Thanks for the chapter! Just a guess, but I feel like the ink recipe will require her to infuse her mana into it at some point to make it work. after all it is supposed to be a magical ink?!?

Suspense....killing.... Me

Konrad Zielinski

I suspect it should be: it's sad to say.

Konrad Zielinski

Where it reads: It's said to say, but I've given up trying to

Just one small typo:

I know we went through this just a couple of chapters ago before her and Aliyah came to an understanding, but it's honestly just ridiculous. Aliyah did *literally nothing* bad here, she's very nearly of age and her brother and his fiancee *are* of age. If her mom didn't seem like a nice lady other than this one thing where she's ridiculously vindictive and infantilising with her child and completely unable to allow any perceived slight against herself (plus the punishments are never anything too bad, but that doesn't change that the punishments shouldn't be happening in the first place) I'd honestly call her emotionally abusive with how you're writing this.

your_sweetpea

My experiences growing up may have been different, but honestly I'm kind of annoyed how Aliyah's mother is more of a "memetic Mother" than an actual real feeling human who's a mom in the story. Like come on, getting angry at you keeping the secret that your *grown brother and his fiancee* asked you to keep, understandably? She's not 12 and trying to hide that she accidentally broke her mom's favorite vase, how can her mom not respect that they would want to share that information themselves?

Timo Immig

Yes Armor! The thing most people lack and could save so many people. What offen gets forgotten armor doesn't have to be primary metal. Most people had a linen armor (Cloth armor) that was actually not that bad at protection. If you had a metal armor you would often put it over the linen armour. As Linen armor consists out of multiple layers of cloth it provides an affordable armor. Even with chainmail or platearmor you would wear a cloth armor in order to protect yourself from bring in contact with the metal directly. (Gambeson, Linothorax, ichcahuipilli, as historical examples)

Nemanja

Typical male comment on shopping and decorating, but don't worry the rest of us guys feel the same.

Sheeprat

Give her a axe/warhammer

Albedo's Ahoge

First half of this chapter was extremely boring. Anyway, thanks for the chapter

Stephen Pearson

From Aaliyah's reaction to Del's reveal, they have a longer life span, but not necessarily higher vitality. Though it seems they would want to extend their longer lifespan also?

Alonzo garcia

Usually humans are given an extra leg up in most LITrpg due to us being so weak. We can already see that dwarves have a natural higher vitality and by quite a bit. Is there gonna be any of that or is it explained by our high “birth rate “

Ungrave

I wonder if Sandra would be willing to let her inside her soul to remove the contract? Sounds incredibly invasive, but might be worth looking into?

D

Hmm, aliyah is pretty rich, or better, she reels a lot of money in. Coudnt she at least ask how much money sandra needs to be bought out of her contract? There is also the other question, is it a heritage contract? I mean, does the contract goes over to his succesor if the old mage dies or is the contract voided after? If the contract goes on even after death, how would she be able to buy it out? Put money on his grave?

Melting Sky

You do have a point about her skills overlapping if she picks a war hammer, but there is a reason war hammers were never the dominant weapon on the field of battle in our own world which is they really aren't that effective outside of the narrow task they were focused on accomplishing which is dealing with heavily armored foes. Against something like a large monster or any sort of nimble opponent including most humans, a sword will work better.

Alteron

Giovanni contacting Grey, " I am just calling to say goodbye" , “Aaliyah the girl you swindled, yeah she can break the contract anytime.” :-)

Sondadir

She doesn't need to figure out a recipe. She obtained a recipe guideline from an enchanter. So all she does is copy, she doesn't invent anything. Part of the reason she manages to copy the ink is because of her Mana Sense skill. Anyone as high as her in this skill is either a mage or an high-level enchanter. These people either already have the ink or don't need it. And they have no interest in joining a merchant company, they are part of the organization that imposes the monopoly on the engraving ink. Another point that Del made,is that high-level enchanters use several differents engraving Pens and inks in their work. Even if Aaliyah manages to copy the most basic ink, it won't be a revolution.

SilentStriker

She's a smith with leveled Hammer skills. Warhammer only makes sense. Why waste time grinding a weapon that doesn't synergize? Humans are the worst monsters you can encounter, anyways.

PaperMache7

It really wouldn't be good for the world building if Aaliyah somehow managed to figure out the recipe for the engraving ink as she currently is, she has practically no skill in Alchemy right now, this is like someone deciding they're going to make a five star full course meal when they don't even know how to boil eggs yet. If she manages to get anywhere as she's currently doing then why would engraving ink be a closely guarded secret at all? Any company with some gold to spend would manage to complete the recipe after enough trial and error. The MC shouldn't be able to bend reality reality for plot convenience. She really ought to reconsider the way she's going about, right now it's just throwing money into the void. Start by learning the basics of Alchemy and Herbology, figure out different processes with your mana perception, actually learn about the subject and acquire some solid understanding on how these things work. I don't know why no one in her entourage has mentioned this either.

IJustWannaRead

There a million ways out of it, but it is a terrible contract for her. 1. With no time limit she can never renegotiate or sign a more lucrative contract with someone else after she is done with this one. 2. She wants to travel, she can’t sell her wares to Grey if she half way across the continent. This means she can’t sell anything unless grey moves around with her, which I doubt he could keep up, doubt she wants him, and doubt he wants to go. 3. Her friend kervin gets killed. Not exactly the contract, but it is also because of the contract. 4. No specialized orders. Everything must be sold to grey, so powerful individuals that come directly to her must be redirected to Grey first, and she loses a percentage of the cut for personalized weapons to grey without him even doing anything. All 4 of those things are bad for her. She has no flexibility in her work, no way to become more lucrative with growth, and can’t make money while traveling with smithing. Of course there are tons of ways out of the thing, it’s a terribly written contract all ways, but it is bad for Aaliyah.

Jonathan Seah

Why is everyone still not considering the loopholes in the contract? There were so many pointed out during the contract's introduction that I'm sure Giovanni can find a way to break it from the outside. Simply providing Aaliyah with sufficient materials to make something Grey can't afford to buy and that would be that. Plus, I can understand how Keel/Giovanni considers the contract bad for them, but from Aaliyah's perspective, the contract isn't really bad at all.

Yod

she absolutely needs to, same for her master. WIth how BIG stats play role in this world and all that str stat her master has. he shouldnt even feel the weight off it on him and he gets all that yummy extra def to save his life, same for aaliyah and tbh even better for her due to high vitality, unless monters pierce her armor and body she should be fine from all crushing attacks (of relative power)

Timo Immig

Before she goes in the Forest she will need Armor. Relying only on her magic shield which takes mana is stupid. The armor should be light but very good piercing protection.

Vyktor

Next chapter is Reel and Giovanni POV? Thanks for the chapter, full of fun 😋

Solarlancer

since crafting will be involved im hoping to see her make a new weapon for herself, but not one weapon. it would be smart of her if she has enough materials to make 2 weapons like an axe and a sword. also i know she has mana barier but it would be nice if she made some armour because sure mana skin can protect her but armour does that without mana cost.

Adevna

Swords aren't what you use for monsters though. It's a problem of form. It's something fantasy fiction often overlooks for the sake of coolness. I don't have a problem with that, but what you want for creatures is a spear. But I don't see why she can't make both, or compromise with a halberd or glaive? I mean, they're not really for creatures either, but many spear techniques can be used with them, and they have the benefit of being great against other weapons. She's been using swords though... so who knows what she's actually going for with that.

SFS

Since she is probably going to start making her next weapon soon, I hope she's decided to go with something other than a Katana. I feel like, considering all the monsters she's orobably going to have to deal with, a longer reach sword like a Claymore or Zweihander would be better suited for such a task.

Todd Kloos

Just snapping the contract and killing Mr. Grey isn't enough. They also need to do something about the bodyguard Max, and they need to find a way to destroy the physical contract (since it is proof that she committed a crime). It seems like the logical thing to do is for Aaliyah and Reel to run to Drey and either force Mr. Grey to dissolve and destroy the contract, or just murder Lennard and Max before destroying the contract.

Adevna

Oo, thanks for the chapter!

Matt S.

Yeah, a relationship build on good old fashioned trust isn't too bad. :P

IJustWannaRead

I’m really hoping she just snaps it. I know it’s unethical and out of character, but I just want the slimy shit to die and be gone. Furthermore it would send a message not to fuck with her to the silver herd. They’ll be much, much more respectful when making contracts. Overall tho I bet the herd will simply kill him off or something instead of Aaliyah killing him with her skill. Also, really hoping we learn the plan at least next chapter. This thing has been sitting in the back of my head for what feels like weeks and we end on a cliff without learning what they gonna do.

Alteron

Thanks for the great chapter.

Max Scherer

ohh love it Mr Grey is sooo fucked :D

Forestfire

Which came first again?

Ungrave

Yeaaaaah! Crafting chapter!!! A fairly direct method to deal with the contract that guarantees no one will be signing any contracts with her to bind her ever again, but I can see how it's probably the best option here. Thanks for the chapter!

Forestfire

That was fun. A little bit of girl time then the plots and bloody revenge.

Hunendora

More crafting is always good. Hope we get to see Giovanni's response to the betrayal contract and finally learning one of Aaliyah's skills. Thank you for the chapter. 🙂

Andrew

Thank you!

That One Guy

Great chapter. :) Can't wait for more

Hunendora

"... so I don’t get got up in the failures .. " -> caught up “I’m aloud to..." -> allowed

Sial28

Thanks for the chapter. I like the cliffhanger.

Patrick Schuldt

Yay, crafting next chapter 😍
