Titania

BUT I LOVE IT MULTIPLE POVS ARE THE BEST AND YOU INTEGRATE THEM SO WELL INSTEAD OF JUST SLAMMING IN A PERSPECTIVE!

thkiw

None of us are really free. We all share bonds with others, and their connections are as shackles. Besides, it's not a bad thing. If she gets strong enough she leaves after taking care of some problems. If not then she stays and learns combat and magic from one of the top experts in the country. Plus, he's not forcing her to do anything.

Jan Jakubcik

I hope that she runs of to see the world, or goes somewhere where she can practice smiting in peace, because I do not like the development. The whole situation with forced apprenticeship is pissing me off. Freedom or death, nothing less.

Jean Fere

He only had to provide her materials once

1Crash

You could always go 3rd person omnipresent lol. Thanks for the chapter!

ZaA

I'm waiting for Max to be another of Giovannis spies. That or he betrays him

Dantalia

this is gonna be fun! i am looking forward to reading more!

bob barker

it'd be funny if he contacted her and told her to deliver the goods to wherever he is. Then when he picks them up at the different place, he gets -20 levels. heeheehee

Red Viking

Dumb asshole.

Alonzo garcia

Poor guy never saw it coming

Chilling_Monk

I like the story a lot as well, doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. Author has a great story but it doesn’t mean he/she/al. is automatically a perfect writer. Getting feedback is part of the process of improving. Considering other people seem to agree with my points Im probably not completely wrong. Kosnik is currently making over 8 k a month, a very substantial income especially considering the lower amount of chapters released ( compared to other RR stories). I greatly enjoy the general story and world building but the unnecessary povs combined with low chapter output are influencing my decision wether to keep my subscription or not. I would think it would be of interest to the author as well to know what the readers think.

Obsidianking

I like the snippet of grey at the end because its like the end of a show, when they foreshadow other events to come. I'm wondering if tabitha and Aaliyah are going to be sent to hunt grey. Also didn't grey have to provide Aaliyah materials and stuff... so isn't he breaking the contract... hmm I can't wait for her to snap his soul with the contract and probably use it to advance her sense soul ability past its test. Over all I liked it a lot, and hopefully enchanting soon, but also please take some time to think of a good system and how it will work.

Timo Immig

One will order Aaliyah to cancel the contract out of pure rage.

Comiak

The mustache-twirling is real with this guy.

Zarik0

“Is it ready?” Tabitha asks me, holding a beaker of prepared herbs. “Ready when you are,” I give her the go-ahead. I don’t know what it is, but as Sandra uses the tongs to place the beaker into the forge, This is a error its Sandra who hold the beaker and not Tabitha here

Dave

Great chapter as feedback the pov changes here worked really well to paint the picture glad most of the chapter was MC

bob barker

feedback? lookin' good. keep it up.

DvaDI

Did you even read the chapter? He was about to be killed by Giovanni.

D

Aya, i liked the receptionist... kinda. Hope they have something to help such burn wounds. Poor grey, he certainly will regret his actions. But... he reaps what he saw, right?

Pyrefiend

So Grey's master plan was to throw away everything he has worked for years to build, and find a job somewhere else? He doesn't seem to care about Aaliyah, so all he got out of this was money. He could have made much more money from simply doing his job. I also doubt anybody will want to work with him now that he's earned himself a reputation for betrayal and explosive backstabbing. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Extremeone

Just came here to say I loved the chapter, thought it was really great, and I'm loving the directions the story is moving in. Please don't listen to the people like Chilling_Monk. You are doing a fantastic job with the story and the different points of view.

Wei Tung

great chapter, can't wait for the next one

Tom Henman

Good chapter and now I need my next fix! :) To those mentioning how the levels in the contract hurt development, do remember A has a rather unique way of breaking contracts and might gain quite a bit of skill from this one also. Still I don’t think G really understands just how bad it is to have 1 wanting you dead. The bigger questions in my mind are how did he time leaving so close and who is his informant.

Carl Mason

Ooh, twist! Very well done, it may be a pain in your neck but this style is worthwhile. Thank you for writing.

Dash Marley

Fun chapter, thank you! I like the POV shifts and learning more about the world!

Osamaru Ta

XD I can't wait to see his face when Grey realizes his contract's been broken.

Justin

Good chapter thanks!

Chilling_Monk

I have written this in other chapters already, i think it would be better if you only used first person perspective for aaliyah. Your povs feel top similar imo. Also really try to limit other povs to the limit. Aaliyah has feelingly barely progressed in the last 5 chapters and instead we got a lof of povs we frankly dont really care about too much. For example the double perspective for the siege of the city, city lord pov was completely unnecessary, imo best option have been to leave out pacore completely as well and instead write the scene from the pov of hidden agent with the commentary in whats happening inside the the city and outside and then reveal the twist at the end. Also this las pov of grey was completely unnecessary, this could have easily been a short part of another more important pov of him in the future, either when he arrives at the new city or shortly before aaliyah hits the contract. Just really try to limit povs as much as possible. It kills the flow of stories most of the time and makes us read about persons we dont really care about.

Hangwind

Actually, I expect we will at some point. That sounds like a Chekhov's Gun to me. In fact, I'm wondering if it's not a backdoor into the Dragon's lair.

Tera

Well ether until One catches him, olebert exchanges him for Pitz Aliyah cancels the contract. I think there are to many solutions for him. So I don't think he'll be a long game menace. Thank you for the chapter!¡!

Max Scherer

So nice plan, but if Grey succeeds its will be bad, because he is a shit villain. Hes mostly annoying in my opinion...

Straven

I'm looking foreword to his co tract being cancelled and most of all his horror at it!!! Thank you for the great chapter.

thkiw

So he's gonna be a consistant pain in the ass now huh?

Sondadir

Pacore said that it was difficult for a Villager to reach this kind of level in their life. They are isolated and their options are limited. The boy is a city dweller, not a villager. It's much easier for them, they have more resources.

Håvard

Well first MC need to know that she is the one that need to take care of the problem. And she don't need to hurry to do so yet.

Sky

Is level 37 too high for that new trader? I heard pacore saying that people who work hard get to 40 near the end of their lives. So either this kid is really talented to get that high level at such a young age (ps. What age can they access the system again?), or it is easier than pacore mentioned

Håvard

3 months? The progress on this status is for 3-4 weeks. She have 90k crafting xp and need another 60k total to level if she got 90k in 3 months she whould not get 60k in one easy.

S. Nutter

Thanks for the chapter! I can't wait to see how Grey gets what's coming to him.

Artim

Grey could still escape, since N.1 would need to contact Aaliyah and for that get closer to village, then again back to Drey and maybe even wait till Aaliyah breaks contract at given time. In the meantime Grey could have gotten the intel and run.

Bad Timing

Nice chapter overall. EDIT: Missread as 3 month instead of 3 weeks timeskip, ignore rant Still, Aaliya seems pretty happy of her progress, which is a bit weird since she progressed a lot slower than I would expect for three month (compared to say a single week of forging). Her Hammer skill / art in particular have made almost no progress for something she spend 25 to 30 days training (2 days a week for 3 month). --ENDRANT Though I am not as surprised her dancing is so low, since she doesn't really care about the skill all that much, which may have an influence? From a development perspective, I hoped to see the end of the enchanting ink arc, but it'll have to wait. I just hope the 5th step will prove itself trivial instead of another slog. Depends on how much time pass to the next timeskip.

Artim

I know a lot of people complained about POV shifts, but for me they were always welcome addition to the story. They gave the universe more depth. More character. This is actually first time i feel like i missed one. I would love to see here meeting that was between Pacore and Giovanni, maybe even how is Lord Rayes after capture. Some kind of meeting between important people in Blaiton. While this new POV is nice i would welcome it much more in the next chapter after i saw the meeting that resulted in decision to move on Grey. Second thing that bothers me and was already mentioned by other comments was the lack of communication with enchanted devices. While I can create a situation in my head where number 1 would lack one, i find most of them unlikely. And if not her, then I would expect her sister - receptionist to have one since in this chapter, it was demonstrated they can communicate at a certain distance. Now I understand why would you send letter as well, but I would expect that Giovanni would be prepared to attack Grey the moment he had made deal with Pacore. Contact N.1, she would contact Aaliyah, they would chose time to break the contact. N.1 waits. the contract gets broken at given time, she attacks.

Azur Kris

Using a century year old pass through tunnels in a giant mountain that hasn't been maintained and forgotten? Sure. It will be a wonder if everything else works out but he's quite the idiot if he doesn't wonder why the pass has been forgotten. Cave in? Monster territory? ... Sadly he'll most likly die through another method and we'll never find out the secret of the mountainpass.

Andrew

Thank you!

Jo Gucoka

Read the contract again, you missed something 😀

rasmus1070

Nice chapter : )

Timo Immig

The contract sadly only says that Grey has to arrange a pick up after 4 months and after the new year. It doesn't state an expiration date explicitly.

Hawk Silverthorn

Good chapter! I'm really looking forward to see just what happens to Grey!

Black Unicorn

Ohh god I hope not. And I hope it's not by something that wouldn't give Aaliyah his levels. His ass should lose them first then die slowly due to the lose and maybe even torture. I know a few that would be good for an animal like that thing.

Alteron

Great chapter, thanks.

Black Unicorn

I have to agree. I would have locked him down to me with a contract so tight even air couldn't get though the cracks.

Kirvin

Yeah like others have pointed out, the contract says: Leonard Grey will handle the pickup of finished goods produced by Aaliyah of Spotted Creek Village four months from the date this contract is signed after the new year begins. I guess he has something set up already? But what happens if whatever he has set up fails to reach the village? RIP levels?

Black Unicorn

ME TOO and I hope she's the one that shatters it like she did with kaven's.

Black Unicorn

Yes but also it was a kind of the spy you know situation. Though with how unfazed Giovanni was to his betrayal I would have had him killed a long time before now.

Black Unicorn

I so hope it's Aaliyah that kills him by destroying that damn contract... and I hope it hurts so bad his great grandmother regrets ever giving birth to any kids. On a lighter note good to know Sandra is doing well. I hope you let them get that ink done before Aaliyah has to leave.

Melting Sky

This guy won't die pretty.

Todd Kloos

Why send a coded message via courier when Giovanni could have sent a message instantly to #1 via magic communication treasure? Also did Giovanni really let Mr. Grey become an important branch leader without making him sign a contract that would prevent such a betrayal? For an organization that is so paranoid it seems strange that they would leave such a massive vulnerability to betrayals.

Aclys

this is... a very good point, did the ever so clever grey just screw himself over?

fireking50

A good ending to this chapter would have been Grey's reaction to the contract breaking, but looks like we will have to wait until next chapter, hopefully.

ShadeByTheSea

Grey's pretty stupid, even if Aaliyah didn't have her contract breaking ability. Him not sending the merchant to buy her stuff on new years breaks the contract.

Stephen Pearson

Seems that Grey is overlooking the clause where he has to show up to buy her goods or he's in default of contract and she can take 20 levels. Maybe he assumes that with her low contract skill and the distance she can't? Also, he's matured into a right proper villain that you love to hate.

Narasan

I like the mix of slice of live and action

Giperman

I hope Aaliyah gets killing expirience if Grey dies from contract removal.

Todd Kloos

That's why they should have killed Mr. Grey a long time ago. Leaving alive an enemy that they knew was actively plotting against them was extreamly stupid.

Kminttech

'“Is it ready?” Tabitha asks me' - Pretty sure this is supposed to be Sandra considering the context but I could be wrong.

Enif

Good chapter. I can't wait for Grey to get what's coming to him.
