A little bit of research will show that female breastplates were, in fact, designed to contour to display the breasts a little. It wasn't individually, it was basically equivalent to a tight sweater, a pronounced singular bust. And it wasn't sexist, because men's plate armor often emphasized a bulge at the crotch. No joke. They apparently cared to accentuate sexual characteristics in armor back in the day.

I have seen folks run, bend and jump in [Full Plate Armor] in re-enactments. Leather just weighs less but mobility is not that impaired.

I don’t know where you got the idea that people wearing full plate armor can’t bend down. That’s totally false. Full plate armor is meant to be very mobile. It is made so the wearer is able to run, jump, and even do flips( saw it in a YouTube video). This is a smithing novel and it pains me that more research wasn’t put into historical weapons and armors. You got close to the problem when you mentioned that armor with creases reduces the structural integrity of the armor itself. By having smaller plates, it produces the same problem. She should listen to her master when he said metal armor is what saves people.

Beautiful that the problem with the heavy weapons was solved magically. That way you can also do ridiculous stuff like stopping high momentum targets like.... a dragon ....... later on. I really adore the solution. And the rooting was a good idea. Mana Manipulation should go from big and intern to small and extern ^^

Yes, but Sandra mana sense skill is garbage :p So she would not be able to analyse the flow of mana in an object. Especially if there is a great distance between Sandra and the object.

No, an gambeson is an pure cloth armor. It does not use metal. However it is very often the inner layer of armor. So you have an steel brestplate or ringmail with an ggambeson underneath. Just an by the way gambeson could block arrows depending on the bow and the arrow.

Or if she simply formed the internal mana structure of the items she forged into the shapes of runes? Everyone keeps saying she's a genius when it comes to that, so maybe she can skip the enchanting ink and draw the rune circuits right into the internal mana structure itself.

What she is making is either lamellar or brigandine I suggest you look into them as the plates are suppose to over lap not have gaps. Armor doesn't do it's job if it's not there. Also the plays are rivitwd on not seem on so attaching them should be at dels not at her mother's. Also armor that forms to a womans chest doesn't make it any worse, armor has historically conformed to the fashion of the time, look up codpiece for an example. Shadiversity has a few videos on armor and female armor, i shuggest watching those to know why it's not as nad as people make it out to be.

What would happen if she shaped her mana into runes with just mana manipulation? Most mages couldn't do it but maybe she could.

Plate lamellar cuirasses are a more flexible option for torso armour which is pretty much what you have her making for the back plates but hers are bigger and have a gap. I would say consider filling the gaps with chainmail sewn into the leather as well

Armour of small plates on top of leather or hide would work just as well to prevent punctures and cuts provided theres no gaps like if its layered like roof tiles or scales. It would be worse however at distributing force over a larger area as the individual plates are smaller. If the impacted plate is partially in contact or layered on another plate some of the force would be distributed over that/those plates too but a much smaller amount overall compared to one large piece that generally makes up bracers, vambraces, cuirasses,

You can get very different styles of plate armor which allow for more movement and flexibility, with lighter and stronger metals available wouldnt be a stretch solves her weight issue too.

Given that this world's greatest tank doesn't use any sort of internal mana reinforcement, it may simply not be possible to use mana internally in such a manner. Unless I've forgotten it, we haven't seen or even heard of a single example of any sort of internal buffing magic in this world and all of Aaliyah's techniques including the mana roots she is currently working on are all external. The one example of magic that gives me even a sliver of hope that these sorts of effects might be possible is the fact healing spells exist.

I now plan to keep my roots extended perennity as I do with Mana Skin when I'm outside. I wouldn't be surprised if I unlock a new skill soon. "perennity" doesn't really make sense here. "perennially" maybe, if you want to use that word but you probably just wanted to write "permanently".

thx for chap, dont like that she doesnt get any profit from her mage friend but oh well. also, i thought she would get a bit more exp from crafting. Or it was just me? Also i can see that she is kinda moving to (i hope so) to some kind of mana reinforcement skill for whole body(inner body).

I feel like "a whole bunch of small squares held together by leather" is just one short step away from making proper chainmail. I'm certainly not an expert in armour but I've spent a great deal of time listening to an enthusiast talk on the subject on YouTube. Also I'm looking forward to when she can run up trees with that mana root skill since that is pretty much all she needs to run up vertical surfaces. Thanks for the chapter!

I imagine this armor will be used in conjunction with Mana Skin, using the Skin as almost the equivalent of chain mail, stoping piercing and slashing attacks on her weak points

I didn't even think about the problem with momentum, and her weapons. I imagine she's going to find away to fuse her body with the earths mana and also use that to break through the mana manipulation test. I like the Idea of mana cleats could be useful for scailing walls or slippery surfaces. Also the idea of the tiny squares over leathers sounds kinda like scale mail, but it might be less protective of arrows and piercing attacks. Over all great chapter, and small time skips are good we don't need every day and week of her life detailed.

Shadiversity had a great video a while ago for how feminine armor could both evoke a female form and be just as effective as male armor. He focused on the dome shape to platemail, but the same concept would apply here. The dome is what actually does the defecting, since a flat surface is more likely to catch blows than a round one. In male armors the dome tended to be lower on the abdomen for aesthetic reasons, but there's nothing mechanically detrimental to moving it up to the chest for a more feminine shape.

I got the impression that the author was speaking of the detailed body print armor that has pecs and abs beaten into it. Or other details. Not necessarily armor that is built and fitted for a woman. You wouldn't expect to find a woman wearing armor that was flat and fitted for a man, it would not work as well for a woman because it sits differently. But overly detailed armor that has nice breasts cast into with a good shape and everything would be just as useless.

If she isn't making something to protect her face or neck she'll need to add some type of stop-ribbing if she's creating armor shaped to deflect (the triangular shape your were talking about).

Really enjoyed it. I like how she shared more than normal about skills and found the new way to use mana, mana spikes! Lots to look forward to. On another note you've been constantly getting out your two chapters a week. Maybe not always on the day you intend, but you notify us and are in a reasonable timeframe. So congrats and good work!

I'm betting that the tests for Chanting and Mana Manipulation will be passed by opening up a skill like Silent Incantation to let her chant spells in her head instead of out loud. Then Weighted Strike, Precise Strike, and Double Strike together will probably open up a skill like Penetrating Strike. I have no idea how she's pass Charm though, unless she uses it to keep a Scholl inspector from realizing how high level she is.

I wonder when she will begin incorporating soul power into her mana. We saw the soul eater create a powerful barrier that way and she did mix the two energies when she learned the tier 6 skills so I am eager to see how the two energies interact and what she can do with it, especially considering her talent and use of mana alone.

It is the culture, which unfortunatly does not have to make sense just look at some of the clothes from the past and other things people have done like witch trials. Some things people do are not logical if people were logical about burning witches the Monty python joke about burning the witch would make no sense.

I'm still not sure why people are so hesitant to reveal stats and skills. Obviously you don't want your enemies to know what you can do, but she's keeping it secret from her, so called, best friend and family. The only reason why you would want to hide it is because each person's test is personal and knowing someone else's "answers" would give you a different test. For example, if Aliyah explained her experiments with pushing mana outside of her body to make a double layered mana skin, then perhaps it would make that test not be available and she would need to come up with a completely new way to expand the limits of mana manipulation.
