Aaliyah needs to have some true opposition and Tabitha & Pacore are just those kind of characters. If she just breezes through all obstacles with ease what is the point?

seasparks

people don't like Tabitha????? she's unironically so cool!

Nikola

I worry about Tabitha's health such a binary existence can be good.

Tabitha hums in thought. “At least you have a decent amount of Stamina. You might not be well trained, but at least you lasted longer than some of my other partners.”

TheOne320

Thanks for the chapter. A general question, but why does Aaliyah not ask Sandra what her masters cost would be for her teaching rights? Even if it were a lot, I think the benefits of learning all of Sandra's spells would even out the price.

Alteron

Like always I am looking forward to the next chapter, I believe that Tabitha and Aaliyah have the potential to be good friends, they are both training fanatics.

Sheeprat

I have been meaning to say this but please dont listen to the comments to much this your story taking criticism and changing things here and there is fine but dont get in a bad place and try to change every detail because of it you can not make every one happy

jiecut

Nice to know she still has gaps in her skills and training. Exciting progress on the horizon. Also she has Lvl 40 sword skills which is nothing compare to her opponent.

tibbish

Its a balancing act. And you have to consider too that this is the author's full time bill paying job now as well. The author obviously can't go and try to please every individual complaint, the story would be a mess, BUUUUT they also shouldn't ignore consistent and widespread complaints either. So far we've just had 1 chapter (the previous one) where a lot of people complained so its not entirely unreasonable that the author at least try to do some sort of changes to address that. Which they did. And I think the author did a good job of it too going by my reading + how the comments are mostly this time as well. So I think saying ignore all the comments is a bit strong. "Everything in moderation" is a cliche but it also has a lot of truth to it too.

Melting Sky

Dragons are just better than humans. It's been quite clearly stated he is one of the most powerful humans in the two largest human empires on the planet.

closeded

I've like Tabitha for the most part; what I haven't liked is Aaliyah's behavior around Tabitha.

Guilherme Silva

Seriously, there haven't been 30 years since the idea of footwork being important became part of our culture, and they don't have our amount of information. Canden have the minimum training and her dad not even this.

Alonzo garcia

I think it’s just high time she learned some useful stuff and we get back to the basics to build some foundations as the training arcs always claim. Great chapter

conkerer

Great chapter, I love how they ended up talking about footwork. Basic of the basics and I'm shocked that Camden or her dad wouldn't be able to tell her about it but if they were just bullcrap as teachers I guess that's how it is. I'm still confounded why she would ever think smacking a shield head on would be a great idea ( I'm pretty sure even a child who has ever touched a shield a bit would imagine that isn't the smartest idea) but highlighting her lack of experience works wonders in this arc. Mostly a nitpick really since there is a lot of good here going into the overall arc.

Alonzo garcia

This man is stating facts out here

Kelan

Tabitha is too different from Aaliyah, as well as being borderline bipolar with her only having two emotional settings of emotionless and dripping wet when talking about pacore/fighting. They won’t get along or at least in my eyes if my significant other cant even fake interest in my hobby (A’s case being blacksmithing) I don’t see any romance being possible.

PrinceCorwin

I feel like readers often see characters the way that main characters see them. You introduced Tabitha with our heroine immediately disliking her, which led us, the audience, to dislike her as well.

Bookwyvren

Wonderful, just wonderful. Found you because of Macronimicon, and spent all night reading everything posted from beginning to end. I like Tabitha and her weirdness because it feels like her master would only take on the strange and talented. so she fits right in as a character and how she acts for me. I can’t wait to meet the other apprentices.

Lommel

I put off reading Ch 91 because reading the comments there made me afraid I would not be able to stomach it without being able to read a more digestible follow-up chapter(s). THE COMMENTERS ARE SOOOOO STRANGE! Ch 91 is perfectly fine. @Kosnik4, you have my permission to mostly ignore the comment section. Maybe look at _my_ comments because mine are mostly reasonable, but you may ignore most others.

Håkan Friberg

I think with this chapter it's getting back on track. What grated me was the fact that she was forced into an apprenticeship, whether she needed it or not is another discussion, and her response is to casual swallow everything Tab is throwing at her. It would make more sense if Tab just forcefully forced her to submit. But she represent someone who, perhaps not willing, considered killing Aaliyah as a better solution than to leave her unclaimed. So far we had close to no backlash from that part of the story. It would be expected she'd be grumpy about that and not take any shit from Tab. Yes you wanted to convey a battle junkie but it's like she has a master painter infront of her and ask him/her "but can you play Mozart, if not - what good are you?". Of course I exaggerating but just to make a point. I love the novel and you can't please everyone at every turn. Keep up the good work!

Augustus

She show it in the fight against Pacore and it would be a waste to leave a mage as well, when he already left Tabitha as a guard and trainer. It would take time away from training her in combat, and would likly not be effective since they would lack materials to help train, Aliyah has plenty of weapons and armor to train with and I thinking that magic training would require books, and more specialized training materials to be the quality of training that would help her. Even if a common mage would come what would he teach her the magic words? The mage would have the same issue as Sandra, mana control would end up with her teaching the mage, and I dont think that changing or hiding the mana signature is a common skill so it would require a high level teacher, which would be better used at the front the finish the fight quickly.

Lommel

This can only be said be someone who's not experienced anything even remotely similar. She actually acts quite reasonably given the context you mentioned. I'm fed up with people claiming it "reasonable" to just go with the flow under such circumstances. or even "appreciate" it. It can be as beneficial as you want to make it on a purely logical level, but ANY creature with a big enough brain HATES being controlled. That's actually one of the actually valuable and reproducible insights in psychology. Example: experiment Rats in electrifiable cages experiment. Two groups of rats had the exact same exposure to being "grilled" by electrical currents. However, one group got the switch to turn it off (for both). The ones in the group with the switches was completely fine even after many "electrifying" experiences. The other group, although not a second longer exposed - but without control over the situation - was a total mess and very unhealthy looking. So the "objective" reality does not matter one iota. Loos of control over ones life SUCKS and is what living creatures pay most attention to. No matter what some commenter here says. You cannot compensate with nice gifts for loss of control. You prefer being a tightly controlled employee with a strict contract, or earn much less but as your own boss? Many of those who have a reasonable chance for the latter - and the MC here has perfect chances of making a living - choose the latter, especially after experiencing corporate life.

Ninetails

Indeed, it also really tramples over her worth as a smith, all of which causes dislike for her. We would have gotten a much nicer impression of her if she had instead repeated trip her up, disarmed her, thrown her around and had the weapon get to critical positions.

Ninetails

Indeed, her passion is blacksmithing, her main talent is magic and easy skill leveling. Close combat is just a bit of self defense for her, that was kind of necessary.

SFS

I kind of think that Aaliyah learning to fight will help her blacksmithing in the long run. Right now most of her designs are basically either things she's seen in media, or things that she remembers from earth. Neither of these can take into account the skills and stats of this world. I think by learning and seeing how high level people actually fight, what kind of skills they use, and how they move, she can better design and build equipment to compliment the abilities of the users.

Dikfor

You never played Star Wars Galaxies. lol

thkiw

I still think aliyah is an idiot for not mentioning her talent in magic. Sandra can't teach but it doesn't mean no one else can! Just a few words and they might find her a proper teacher. Doesn't scholl control drey? Surely someone stayed behind. Even a normal battlemage would skyrocket her abilities. She doesn't even know how to change her mana signature yet! How can she use flame or earth spells singlehandedly without even trying? Her mana manipulation abilities are much stronger than any other abilities she might have! It's a shame she doesn't use them!

ActionKermit

Agreed, there's so many of us that trying to incorporate everyone's feedback would lead to incoherence. The main thing is to keep going and reflect.

John Scott

I like that people are calling her on her shit. She was too high level before so no one in the village could really tell her no if she chose not to listen. Hopefully this is the start of a more mature world view. I like adding some fighting, since now that enough people know of her, I doubt she would get left alone without some martial ability. I could see her turning into a monster hunter to get more supplies for crafting.

mpop

” crackling highena” should be ”cackling hyena”.

John Scott

Huh. The only one I can think of is Perrin from wheel of time.

Atli

Thank you for the chapter!

Sheeprat

i do not under stand why people want nothing but crafting even if you love your job you dont do it 24/7

Alteron

They are pretty good, but there’s a large change happening, I think it’s for the better, and I am curious about the future.

Max Scherer

I mean sure it sucks that MC gets beaten, but I just hope that same doesnt happen when she shows her blacksmithing skills.

Melting Sky

"I care about everyone's opinion." This right here is what is screwing you. Fixating on what you think everyone in your audience wants rather than on the story you wish to write will poison your entire creative process and eventually it may even cost you your drive and ability to write at all. Trying to please everyone is the surest way to end up pleasing no one. Quit worrying about what random internet idiots think of your writing. The only person's opinion that truly matters when it comes to writing this story is your own. The rest should be taken with a grain of salt.

tibbish

I think this chapter AND the last one were pretty good but I guess I'm in the minority here.

Alteron

Thanks for the chapter, one thing that bothers me is Tabitha’s destruction of the armour. In a training session the deliberate destruction of expensive equipment shows arrogance and disrespect.

Infinate Fail

Our mc was never really meant to be a sword woman. From birth she worked on magic skills, and by all rights should be a mage when it come to combat. Her skills with magic are a result of her natural talent. With melee combat she has to learn without any pre-existing knowledge and seemingly no natural skill. She really needs to do a little magic, maybe get questioned on mana skin to show Tabitha her magic talent, then be taught by a mage. She is not a warrior class, but a mage!

Bonobo

Thanks for the chapter, loved it!

Carl Mason

I loved the chapter, but if Aaliyah is going to continue training with her, she needs to make some armor that doesn't care about for Tabitha to cut up all she wants.

Andrew

Thank you!

Wei Tung

can't wait to see Aaliyah level up and surpass Tabitha

Black Unicorn

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I've gone from a low ranked school where I was one of the best kids there to a high end school and it was odd and humbling and I learned a lot more about a lot of fun things that I'd never have been able to at the lower schools. Hell I even learned how to make moonshine out of leaves for heavens sake.As for her seeming dum now just think her only female friend and the only real mage came back and she's trying to learn by force something that's vary hard to compare try learning the foxtrot with no one else and no music and no step map pad. Its going to make you prity stupid if your kind of single minded like Aali is, though she is a lot better then Tabitha

Knightfire

Nor is Pacore a beast when you look at the wider world or he wouldn't have been trashed by the Dragon. Aaliyah lives in a small corner of a small corner of the world.

Knightfire

Really liked the chapter and I like the story progression. Aaliyah to me is not acting childlike but instead very realistic. Whatever her past life, in this life she has had very few setbacks. Moreover she has been the most talented person around by a large factor. When you have been the biggest frog in a small pond, you are very likely going to act like a brat when the world or Pacore or Tabitha suddenly make it clear that you do not know how big the world really is.

Black Unicorn

Vary good! I thought Tabitha would be a bit more forceful then you made her but still good. I love the bit on dancing, one little known fact is that a lot of football star running backs and wide receivers take ballet to better there movement. also male ballet stars are STRONG! if you think the ballerinas are light your wrong some can wight more then 160lb even as thin as they are because there all muscle and bone almost no fat.

Jywert

I don't get the negativity but do realize when people say they don't want another fighting story. I would agree that I am here for the crafting too, and not for the fighting. But people do seem not to realize how one's worldview/position affects your behavior. Going from a low-tier public school to one of the best departments in University to study and learn will make on humble to be able to learn. Many times you need to learn how to learn again. But do agree how the latest has been a bit bashing. "Me dum dum no understand". Overall I would say I do like the story and people seem to forget how "early" we are in this story and the author's experience in the creation. But there is a mismatch between her "real" age and current age. It won't matter in the future as much but is she 15 or are they 30+? The childish part is very reasonable for one age 15 but for older ones? Not so. One could also say that people after a point stop growing mentally and only age physically. The experience in life grows one's mental age and maturity, but one needs to willing to learn. To recap this rambling mess. I do agree with negative feedback but I would also not change anything or very little. Just keep up hammering.

HardhatDoozer

Well we know that the materials that the armour are made of are top tear for Her former country and made with either 3rd or 4th tier skill level. But it doesn’t have protection runes yet. So that probably gives Tabetha a strong advantage through skills and enchanted weapons.

Limbus

Liked the chapter.

David

How can Tabitha so easily cut through both Mana Skin and Aali's armor? Is Aali's armor just not very good, and Mana Skin worthless against a sword? Or is Tabitha's sword epicly enchanted or her sword skill extremely high level?

Mist of Shadows

I'm not sure calling her simple minded is the right way to say that little miss MC... single minded would be better, it hurts the ego less.

Bsoxmk2

I enjoyed this chapter. It made Tabitha more likable and I also liked how Aaliyah is taking Tabitha's teachings to heart.

Zarik0

I still say MC is too much a hasty stupid child who dont think at all and is shocked at everything obvious, that seem too much wrong and false with her background and what she did already in this world In the last 5-10 chapter i feel its another MC who get more childish and have thrown her brain This aspect is a hard negative for me The other aspect the author write are good (i like particulary some of the choice the author take in the plot/story) but this new childish no brain aspect ruin and impact all other, this is boring and unrealist and make me growl/sight/roll eyes/paf my head every 4 sentence most of the chapter because her childish stupidity who feel wrong (for the past MC and in realist way) appear everywhere And you didnt need to make her stupid and childish like this suddenly for "make us see" she is not perfect and can fail and make mistake and vs the world she still have a long way, that is obvious and we already have exemple of this before, this is so forced and feel wrong the suddenly childish aspect with her not thinking at all, its like you lobotomied her suddenly (And the bashing with same interaction with mother all time is zzz too at some point)

Blood Shade Games

I enjoyed it.

Desurtfawks

Wooooo, its on time!

1Crash

This chapter spells out what I thought you were aiming for with Tabitha. I couldn't quite get why people were so upset with the battle last chapter? But hey if so many people have complaints might be worth taking another look and spelling it out like in this chapter. Great story still and I still think it has tons of potential. Very entertaining A++ work keep it up and happy you got the chapter out on time :D.

GingerClanger

Could Tabitha be a Future Love Interest..!? Is Sandra's Wedding Safe from Aaliyah's Clutches..!? Is this the Start of Aaliyah's All Female Harem she Always Wanted..!?

luda305

This chapter does a very good job redeeming Tabitha as a character.

Chilling_Monk

I thought tabitha was alright even if weird. Aaliyah in the other hand has been behaving like a brat for a while. Sure she has been involved against her will but they really gave her the best scenario opportunity so she should st least appreciate the effort to teach her.

Rhaid

I kind of agree. This is a crafting story, but it seems she is now going to be focused on fighting a whole lot. I came here for crafting, not to watch her become a fighter due to her wounded pride like this. Hunting the camo spiders was decent, but at the end of the day I want to see some cool crafting and her selling the crafts/becoming famous because many people see her craft.

Straven

Honestly I'm happy with the chapter and the stories progression. She's not op nor instantly catching onto everything with no effort let alone work. Her work along with her skill got her here and it's with those two that she'll only continue to grow. Thank you for another great chapter, looking foreword to the time she manages to shock her new teacher so much her emtionless face breaks into clear shock, again!

David Zimmerle

Never understood why every blacksmith character I find specializes in a non-hammer weapon

marids

It's a sad day when one finds out a when a previously promising fiction is no longer worth following/reading. I used to think the problem was from Tabitha, because of how annoying and irritating her entire character is. But no, after some introspection and thought I've realized the problem is entirely from Aaliyah instead. Aaliyah doesn't need to tolerate Tabitha. She doesn't need to do any more than the very minimum to satisfy Pacore's terms while doing things. She doesn't have to care about being able to beat Tabitha. She could choose to not care about learning to fight well with actual thinking in combat for real tactics and strategies over simply getting enough stats and skills and equipment and whatever else to become powerful enough to not even have to think to win in fights. But no, she's doing all this because she got goaded and her pitiful pride couldn't take it, neither from Sandra for her teasing nor Tabitha's provocations. People were right. Aaliyah is a child. One that I didn't mind neither the flaws nor the immaturity of due to how entertaining she could make her life to read about. But in the end instead of being a protagonist that is fully in charge of her own story, she's just one character that's acting in relation to the actions of other characters, which is sadly not the kind of story I care much for. Thanks for all the chapters, and I'll wait for the free chapters to catch up.

Tom Henman

Good much needed chapter! Starting to tie some things together and develop a relationship between T and A. (wink wink nudge nudge)

HardhatDoozer

Tabitha certainly picks up on hints of the depth of Aaliyah‘s potential and age. I think it’ll be good. Training with people with much lower stats is always awkward.

Melnik5

crackling highena

Nick

Thanks for the chapter

HardhatDoozer

Skipping one, and now we are in a bit easier territory now all helped I’m sure.

HardhatDoozer

This is really where I thought we were headed with Tabitha. But you know the storm is always darkest before the light. The flowers come out because of the dreary or menacing rain. Tabitha is an opportunity like that. This chapter finally gives her that chance.

Obsidianking

Good chapter, I absolutely agree that Aaliyah is a frog in a well and we're now seeing the problems with small village life style. I really like how your expanding the skill system, were skills are not so rigid and they lay the foundation for the future. Tabitha came in with some baggage for the readers maybe, but I think this chapter paints her in a more likable light. The dancing is a nobels duel was funny and a good example. Keep up the good work, maybe have tabitha observe Aaliyah, around the village and see how hard working she is and stuff.

Chip Twothousandone

great chap

Robert Mullins

Are you okay? do you need someone to call the police? I don't know if it was intentional or an accident but, you're updating on schedule today.

Justin

Really good chapter! I liked where you went with this one. MORE PLEASE!!!!

GuyWhoReadsALot

I enjoyed it.
