The quality is fine, always strive to do better but don't beat yourself up over it either!

SabreToothTortseshell

"I try to avoid the remining looks..." did you mean remaining?

Cobbly

I use Double Step to out run the crowd and make my way home. I need pick up my money.

fbt

ty for the chapter!

Niraada

Clearing trees within 10 feet (is this distance correct?) of the village? Wouldn't they be better off cutting something like a firebreak a few kilometres out? If they made a decently wide gap in the trees, particularly when dealing with ambush predators, it's unlikely the spiders would choose to expose themselves to cross it. Then, so long as they notch the trees on the side near the village, any spiders crossing the firebreak would be easily isolated (and spotted).

Seb

And that somone powerful enough will notice her...

Miriduriel

As it has not been mentioned yet at least that i was able to see, the one think that bugged the hell out of me was how the MC was exited to go home and distribute her stats, just why? if you are going to throw away all your progress why do you train in the first place? only stat she could but anything on is Vitality and she has absolutely no reason to up it any more than it already is, frankly it is unbalancedly high to the extent that the 3rd rate healer she has access to in this village most likely can't even heal her anymore if she gets injured again.

Nick

I wholeheartedly agree. These guards need to be rewritten so that they behave more normally. I'd imagine that veteran guards would have experienced dealing with high level clients before. I can imagine them being wary but respectful of Aliyah. E.g. They know her, and her friendly relationship with Kevin and as such classify her as a lower risk but at the same time they can detect her strength and so keep discreetly at the ready in case they've read the situation wrong. There's no way they'd be that quick to draw their swords. Doing so indicates lethal intent and anyone and everyone would instantly know it means bad shits about to happen. It couldn't be dismissed or ignored easily even by a country peasant who may not know some social graces. Drawing a sword is the equivalent of drawing your gun, flicking off the safety and putting your finger on the trigger. No way that a veteran guard would do that unless there was a clear and present danger to the merchant they're guarding. If they did do that even Aaliyah would know that a line had been crossed and she needs to de-escalate the situation.

Stephen Pearson

I've been meaning to mention this - I really liked this chapter overall, but there are 2 things that bug me. The reaction of the guards to Aaliyah, and her confusion about that reaction. I get that you're showing them worrying about how strong she is - I even like that as a concept, it's very satisfying. But the degree and method they do it crosses the border into caricature. Strong people are a thing in your world, and drawing your sword is an act of naked aggression that indicates a desire to initiate hostilities; if the guards do that for powerful people just for approaching, the merchant should have fired them immediately. If anything they would have a tendancy to be quietly respectful instead of acting like she's a wild beast let loose. On top of which, they've literally known her for years. There is 0 reason to assume she is going to attack them, murder them, and steal their stuff - by contrast she is a valued partner. So I like the general idea, but it should be toned down. Instead of pulling a sword at her approach like a startled Barney Fife, have her notice them tense up as if they're trying not to flinch. Instead of having them hold their hilts, have her notice how much more focused and attentive on her they're being. The only time it just barely might make sense to actually draw a sword was when she grabbed Kervin. Even then, her seeing that one had partially drawn and been stopped by the other would probably work a lot better. Which brings me to the 2nd thing that I found jarring - her lack of awareness. You have her as a truly good person who thinks well of others, and I really like those characteristics and how you portray them. That said, she's lived 2 lives on 2 worlds, her obliviousness to why they would be wary around her now is beyond strange. Especially as she's been dealing with the fallout of people treating her differently since the goblin raid. I could see her feeling a bit sad about it, maybe trying to lighten the mood or act normally, but constantly surprised that they're treating her cautiously? Out-of-character oblivous. Love your story, and generally speaking even really like this chapter, just wanted to share the parts that stood out as not quite right to me. Thanks, and hope you're enjoying your vacation!

Alteron

As a child of our world, a katana is seen as badass, and as one of the most difficult things to make. I can understand why she would make and use one

ZCochraine!%

She wanted to pass her blacksmithing skill test, a katana is very difficult and high skill to make, a perfect test. She also use magical materials for the first time (I think) and so that got her the Magic smith skill from doing that. And since shes an XP junky, learning another weapons skill is like why not, you have a flaming katana, thats just badass.

J H

I'm enjoying the story, and it looks like Aaliyah's Mental Resistance has a lot more uses than I thought. The one thing I just can't get over and don't understand is why she made a katana with her special ore. It makes no sense to suddenly switch to a new weapon that she has no experience using. A sword requires a lot of skill, more than a hammer or axe, and she already has those skill at a high level. A hammer is an incredible weapon, and an axe is a great one too when you need a blade instead of blunt force damage. If she really needed a brand new weapon and skill, it should be a spear. Requires less skill, has less overlap with axe and hammer fighting so she wouldn't confuse the footwork as much, and is better against monsters which is what Aaliyah will want to fight, rather than people.

MadGod

They're waiting for the spiders to join the barbeque party.

Håvard

They are in the order she got them in.

Nick

Any chance you can alphabetise the increased skill levels? The skills are all in random order and aren't sorted by name, rank or level increase.

Alteron

I Know it was a couple of chapters ago, but what happened with the big grill? There was a buildup, but then it disappeared. I was actually intrigued by it.

Brell

The guard noticing Aaliyah's inability to restrain her mana has the terrifying implication that some Wind Spiders may be able to hide theirs.

MadGod

Every teenager thinks of meating their parents at least once in their life.

Wredniak2003

Kervin POV was not bad content wise. I don’t believe it was distinct enough. If you have time I would recommend watching this video: https://youtu.be/eRGfs7iOUDE

Markus

You used meat instead of meet twice

Richard Davis ll

Sward Arts (LV3) x2 in this chapter lol should be Sword Arts I believe. Love the chapter btw the POV was very good but could be better with more personality add somehow.

Steven Palmer

Love your work. Enjoy your vacation!! Well deserved.

Anders Kirkegaard

Have a nice trip, and i like where the story is going

ZCochraine!%

I think thats why he was nervous when she came, her mother already gave him a talking too.

ZCochraine!%

Seems she might have two sources of usfull skills:one to detect mana and mana pool without Sense Mana; and the other to estimate levels

Andrew

Thank you!

CyclopsSlayer

Thanks for the chapter! Much better. A couple of confused homophones. strait > straight is the only one I remember, :)

MadGod

Bullshit, if this was still off to you then you just can't stand POV switching in general

Jonathan Seah

I like the POV change. Half the fun is the world around the characters and how the people react to the MC. Which you only get a limited amount of when reading from the MC's POV only.

Darastrix

I keep mixing some of the characters names up, some of them are so similar with each other. Don't get me wrong it makes sense, but there's a reason authors tend to pick out unique names for characters, all I'm asking is it possible to have like a google spread sheet with a short summary of who each character is? Like just this chapter I thought Kervin was her brother until she met up with him.

D

liked the pov change, it gave some insides of their thinking in a more natural way. have fun on your trip. :)

Tristan Medina

Could you clean up the stats bit? The end of it's gotten a bit confusing as to what's tier 5 and what's increased in level.

Deinos

POV still felt off

carebear90

I agree. Ten feet seems rather short. I'd honestly expect there wouldn't be many trees in that area to begin with. I don't expect them to hve a palisade or anything. But at least to have cleared out most of the trees several hundred feet around the village over the years. Do they no farming at all? Livestock? Even if they don't, I'd expect trees around the village to be cleared out of general safety concerns, if they have things like goblins and these "bearwolfs" (I forgot the name) roaming around.

FillerArc

Yes, always recommend taking a break every other month.

SpaceGoddess76

I really liked the POV change it was nice seeing her from a non-family member point of view also learning what the guards saw/thought to was great!

carebear90

Didn't her mother want to come with her for these negotiations? Or was that edited out? I think, the POV shift was fine. It basically was an extention of the same scene. It felt pretty natural.

tibbish

I can't wait for Spoopy Arts to be a thing in story!!

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter, and enjoy your break!

Sean Miltenberger

Thanks for the chapter! If you are open to suggestions I think it would be helpful to somehow bring attention to a new skill in the list of skill increases. Something like an asterisk next to it or maybe have it highlighted or even a list of newly gained skills if there are more than one. I think for every new skill so far you have mentioned it in writing which is great but for some reason I always have the gut reaction to then look for it in the closest stat page. Not sure if anyone else would be interested in this but that's my two cents :).

That One Guy

I honestly didn't notice any drop in quality. I am still loving the story, take your time writing but please don't stop. <3

Miritar

Thanks for the chapter. I dont know what you mean by your last 2 werent good... I have really enjoyed all of your chapters.

Nick

Thanks for the chapter

Adrien Busnel

Thanks for the chapter ! Sward Arts -> Sword Arts

Disclancer

Just want to say I'm loving the story bud! It has quickly become my favourite web serial. Don't take the comments to much to heart, every author has need of an editorial process, and it's part of the fun of patreon that we get to help out and be part of that. Keep your spirits up!

Caleb Bear

Maybe have the villagers cut down every tree within several yards of the village, since ten feet seems like a rather short distance when dealing with monsters, and notch every tree within several miles as a way to keep the villagers busy and focused on a way to help the situation instead of constantly worrying while also providing a measure of protection to the hunters that go out hunting

Wilhelm Petersson

Great chapter and cant wait for more!

They spot us -> They spotted us the mas of people -> the mass of people
