tabitha would kill them all anyway for Aaliyah. Saying Aaliyah is support focused is technically true, but sort of misses the point. Even if you gave them equivalent levels, there are likely only a handful of people within 10 years of Aaliyah’s age who can keep up with her in a fight, especially now with her increased skills after leaving the magic forest. A year of even basic combat and spell training in scholl will only widen that gap. She’s already close to figuring out how to magically enhance her sword. That’s likely the breakthrough test for inject mana.

Timo Immig

I don‘t think so as long as youre higher leveled than your wife at time of marriage it most likely fine. Second as she is mainly support focused her level has has less of an impact. At last Aliyahs confition to marry is likely her looking at the courters soul. This would eliminate most suitors.

MikeL

I think dating royalty would be the exact opposite. In Scholl they must be the strongest, they can’t have a spouse who is higher than them.

Ironwolf

I wanna see her trounce “The Unseen” in mana manipulation

Penguin Glutton

I see her more being challenged

Display Name

See our MC get courted, and date guys or be pushed into a marriage with royalty due to her crazy leveling.

Penguin Glutton

I wanna see the pillars and the big 5

MrGaujail

They were always there

MrGaujail

There was always 7 moons in the background of her outer soul world as it reflects the real world. The moon eyes differenciate from the rest only when she try to access her or others inner soul.

MikeL

A new location will be a great start. Advancing her blacksmith and enchanting skills, she needs new armor and weapons. Then new spells.

MikeL

More spell-hammer.

MikeL

At least we now know that 100 isn’t the end of the road for skills. They I guess evolve into new more powerful ones.

Penguin Glutton

What yall excited for in Scholl?

fuble878

It was a bit more than 2 week when they reached the crater.

Jon Oliphant

Pretty certain she distributed points during the goblin fight for that recovery boost

Gon of the Dra

Thank you for the chapter!! Good chapter, slightly slow but a good set up.

Penguin Glutton

Finally

Thaldor

I imagine a feather from those wings would be quite the trophy. Also, 7 moons? Looks like she got their attention at last.

Penguin Glutton

Maybe more

Penguin Glutton

At least 2 weeks

Otter Pops

How long has she been in the forest? In real time it's been a year.

Penguin Glutton

Yup, any soul

Derek Walker

She got 7 from the soul horror (75-82), at least 1 from the goblin. I’m fairly certain she started off as level 74 in the forest, as she was almost 74 when she saw pacore

Jon Oliphant

I don't know. I'd really like to see the MC have a big challenge that takes some serious effort and does give her set backs, but this just doesn't seem like it. Especially after the narrative has been jerking us around in this forest. Admittedly IRL I'd be all dragon? Let's call in the marines and maybe an arc light strike. This isn't real life though and it would be one heck of a let down to walk away at this point.

Jon Oliphant

Wasn't it 9 levels? She got 8 from the remnants, picked up another before the goblins. Heck they may get the chance to eat the goblin village on theway back as well.

Derek Walker

I don’t know the answer to this as I can’t remember if the distinction was ever made: but we know absorbing the core of a human soul with soul devourer is bad, like cursed bad. Does that also apply to animal souls too?

Sleepyfoo

An argument can be made that the soul damage so soon after doing things that should have given her crazy levels in her skills basically prevented her getting her just rewards. Either in the sudden flood of excess XP preventing the soul from growing as it should have from the skill XP, the Soul attack she tanked knocking loose the newest XP first, or something else interfered in the levels showing up as they otherwise should or would have. This can also be used as justification for the next few skill levels being super easy, as she already qualified for them and just needed to knock them loose. I also think some of these should count for passing the Test in skills that haven't made it to them yet, so maybe she will just level past that like it wasn't there. Sadly, the system as seen isn't that forgiving but who knows.

Sleepyfoo

Didn't she only have 2 moons the last time she was in her soul? She now has 7 moons, so have the rest of the Gods started paying attention to her? I feel like that is a really important detail that she just glossed over, as she was really surprised stonekin had 3 moons when she looked too closely at Del. Does that mean she now has the blessings of the other races? or since she still only has connection to 2 moons she only has the normal human stuff. Could she feel that connection before, or is that also new?

Display Name

Nah, it could be a more general goal when she come back home to visit the village in the future to slay the monster herself. They are low on supplies, barely holding up, and yes they changed their stats up a bit to help kill it, but they should know their limits. it would be a good change of pace to see the MC fail at something

Derek Walker

If they wouldn’t constantly keep referencing how it’s possible to kill it (less than level 150, they know what to look for, assigning stat points specifically to fight the beast) I would agree. But it seems pointless and in retrospect would be annoying if they ended just escaping without fighting

Display Name

Loving the chapters, keep it up. Still I dont think we need to kill this lesser dragon in this arc, as long as they go back to the village looking like they just crawled out of a mosters butthole and show their insane growth.

Hectorbeserk

Aaliyahs on the path to become a proper spell-blade

phantom

ah that was something I was thinking. it is likely in much better shape as Tabitha was not being crushed by the experience. but I imagine it likely still took damage.

Derek Walker

For that to happen she would have to tell them. They can’t really judges her level lien pacore and Aaliyah is even secretive to them about her exact stats

phantom

Going to say this is actually an issue with numbers in system rpgs in general. they are easy at the start but the longer they go on often starts resulting in more and more issues building up. it is a problem too deeply ingrained into this story to do much at this point.

Ironwolf

Personally I wanna see Aaliyah’s brother + Sandra’s reaction. Her brother might e gained 2-4 levels through the building and managing of the wall, and Aaliyah went out for a month and returned with 8.

Jon Oliphant

Thanks much appreciated. I must have missed the notice

Luboš Hemala

I hope Tabitha's soul is in better shape.

Derek Walker

At least for this chapter, I felt for example magic threads should’ve leveled a lot more, same thing with her soul skills, which according to what you’re saying they should be growing even more than that. In general I understand the concern about Aaliyah getting to strong. But if that’s the case, then Aaliyah shouldn’t be put in situations where ridiculous growth is needed (like there didn’t need to be 20 soul horrors, 5 would’ve been enough) but if you’re going to put her in those situations, and then not give the expected level/skills growth then that’s also a problem.

PaperMache7

I do feel that there's an issue where skills grow according to the screen time they're given rather than their actual real use. This is common in a lot of stories where a timeskip of years can occur with some decent skill growth, but then that's matched with a week of effort that happens on screen.

Stephen Pearson

All true, but also understandable - it's pretty clear the author is justifiably worried about running out of headroom for Aaliyah's growth. Though you're right that it's been inconsistent for when really difficult things don't give as much growth as apparently easier / more common events. That said, this chapter did have an explanation built in, that the consumed experience was still being integrated into her soul, which makes these smaller feats have increased impact.

Penguin Glutton

Love this Chap! My most anticipated part I wanna see Pacore reaction and Scholl

Derek Walker

I think the story, plot-wise, is the best it's ever been (maybe tied with Pacore showing up to the village) but I do feel the System elements have become a lot more inconsistent. When Aaliyah fought the bird, she gained 2 levels in magic threads after one quick usage, here Aaliyah weaved a Kevlar-like mana skin for hours and only gained two more levels? None in mana manipulation at all? Same thing with manipulate soul. Only 1 level here seems small for how novel the use of the technique was nor was there a level in sense soul for looking through the damage. All of this follows on top of 118.3, which did not do much for consistency. Inject mana gained another level here, which was half of the gains she got from the surgery on Tabitha, which was ridiculously more impressive. For some of these, I think the underlying issue is discrete vs continuous use. If Aaliyah continuously uses a skill for a long time, that's somehow treated as one use, but if Aaliyah uses a skill for a short term, that's also one use. Fighting the soul horrors is the easiest example of this. If Aaliyah got 3 levels from the bird, and 3 from the goblins, that's somehow the same as fighting 20 soul horrors? Based on earlier uses, if she fought one at a time, and then came back, she would be at level 30 in soul devourer. It does not feel skill leveling should arbitrarily depend on something like if Aaliyah stops and starts a skill, or even really the gap in between skill uses.

Timo Immig

The leveling curve is exactly described in the notice after Chapter 20.5 on royal roads. It's 5% for all Levels above 70.

Nickie Schmiers

I needed this after a long Monday.

Nickie Schmiers

Agreed. He's going to be shocked as heck. But so is Kevin. The assassin is gonna have even more insults for unsatisfactory kills.

Jason Hobbs

I never write reviews but wanted to say that I am very glad that you have resumed writing this story and have enjoyed all the chapters. This chapter worked for me and I am eagerly waiting for the next.

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter!

Derek Walker

It’s been at about 5% increase in exp for a little while. It may have been 25% for lower levels but it has dropped. At 25% the exp requirement would double every 3 levels, and it’s nowhere’s near that much lately

Some Total Kretin

This chapter was good exactly because it's wrapping things up instead of exploring some theory or other and we can sense the anticipation and - maybe in the near future - get the payoff for what's been set up. In conclusion I'd like to quote Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's review of Alien:Isolation - "You've built suspense, Alien Isolation. It's a very nice suspense, you can stop building it now. No, I don't think it would look nicer with a conservatory! Put that trowel down before I smack you with it!"

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter! :-)

Jason Markus

I'm dying of anticipation of pancors reaction when he finally gets back to pick them up and both are like 20 levels higher... I mean he left them in a nice quiet village and they go and find a winged serpent to kill. Wtf about that is keeping her safe Tabitha?

Jon Oliphant

Thanks for the chapter P.S. has the leveling curve changed? She and tabitha don't seem to be following X(n+1)=1.25*X Should read x of n plus one equal x multiplied by 1.25

Reis_

Thanks for the chapter
