Bulwark

Really enjoyed this chapter 😁 as usual. Happy to be a new patreon, good luck

Alex Johnson

I've really enjoyed your story so far. Don't let minor hiccups like you described in this chapter's note hold you back. As for for a bit of constructive criticism, You don't have to display the entire stat block multiple times in a chapter. Maybe just display any changes through out the chapter as they happen and give an end of chapter progress report or only show it when when multiple skills, and stats change. As it stands I mostly just scroll past it, because you usually mention the changes in the text following the stat blocks. Your story stands on it's own.

It would be interesting to see what kind of weapons are in use in this society. Like depending on the kind of armor widely in use would also determine the common weapons. I would suggest looking up the era you are going for and the common armaments used in it. Of course, I don't know if you've already done this or not, plus it depends on how realistic you want it

You had trouble? Huh. Couldn’t tell! I really liked it!

Dave_S

Aaliyah could tell the common people to focus to walk in line so that everyone gets more skill ups for marching -> possible lvl up for all. Could maybe grant her a leadership skill

Talespinner Lore

Honestly, I can't write foght scenes well myself, so I can only say how it feels from a reader's perspective, and point out grammar issues. Overall, good chapter, please give us more to feed our rampant webnovel addictions.

Talespinner Lore

God's >>> Gods hands bluer >>> hands blur

Talespinner Lore

looks conferrable >>> looks comfortable

Miritar

Thanks for the chapter. I really enjoyed it.

Call0013

Pretty sure The marching simply Comes down to Skills. They make that much of a Difference.

tibbish

Author given that both sides are likely to be unskilled and use, at best simple tactics only at the start of the fight (after that it'll probably devolve into a mosh pit fight of blood, death, and Dung plants) its probably best to just apply the KISS principal here and not try to over think things.

Imef

You used "nock" instead of "knock" twice. Nock is a special term for readying arrows. The chapter itself was good enough.

Arkeus

Where far enough away from the other villagers that as lo0ng as he talks quietly, <= we are, long “What is that small!?” I yell at father from behind my hand. <= smell

Emma Carlin

I wrote a small novel that was almost entirely large scale fights. It's difficult af, but you'll get through it 👍. I personally recommend embracing the chaos to some degree. A bunch of villagers are going to freak out in combat so chaos fits with the atmosphere and we don't need to know every little detail.

MadGod

To all of you "experts" teaching the author about proper fight scene length and paragraph distribution, try doing that after you've surpassed his ratings and number of readers. Until then kindly keep your crap to yourselves.

Dax

You had 5 paragraphs of explanation on why she was able to find an opening in the middle of a fight scene. You should cut that down drastically, in my opinion.

Miriduriel

The most confusing part about this chapter for me was the fact that they were marching, in a forest, in the middle of nowhere :D Just how? Keeping 70 odd people that are untrained in formation is hard work at a parade ground for experienced leaders, let alone in a forest for those who are not used to it. So some added information might be needed to explain that, is there a path they follow? Are the trees just that far away from each other to leave room to march between them? Is the ground even and not filled with roots and rocks. As for my advice for the battle, would be to check on the terrain you have planned for it and how battles have been fought in said terrain. While looking up and writing on how to set up a phalanx is nice and all but if the tactics used do not fit the terrain then it will just make me sad.

Toni Pampliega

Nah, morè skills. Commanding or leadership skill should bé a nice addition, specially if she must directe people in a forge, for exemple. She Will get unarmed combat skill?

There needs to be a second r for sparring. Sparing means to show mercy. Great chapter, thanks!

Random Information

About battle scenes: try to make the action fast - you don't need to go into detail at first. And battles are confusing, which can be reflected in the narrative. For example you could describe Aaliyah fighting goblins in Tunnel Vision mode, not knowing what's happening around her. Then getting pulled out of it and given a specific job. Then, with the battle over you can have other people telling her what happened elsewhere and Aaliyah recollecting specific points in the battle and the skills she used at this point. Of course if you want Aaliyah to be a commander, then she would have to be aware of events happening around her at the time, but I suspect that she's doing enough trying to be a magic blacksmith.

fbt

It was good. Ty for the chapter.

John Curtis

I liked her putting the chief's son in his place, its always nice to see things like that.

Richard Davis ll

This chapter turns out really well and I can't wait for the next one take your time and I'm sure it'll be great

Ungrave

I enjoyed the chapter quite a bit. Once again, I always hope for more skill development, but I get that she can't check out her soul in the middle of a march. There were a few typo's I noticed, but it looks like other users have mentioned them. As always, thanks for the chapter! (glad that she isn't a blood thirsty idiot that likes to beat up low leveled people)

Pyrefiend

I thought the chapter was good. Most authors skip the logistics of travel, but including it helped keep a realistic perspective.

Solarlancer

i think she knows Katana is not effective and she is doing it more as a challenge, also she wants to have a real katana i think

Ilya Hamisoniya

As far as I'm aware katana is not efficient against armors, so in this world where blacksmithing is so developed thanks to skills/enchanting, people have higher strength to carry far thicker armors, you have better metals and hides it probably wouldn't be useful against anything except monsters or civilians. Straight swords, swords with Flamberg blades(they are extremely hard to make, but they are not much worse slicing than katana but far better in thrusts), maces, spears, two handed hammers should be very popular in the battlefield probably. Or maybe super thin blades like rapiers for extremely skilled people to go for weak points like eyes.

Tommy Mullane

Thanks

Mike G.

I was just coming to post those. Also, that as lo0ng as he talks quietly -> that as long as he talks quietly arow -> arrow in many places

Toni Pampliega

Answering: the chapter was really well done and captures the amateur fighting style of a lost village.

Andrew

Thank you!

Sean Wilner

Typos: "Master looks conferrable" -> comfortable "Pulls me to my feat" -> feet "What is that small" -> smell "Ronald's hand bluer" -> blur "Angry look form Lucas" -> from "Upmost confidence"-> utmost Thanks for the chapter! I thought the march and sparring were well paced and it made for a good chapter.

Solarlancer

the chapter is good, it was refreshing to see someone herd inexperienced fighters and the fight at the end was handled well. Also poor Braddon, he really needs to work on his social skils

Michael Buchler

She was scared of the Farkas. Likely she wanted to collapse out of relief

Robert Mullins

Only thing I don't understand is why she was about to collapse after using intimidating shout. You've never said that it costs anything.

The Human

I thought the fight was handled well!

MadGod

Aaah, that's the stuff! Withrawal symptoms were getting really bad.
