heh

To date, still my all-time favorite chapter. So fucking good

Håkan Friberg

Loved it!

ShadeByTheSea

IDK, he's been basically alone since he was a kid(100 years maybe). Now he's helped raise this little monster and if she decides she doesn't need him than he'll be alone again. You also have to remember he's been teaching her for 2-3 years already.

ShadeByTheSea

Yeah, so much better than a hour by hour description of everything that happens every day. Also no every day is a major event, because a blacksmith has a lot of repetition. You'll learn a lot on your first few swords, than it'll just be small gradual increases from then on. So showing her develop her spears than just mentioning how many she made in time skips is a smart approach.

ShadeByTheSea

Maybe, but I don't think her future love, or her future, is in the village.

Tera

I'd like to add, that Del's PoV was a bit too extreme feeling towards Aaliyah, in My opinion

Rallaster

I enjoyed Del's POV, it really helped illustrate Aaliyah's advancement as a craftsperson, and it was really well done. As long as the time cuts are clean and properly explained, I don't have an issue with them. I know some authors who use them to great effect, and others that can't make a clean jump to save their careers. It's really going to be down to how well you can manage the story between the jumps.

Enif

I'm curious if she is going to find a way to use [soul sense] with her crafting. Maybe she'll figure out how to inscribe real skills into the weapons/tools she makes.

Callum Legg

I thought Del's POV was pretty good, Aaliyah is kinda airheaded though. My guess for the soul difference would be related to either the amount of real life experience or knowledge someone has or something innate. Probably why Aaliyah levels up so quickly, her soul may be bigger than the average.

lenkite

That [Lady] general is gonna remove him as the [Middleman] at any rate. And his [Trading Company] won't be pleased either.

Stephen Pearson

Huh. Try #3: I've seen a lot of comments where people claim that Kervin is a good guy, who doesn't really take undue advantage as well as those who think very poorly of his actions, so here it is all laid out, the math of how much Kervin is taking advantage of Aliyah, based on his own belief in the value of her work (that is, ignoring how much more they're really worth / he got taken for): Ch. 39: “What about your spears? The normal 25 bronze enough for you?” She talks him up to 1.5 silver There are 100 silver per gold, from math in Ch.41 (I hadn't previously remembered if it was 10 or 100, so checked) Ch. 41: "I have 26 spears and three chameleon spider’s worth of materials." She talks him *up* to 3.1 gold, and most of that is ostensibly for the spider materials, the spears are not individually negotiated again. Ch. 42: The thirty spears I've bought from Aaliyah over the last two months and a few other pieces from her earlier work are my finest pieces. The rest are works I've picked up for cheap coin during my trade route. Overall, I've spent nearly five gold coins of my own money on everything. I should be able to quadruple my money by just selling Aaliyah's weapons alone. So that's 20 gold he expects just for Aliyah's work. Iirc so there are a couple other items of hers in there also, but his entire cart cost 5 gold, and it definitely wasn't paid to her, considering it would take 333 spears at her current price of 1.5 silver each, recently increased from 25 bronze (of which only 30 of the spears were sold at that price - 4 after she levelled blacksmithing, and 26 when she made the contract with him). So in effect, 30 spears cost him 45 silver and he expected them to sell for 20 gold; so he's giving her 2.25% of his expected value. So while he got only about 4/7 - or 57% - of the proper value, that is a far better deal for him than the one he has given to Aliyah; 25 times better, in fact. Just because he's personable and friendly doesn't mean he's a good guy.

The-Anti-Akuma

I don't understand why she didn't expect that.... It's like LITERALLY the same thing that happened to her every time she looked at her own soul.

Enif

She's just over 18 by our calendar since the years are 15 months long and she's 15. I personally don't think the story needs to explore romance or at least not yet. I think it would distract from her crafting and progression. As to hormones she might be dealing with that differently since having the experience of a past life would probably help her keep a handle on it.

Steven Palmer

Love this. I get excited for each release!!

Erriballon

I have one compliant . I need another chapter

Clay smith

So I like the concept of time skips in the story right now. I feel like the village and the people that matter are all well fleshed out already. I feel like the story is doing really well right and short time skips lets you hit on major moments and character building, much like this chapter. If you were to focus on every spider attack and every crafting process it would kinda become boring. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next chapter

Knightfire

I don't really care if a relationship is written or not but I think the biggest possibility so far is Brandon. He already seems to like her.

Michael Hart

Absolutely love this story! Just one comment. Aaliyah's a teenager and hormones should be flowing, does she ever get a love interest in this story? I know the author said he's not going to write sex scenes but she could still have a relationship right? At this point we don't even know her sexual orientation. I only see one sort of weak male candidate in Ronald and one really strong female possibility in Emily. Sure there's an age difference but they seem really similar and with Aaliyah having memories of being male....well one can hope anyway. Just throwing it out there.

Alteron

Or maybe some other things happens, maybe he is blessed by his God, and is full of divine energy, ready to be a holy fighter. We don't know. 🙂

Endoria

I would prefer chapters from the MC point of view and some progress in the story. Teasing actual story progress and then going back to basic crafting stuff and slice of life things is boring as hell. And on top of that I really do not care about the grumpy dwarf smith and his feelings. I can already see the plot twist coming from 500 pages away. The MC finds out the dwarf was cursed with her soul skill and after fixing shit the dwarf can now use magic and be a super smith. Boring.

Giperman

Wait, what about grand parents?

Alteron

So how many people are coming this spring? The general, the Trading house, the soldiers promised, the grand parents in response to the letter, her brother......

KalAeon

So cool! I think you hit just the right amount of cheese. Only problem I have with the chapter is that there's not enough of it. But I'd still be saying that if it was 100k words, I'm greedy like that.

Wredniak2003

Just a quick comment. I liked the content. The execution of the POV not so much. He is a exiled jaded old dwarf. He should not sound as an excited young human girl. In your world does his race is similar to standard dwarves if so use it. If not figure out what makes them dwarves and use it instead. Examples: I could have bet my beard it would take her only a day... Ancestors, she is a monster. Etc. instead of just general feeling of being observed use his background. For example he might have felt he was back in the tunnels and being watched by thousand red eyes or the feeling like the tunnels are about to collapse on him. Little details that add flavor and distinction would in my opinion made huge difference.

tibbish

I dunno, it sounds like he was barely able to tolerate her using the skill on him and would've ran away if she'd looked at him with it for a second longer. I think if he'd been able to tough it out, even if it caused him to pass out or fall over in a seizure like it did with Aaliyah, then yeah he probably should've gotten it IMO. I think its Aaliyah's instance of pushing her skills to the limit and that past that while tolerating the pain or debilitating effects that is letting her level those skills at a fairly high rate. Going by Del's comments in this chapter that sort of thing is quuiiitteee unusual to see and even he doesn't seem to be the sort to try it.

Lesley Douglas

Thanks for the chapter, I most say I have enjoyed the last two chapters. Master D was so sad, and I am glad we are getting to learn about him. He has a lot to offer our MC, in terms of Blacksmithing and knowledge of the world. The world wanted him to meet MC so it arranged him so. Him ending up there of all places and leaving home and traveling the kingdoms means something. I do think most of MC skills will eventually require her to use them on others to expand like her mana skin, figuring out how to cover others will become a thing. I am not sure how MC will help him, but I am hoping it is helping him to find his joy in blacksmithing and learning how to expand in that even if she can't turn on his magic. He spends so much time regretting what he thinks he is lacking, that he has never giving his all in his blacksmithing never pushing the boundaries and maybe creating something new. MC is a catalyst to others, and being touched by her will enhance ppl. She is already forming a core people around her it will be fun to see how far they can go with her. The spiders seem to have sense and realize going toward MC home is dwindling their numbers so better go another way. I hope MC spends time chasing and hunting them down as the arrows she can make with them could be a state secret. She has done all the work, I wonder if ppl can patent ideas and inventions in this world? MC better get back to the sword and her combat/offensive skills time are changing and her peaceful like in the village is coming short so more fighting, maybe other villages will request help or most likely come running to their village for shelter. So many ways this story could go. Very interesting.

Lesley Douglas

I agree, Kervin will make more money & improve his skills if he continues his effort to makes MC his friend first, then business partner. She will stand with him just like her Master, so he should sit her down and tell her everything that happened, and who the General is and her power in the kingdom. I hope if someone from the company comes with him, MC makes it clear she has a contract with Kervin & only him. Imagine at Kervin level it was a pain to gather the strands of the contract from around her soul, imagine a higher level person, who is more greedy and less honest than a Kervin.

Håvard

Depending on how it works copying their skill is more realistic as an first step. A bit like mana first you notice it then you expel it then you inject it and first then can you extract it. Her she first noticed her soul, now she can see others. The next step in my mind is to read status pages. Afther that is reading skills. Readung others skills who'd help her lean skills as she get to know what akills exsist and might get ideas for seeing them. First when she have lewrned to copy skills to herself might be an new tier 5 skill. She will learn to help others form skills. All this assuming its even possible. She probably need an skill to manipulate the expiriance around the soul to make it form the skill.

Stephen Pearson

Forgot to mention; I think I saw it mentioned by someone else in the comments earlier, but I really hope that this is a catalyst for Del to find some skill or endeavor to be passionate about and actively work towards. For that matter, now that he's confessed where he is, he can stop pretending to sleep and actively try to figure things out with her, which can only be beneficial to him as well. Would be cool if she helped him learn more skills too, now that she noticed he didn't have that many, and it may be time to learn that presence aura and danger sense... to level up his teaching skill, of course! :-p

Giperman

Del should get Mental Resistance after this

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter, I really enjoyed it:-) One thing that I really hope comes out of this is how much she insists on being paid - there's no way for Kervin to indicate that her work is worth a few silver each when he's willing to spend gold just to get her a message 2 weeks more quickly. The likely addition of a higher-up merchant overseeing the next trip will be another big clue. So hopefully she'll sit him down and get answers next time she sees him, maybe leverage her mom's truth ability. Who knows, maybe he'll grow as a person and be forthright with her, even though it means he'll have to pay her closer to a fair amount for her work. If not, I don't see how she would be willing to maintain their relationship once she finds out how badly he's tried to take advantage of her. Though maybe that's an intentional point of conflict? On another note, one thing Del can still teach her is better armor, based on your descriptions of his armor when she saw it for the goblin fight. After enough arrows have been provided, the general could send 2 of her better fighters to get fitted for armor (Kervin would recognize that he hadn't paid enough for the carrier falcon, anyway), and they could help defend against the spiders and spar with Aliyah while they're there. Failing that, it seems like she really should make some armor for her dad. Thanks again!

carebear90

I'm looking forward to her next conversation with Kervin. If he knows what is good for him, he'll tell her the truth. I wouldn't be terribly surprised however, if he does not show up alone after he was forced to tell his company about her...

RhyxMormarteno

Thanks for chapter Looking forward to next ones

the ManGun

Loved the chapter it showed how a real person will react when their best student is over taking them, Del feeling that he may soon become obsolete is good character development right there.

Icewolf

Idk if it has been mentioned before, but I spotted 3 big errors. One being week where I think you meant to write weak. Saw two similar mistakes as I read the chapter.

Ikawaii

I think I improved the ratio a little bit better -> little bit/little bit more

Ikawaii

higher one -> hire one

Miritar

Loved the chapter. Can't wait for more!

Seth

Liked the chapter, showed a bit more depth to the relationship between Aliyah and Del.

matticide FOWD

Was just thinking something similar. It'd be mad if she could give him magic to repay him for all the tutelage

Osprey36

I liked the chapter, and I don't think it was too cheesy or anything like that. We all knew that Del cared for Aaliyah, and this just cemented that. Personally I think Aaliyah is going to try and jumpstart Del's mana somehow, something to do with him having a smaller core soul maybe. Of course, that means she'll need a new skill, since she can only observe Souls right now

Jonathan

Good chapter, wasn't too cheesy. To add depth could have Del notice and point out a minor mistake on her part that is something he's just higher skilled or more experienced with. Feeds into his line of thought and it can be pretty minor to show that she's just refining her craft now. Would also recommend showing her F'ing up with new skills a bit to ground her progress. First couple enchantments might be a great time considering their difficulty.

Worldknower

I liked this chapter. It answered questions from the previous chapter, and it give insight into what Del is thinking about his situation. Maybe could have added a short line about the "next" events, but i guess that would have been a cliffhanger, so might have been for the best the way it ended.

ZCochraine!%

Perfectly fine levels of cheese. Just a few mor attempts on monsters and volunteers and shel be able to read the full page without anyone noticing. Then, like in if the other comments, its working to see if she can copy her skills, and give the full set of magic ones to Del for everything he taught her. Then it’t seeing if tools can retain skills, maybe even level up.

Hunendora

Im kinda happy she's not in any kind of sexual, burgeoning or not, relationship. Happy with her familial and Mentor relationships and married to her work. I hope it keeps up.

Jackson Ragland

Favorite chapter in a while

darrel morris

it should be common knowledge for all isekai stories that the three magics you do not mess with is time, soul and harem. Especially harem... I cant picture the MC in an orgy...

Milandaanza

Actually I think it was just cheesy enough. We see the fact that Aaliyahs growth is more abnormal then we expected and that Del is now at the point he’s in over his head. He’s more a general teacher at this point. ....We also see how attached Aaliyah is to her home and her family and friends. Many might plan to move on or ‘graduate’ but Aaliyah firmly finds another reason to keep things as is. It’s a good reminder that Aaliyah is happy with her situation just has a massive drive to grow.

darrel morris

by the track record, probably sometime late this week

darrel morris

IKR, this is why I liked empyrian blacksmith. Not going to read that nightmare of wuxia again, but it was a good first time read.

Thaco4

Del is a good companion to offer experience and prevent the worst of Ali's mistakes. I think he would be a good character to bring along when she does leave the village.

mmarkgraf212

I enjoy the occasional different perspectives. Also a couple of errors. It costs a lot of coin to (higher) -hire- one much it was to (higher) -hire- one

Robert Mullins

I disagree. I liked his viewpoint and thought it was done well. It's seems to me that the one-dimensionalness you are seeing is just a result of a single problem being the focus of his thoughts at the time of the pov. Which makes sense. The guy is trying to simultaneously handle the pride of raising a prodigy and the shame of his lifetime of experience and training being surpassed and becoming "useless" (in his opinion) so quickly. It's completely fair for that to fuck someone up in the head for a while and take over their thoughts.

Bbyh

I think a lot of what was loved about the last chapter's POVs was missing here. Del felt pretty one dimensional. I felt it was still good, but definitely had room to improve.

I think Del should be killed in a spider attack so that the story can progress better, he doesn't contribute much anymore but he's keeping Aliya in the village. If they just split up, Del will go back to being a grumpy old depressed and addicted to alcohol.

Tera

A bit cheesy, but as long as it's not every chapter it's perfect 😍

Robert Mullins

Kosnik4 out here just casually dropping chapters for the best crafting story published or otherwise then asking if his timeskips are working. Not even sure how I'm supposed to react anymore.

Andrew

Thank you! I liked it the way it is. A little cheesy but it wasn't too much

Mike G.

Good stuff, thanks!! Seeing the crafting progress, and the altering relationship between the 2 of them is very nice. Sense soul turning into Identify or something like it is also intriguing.

Robert Mullins

That seems like the kind of thing that would require a soul manipulation skill rather than soil sensing. And a high level one at that.

Ungrave

Like a fine pizza with the cheese well spread to accent the other flavors.

Seadrake

Perfect, not too cheesy.

Cobbly

Always a treat. When is 46?

Cobbly

It's hire not higher.

David Zimmerle

This story is like a drug lately. It's so damned hard to find a good craftsman litrpg that doesn't immediately devolve into a combat/save the world type after they make their first item(only to never craft again).

Obran

I really hope that Aaliyah can fix Del’s magic with her Soul Sensing skill before she leaves as a thank you.

Dikfor

TY! I was just whining to myself about having nothing to read. Wonderful timing.

BookDragonling

I liked seeing her master's perspective. although I definitely feel like Aaliyah will have to leave the village soon. whether from trying to avoid the annoying commander lady or just to get more knowledge about smithing, enchanting, magic
