The-Anti-Akuma

Seriously, I get an email saying it's updated but have no clue whats been changed.

Ato

can you please mention what things you changed on the next chapter post, whenever you make an update?

Dustin

I always get so excited when the notifications comes up for this story, then I find out its not a new chapter but old one that was edited... Kills me each time.

a lee

so i like all of this so far but the story flow gets diverted with so many pov's so i had a idea maybe use this pov after mc meets the general for the world building this pov is, to me that would keep the story flow ps i miss the mc's pov (flow / immersion) thank for writing, keep safe in these interesting times.

Dikfor

I'm too spoiled by the recent releases coming fast. Great story!

Robert Mullins

Any chance for a Sunday chapter?

Ninetails

Now that contracts have come up again, and how "low level" contracts are not so good, it might be good/have been good to get an idea of what a contract even does to enforce itself. A contract without any way of enforcing itself isn't really worth much, but that might actually be a result of him being so low level, which means that the effect really is just the effect of people thinking it has an effect.

Håvard

Well looks like you did not read the comments them :)

MadGod

You can really see the quality of the commenters when 80% of them don't even bother to properly read the story and seem to think Giovanni is Aalyiah's grandfather.

Håvard

He promised to hide her magic and interest in enchanting. If she wanted to hide more she schould not be using her makers mark.

Bad Timing

I am wondering if the contract is still active. Kervin promised to help protect/hide her. He might be trying, but he clearly hasn't been holding up his part of the bargain.

Lesley Douglas

Thanks for the chapter. Interesting things going on and the plot is moving along. Kervin, should not be as cagey with Aaliyah as he was with his boss as he will lose whatever advantage he thinks he has. I do agree that before Kervin goes back to the General he needs to be able to appraise MC's work so that he does not get shafted and can go head to toe with Christopher on price.

tibbish

Yeah unless you luck out the apprenticeships in a Medevialish society are essentially long term borderline predatory relationships which leave the student at the mercy of the master for years and/or force them to fall in line with the local politics and economy.

Chris

Bah

Brian P.

I'm really not loving the increased number of outside POV in these last few chapters. I feel like this is mostly information that could have (and maybe should have) been given and expanded upon when Aaliyah meets the various parties. If she won't discover it herself then perhaps it's irrelevant and we shouldn't be focusing on it as much. Also IDGAF about the politics or fates of the various nations/merchant guilds/whatever.

Sondadir

She doesn't want to be forced to work for the Kingdom. She does not want to swore an oath of loyalty to anyone, which is why she refuses to ask a mage for an apprenticeship.

tibbish

She is trying to keep her independence and not end up as some powerful persons forced laborer + protect her family.

Todd Kloos

Giovanni actually asked a good question: what is Aaliyah's motivation for secrecy at this point? I don't think that it is just because of Del. Also what does she actually need to keep secret now and what can she safely reveal?

Iskimo Joe

She’s not though. The healer lady is his daughter, not Aaliyah’s mom

LesbeanAda

Kristaps Kramins

She has too little renown for that and it is too early, but definetely something that could happen. Though I doubt it will be an indipendent thing, more than likely she will go with either her mothers family or the silver herd. She is good, and capable of producing high quality stuff. I doubt she will waste time with free repair or hiring miners. Besides these ideas aren't new or revolutionary, pretty sure any merchnt worth their salt knows that. To me it seem like the story is gearing up to wisking her away from the village and throwing her into one of the big cities.

Håvard

Hm Tera noted last chapter Del left home about 160 years ago. Its actually closer to 168 (he is now 238 and left when he was 70). So that is about how old the Silver Heard company is, considering it was an inexperienced father of Giovanni that made an deal with Del some 160 years ago. So Giovanni is over 100 probably in the 120-160 years old range. While the bodyguard is in the high end of that estimate. considering he have been working for them before Giovanni took over.

Toni Pampliega

Ah, I forgot one last point. Marqueting/Packaging. The top products of Aaliyah should be should be presented in wood boxes (his father) with her logo (she is from our world, so she should know something about it:) and she should get help (her mother?) in the selling. Postservice : one year free repair, cas outstanding quality. XD Finally, to increase the production to adapt to the demand she should hire miners or the general, to increase production and deliverys, ask Kervin and send help. Something like that.

Toni Pampliega

Oh, there are many formulas to implement the idea I posted before. What is sure is that Kervin should have a headache with the increase in quality of the weapons Aaliyah produce. haha. Furthermore, he should try to buy all the donated weapons to the village (the spears), to increase sells, protection of the kingdom, etc. Even Aaliyah sword. :) In future chaps, he should receive special requests (like a shield, armour, etc) for different key soldiers in the wall. I hope Aaliyah create a new bow (+200 strenght), to sell with the first shippment of the arrows. The face of the genereal should be described in detail. LOL.

Håvard

Oh if you are going to have this chapter the merchant schould probably request 1 spear and if possible 1 arrow to be left with the contact so that they can evaluate how good the items actualey is.

Håvard

Edit: 3 I do not belive it there are a lot of good blacksmiths. The problem is that they are all known. The reason everyone is so interested in her is that she just passed level 50 and got her makers mark. The enemy soldiers won't know this fact. At least not untill it's common knowledge.

Toni Pampliega

Some comments for nexts chapters : 1) Kervin should hire one mage or enchanter to evaluate the work of Aaliyah. Or contact a enchanter in the route to Teeburn. If not he can't properly put a price to the products. Otherwise, he could buy pre-enchantment equipment and make the MC compare to her work. This way he can have an estimate of the value. Kervin has never (I guess) trade with magical equippment. So, he should get as much info as he can before going to Teeburn. 2) Arrows fly both ways. In ancient history, the archers collected the fired arrows from the other army to send back. Recycling. So maybe, the soldiers in the fort, if its possible, they should recollect the arrows in the field during the night. That goes for all kind of equipment. 3) That can make Scholl aware that there is a magical - blacksmith, and they may take action against it (subplot: attempt of kipnapping or assessination). The increase in quality in the weapons in the walls of the fort should no be dismissed/ignored by the commanders of Scoll's army. Specially if they have spies. 4) The General should send a bodyguard to Aaliyah, cas is a key supplier. Some other ideas: A) Soul awakening of weapons. Aaliyah is brought weapons to reppair. Her mood changes in the next days. Finally she discovers its from a weapon. And old sword, a heirloom passed from generation to generation of a warrior family. In the process of reppair, she 'talks'/feel the weapon and awake it. B) Mithril with magical stones. Combine the two materials to create a edge or coberture that acts like the stone in the ink pen, creating a mana edge that can cut throw no magical equippment. Not too much to no be too OP but enought to be a great weapon.

DominusIgnis

Was a great chapter. That first paragraph on the owners perspective though was a bit jarring. I dont know how to explain but when reading it, it just felt weird.

D

Liked the chapter. Shows a bit of the dealings in the world while aliyah sits relaxed in her village and pounds the metall. :)

tibbish

Apparently going by what Del said (ch13 I think) it takes around 140yr to get to lvl100 for most. Apperently xp scaling requirements look like a elevation map of the Matterhorn once you get over lvl70. On top of this xp from kills doesn't go up enough to compensate either. That is why the general can kill thousands of lvl30-40s and barely lvl up once.

Kiwilord

I like your depiction the company holder. People usually demonize or the hold such characters up on a pedestal. You make him feel like a goal oriented person who still has emotions

DaShoe

Chapter 17 "Father told me she tried joining the Healer branch of the kingdoms army. She was probably supposed to earn a ranking position and help her family gain military shipping contracts. Unfortunately for her, she had only the most basic of magic talent. She was told, she could only be placed in the Healer’s Reserve garrison.”" confirmed, the healer is his daughter. Thank you for the chapter

Icewolf

Great chapter :)

Matt S.

Yeah, it would be a good idea to have someone to give it a quick read to spot obvious errors before publishing. I don't think it would be hard to find someone willing in the same time zone to get a preview on the chapter even. :P

tibbish

Its not impossible but there is still in story commentary from Del IIRC that mentioned very few humans ever get to lvl100 or more. Also given that the trader in question basically runs a city its not impossible that he'd have access to some people who'd be able to compete with the kingdom's best. Money is power and all that.

Todd Kloos

There was some debate about Emily Pitz's level earlier with some people suggesting that she might only be in the 70s or 80s. Can we all agree that a legendary general regarded as the 6th strongest person in the kingdom is definitely going to be stronger than a bodyguard working for the kingdom's 4th biggest trading company? I'm thinking that Emily is probably above level 100.

RhyxMormarteno

Hmm been that 'dwarf' Master Del ? Looks she wont be happy nor Del when they find out what he got them into.

Vyktor

Really interesting chapter, many background information, love it! Moaaar 😆🤤

Håvard

I who'd say that with the body guard beeing level 88 the general have to be100+ I do not belive just a few more levels who'd take the guard into the top 10 in the kingdom. Or well it might he have been working for them for years so loyalty might be in the picture, but still.

Håvard

The contract was about hiding her magic and interest in enchanting. He did do that, and with Giovanni's knowledge about her master he knows she can't learn enchanting until she have left the village.

carebear90

Honestly... if telling someone about her to that degree does not nullify this stupid contract of his, I call bullshit. He basically disclosed everything but her name. Even an imbecile could find her with that information. It was a nice touch though to let him tell Kervin to "not lose us any clients" by to aggressive pricing. It's just a shame, that that was pretty much the only thing, that seemingly didn't set in. Couple questions: Giovanni's father was called Marshall, yes? And his bodyguard, that allready worked under his father is also called Marshall? Ah... and Kervin said one time he's heading to Marshall's office, when he was heading to see Giovanni.

Call0013

I think that Aaliyah mother may be one of the Spy's in the Village to keep a eye on her,(with magic you could even make someone a Unknowing spy, By implanting orders that they follow without consciously realizing it)

Ryman

Agree, to reach her current level of 62, Aaliyah nedded to accumulate 5.5 million Exp. Compare that with the level 88 guard that would need to accumulate nearly 35 million Exp. At the same time it dosn't seem like killing beast give that much experince given what we've seen Aaliyah getting from the spiders so far. So it seems a bit of a mystery where all of this Experience would come from, and it can't be skills since this is supposed to be Aaliyah's strong point....

Tera

Copy paste to corrections ;P

Clay smith

So I am wondering what type of spies we are talking about here. If they are the stay hidden from sight type they may struggle to stay hidden from Aaliyah because of her high mana sense ability. I mean she was able to find the spiders which have camouflage and she is already actively looking for stuff in the forests as well. If they are the blending in type of spies I also feel like that would be difficult cause it seems like this village doesn’t get a lot of new people (at least from the way the village has been portrayed to this point). The reason I bring this up is how will she react when she finds out spies are around, I’m assuming not well lol.

Call0013

I think the confusion comes from the Fact that Line was easy to miss and we already know that Aaliyah's mother was the daughter of a merchant Family.

ZCochraine!%

Well, if spies get in Aaliyah and Kel’s ways, they could be interrogated by Soul Sense, training it up at the same time. But gees are more things getting involved.

E C

You desperately need a proofreader who has at least mastered English at the 10th grade level.

Worldknower

To everyone who thinks Giovanni is Aaliyah's grandfather. Please remember that the village healer, is a former military healer, who failed due to lack of magic talent and "dropped" out in shame, and moved to a remote village. Sound familiar? "Giovanni Turrini has always been aggressively expanding the company ever since he took over and even sent his daughter to join the military's healing order to develop his contacts."

Christopher Ozouf

Couple mistakes I found. You spell the name of the town near the fort as Teeburn or Teeeburn in this chapter. I thought it was Treeburn since their symbol was a burning tree? "For all intensive purposes" should be 'For all intents and purposes'. "paralyzes" should be 'paralysis' in the context of that sentence.

Worldknower

It was stated that he "sent his daugther to join the army healers". Thats the backstory for the village healer (with the magic healing gloves).

Worldknower

His daugther is the village "healer". That she left the army because she had no talent for magic, and was ashamed, so she moved to a remoted village? I do think you are rigth about him caring a bit too much about money, but its not like he didnt care about his children at all. He was obviously upset that he wasnt told his daugther might be in danger, and he stated that she would be in even more danger from his rivals if he showed affection for her. So, i think he cares, just not enough to stop his ambitions.

John Curtis

I can imagine how pissed he will be that he can't even meet her once he finds out she is his grandkid, and lets not forget if kervin screws her over how that will end.

Worldknower

Interesting perspective. Its certainly possible, but i kinda hope its a coincidense. Too many connected threads can make a story feel "forced" instead of dynamic.

Robert Mullins

Sounds like you have people split on whether the village healer is his daughter or Aaliyah's mom. You should probably clarify that, unless the uncertainty is intentional.

Stephen Pearson

Woohoo! Thanks for the chapter:-)

Otter Pops

I don't think Giovanni cares about his family at all. Seems like he's willing to sacrifice everything for more money. He keeps his daughter at a distance. She lives a poor life while he lives in a guilded castle. She might be happy, but he doesn't even know about the times she had it tough because he's too busy making money to even read shorthand notes about her life.

Seth

Thanks for the chapter!

Emma Carlin

Oh shit, I can't wait until Gramps finds out how insanely talented Aaliah is.

Garend

Level bloat, severe level bloat.

Jacob

I like this chapter as well as the additional view points

Cobbly

I was just thinking about how excited I was for the new chapter when I saw the notification! Well... here's to... another week...

Call0013

Giovanni daughter is the Healer I gues that opens up the Idea that Aaliyah mother could be a Long term Spy sent there to keep an eye on Giovanni's daughter. After all wasn't Aaliyah mother the daughter of a pretty big and successful Merchant family. Why would two Daughters of Two big merchant families end up in the same little village in the middle of nowhere by coincidence.(Then again Aaliyah's mother could also be Giovanni's spy there to keep a eye on his Daughter) Edit:Yeah So the Healer Is the Daughter Still think its to much of a coincidence ended up in the same Village, Hope Aaliyah's mother ends up being a Spy, maybe even a unknowing one)

Celsica

Thank you for the early chapter! A few grammar points -"We haven't stopped for more than a few hours to let the beasts rest for four days" This reads like they let the beasts rest for four days. Maybe change to ''these past four days" -canvass -> canvas -"You're, Kervin?" -> take out the comma "exquisite pains of clear glass in them" -> panes - I'm not gonna lie though, I think the number of recent chapters made from an alternate point of view is just too high. This is becoming a crutch especially visible in your latest chapters. We don't need to see everyone's view of everything. We already saw the scene once. While anyway I understand this isnt supposed to be high literature, it was especially weird to add a point of view from Giovanni. You could have had Kervin discuss with his bodyguards about the situation if you wanted to expand on everyone's motivations. Anyway, this is your book! But if you've done any literary studies, I think what I'm saying isn't new to you!

Drew Kerstens

I love all the behind the scenes world building you are doing! I love our blacksmith but she has a very narrow view of her world and what goes on outside her work so the POV of others help paint the whole picture.

SpaceGoddess76

Is the office door enchanted? They way you said it had lines and then it lit up and opened made it sound like it was enchanted.

Seb

I like what you wrote! I'm honestly not too picky over writing and prefer quantity over quality (atleast when it comes to your story). I find that your writing is consistently good and the extra time taken to edit and revise your writing isn't worth as much as extra chapters, in my opinion. Thanks again for all your work and keep it up!!

Enif

Loved the chapter but I hope after this we can get back to Aaliyah and her progress.

The other DB

Great Chapter, thanks.

CyclopsSlayer

Reins not rains and Precident not president

Jesse

I think you played the the 'strict businessman who loves his family' well - they're safer if nobody thinks they're bargaining chips

Andrew

Thank you!

Nick

I hadn't thought about that angle, but I'm pretty sure they were talking about the Healer in the village. In earlier chapters it was explained that she was thrown out of the healing order and ended up in the village because of it.

Seadrake

Very well done, hope there isn't to much revenge from Giovanni in regards to the magical equipment failure.

Disclancer

I think it was the village healer, not Aaliyah's mum that they where talking about.

Bunny Waffles

Oooh. THE PLOT THICKENS! So does all this talk about a "disgraced" daughter of a merchant perhaps mean that Kervin's boss is actually our beloved Aaliyah's Grandpappy? How will this play with all the other factors that are rapidly accumulating, as well as the talk of how the local lord has a thing for magic beast hunters and training up new ones, does that mean that she might end up on their radar as well, either as a provider of weapons or someone they might want to recruit? So much potential, such a wait to see how it all plays out!

Satya Prateek

Well this explains how Aaliyah's mom got her merchant skills.

Scyfe

For all intensive purposes, ... maybe higher stronger guards." For all intents and purposes ... hire stronger guards

Matthew

I'm liking how the world is slowly opening up. Nothing too out of left field, but slowly learning about some of the larger players that are relevant to the story. Thanks for the chapter!
