dat guy

is the sense of "Second, Victoria wasn’t used to getting her way, as her family spoiled her, " exactly backwards from the backstory? Victoria _was_ used to getting her way. I suggest "Second, Victoria wasn’t used to _not_ getting her way, as her family spoiled her, "

Max Lopo

It was kinda clear that Tory was a victim, since we have seen how her "childhood friends" were a bunch of slimy c**** that lied about everything. But this forey in the "alternate history" just proves that "the protagonist" needs to go away. It doesn't matter if she is the DUMBEST puppet on the planet or part of a conspiracy. Her existence is s landmine.

Wesley Stone

I always like the idea that all stories, doesn't matter if it books, movies, games, etc... are just the creators tapping into things happening in other worlds and dimensions. So the game creator built the games based on a possible future that would happen if something wasn't done to stop it. That being the destruction of a march and the empire tossed into chaos. OG Tori was always suppose to be the hero we can see now, but was to young and inexperienced to figure out how to stop it. So some 'GOD' or something arranged accidents at the same time to transmigrated Tori in.

DonMc

Is this chapter even part of the story? After all, its not tagged as either 'TT Chapter' or 'Tori Transmigrated'. Its why I didn't even find it until today.

Lou Gar

Right. The 'push' by 'something' has been pretty well established. However, the game-world is not as portrayed in the game. The characters have hidden sides and things that never came out in the game. Example: Baron Hart's romance. Gideon actually having such strong and good feelings for his brother. Axton's background. And, that is not even including the WAY the known characters are portrayed. The chapter had them completely different than in the game. It 'look's like the designers did not create the world (as it could not contain as much data). It 'looks' the game was inspired by the world, and there is/was more to it than any game could show. And, now, the game itself is trying to influence the world? And, now, someone is fighting off the game? Or, is it something else? Food for thought, for us and Tori.

Saaski

I feel that so far, the fact that this is a game world has been stated quite bluntly by the narrative. Things happening such as the assignment of Tori’s project. When she protested, the principle himself seemed utterly confused, even as he insisted that it couldn’t be changed. Despite the fact that the rules of the school state that the students should be able to reject an assignment if they feel un-up to the task. It’s frowned upon, but fully within the rules if I’m remembering correctly. Other examples are; people close to Alessa being utterly incapable of seeing her as anything less then saintly. Then, the fact that unless Tori directly intervenes, crap just falls in line to favour Alessa. ie. She got grounded, somehow became a Baroness instead of being stuck at home. Etc. So now all we have to do is to decide whether or not we think that this set up is a red herring. The fact that Tori is seeing these “visions” implies either parallel dimensions, or maybe the Gods are showing her what-would-have-been. Right now we have no way of knowing for sure.

Lou Gar

I wanted to focus on the things that Tori would have to worry about. Who, within the story is influencing her? You said, "She was transmigrated to the starting point of a game world that already existed." And, "the game world exists in every state of past, present and future." So, others are occurring, or could be at any state. And, she could conceivably hit any point of the events - past, present, and future. And yet.. and yet - she hit the spot that matched her current time? A spot that showed her something significant or that motivated her? (Considering the emotional response to the story by the readers, Tori should react as strongly as well, right?) Doesn't this all imply a guided vision? So, who is guiding her? The Emperor had a 'crystal' vision that said it was 'imperative' that she b e the Countess of the Delta, for some reason. So, part of a greater whole, right? As I have said before, the reason for Who, How, and Why are - The Author, Author Fiat, and Author's Need for the Plot? But, from Tori's perspective, what is going on?

Thorlol

Do your newspaper anounce a trigger warning when they report about a rape that happend in some part of your country with the information only being about when and where? How is a in-depth backstory to the original Victoria redundant in a slice-of-life web-novel? How could this chapter be offensive without any personal opionion or view being expressed? Factual happenings cant be offensive as far as I know. How could a chapter be disruptive if it was about what Tori experienced while she was unconcious? As for pathetic, what exactly was pathetic here? The grammar? Sentence structure? You also assume that the chapter only exists to 'retcon' conflict into relationships. Did you already read the next chapter before us? Right now we were only informed what happend in the original timeline. We dont know if anything comes from her 'vision'. Next time please think about what you are commenting before calling someones work 'repulsive garbage'.

Thorlol

Not a previous version. She was transmigrated to the starting point of a game world that already existed . And the game world exists in every state of past, present and future. Otherwise she wouldnt know how the game starts and ends. I think she created a alternative reality just by the fact that she transmigrated. Doesnt mean that other alternative realities dont exist. Like the original game timeline she read about in the wiki article. How she was able to see the orginal reality? My guess is magical stuff happening because of crystal fatigue and being unconcious. I dont think that the vision she had offered her any insight other than a more in-depth understanding of the orginal Victoria and what happend to her until that point in time. Before she had only surface knowledge of Victoria through the wiki article.

Lou Gar

Thorlol, "How" can she see something like that? You said she saw a previous version of what happened? So, you think it IS a game, running and storing old version of the incident or story? Again, how is she seeing that saved file? Is she a 'glitch?' Aside from being a high-noble, expert with swords & daggers, genius crystal-mage, amazing cook, amazing project manager, Autism Whisperer, she can also look into the game matrix? Like Neo? Or, is that the 'gods' are AI's that are bending the rules to give her an insight? We have seen that the characters have blessings, and the blessings can be detected by other (in her case, a priest). So, the 'gods' exist in some form, and could be influencing Tori. Either of those things have serious implications.

.m

This chapter is repulsive garbage. I hope Aila Aurie deletes it. It invokes rape and other deeply triggering abuse, with no trigger warning, just to retcon some conflict into the relationships. When a building literally just collapsed on children giving a very good pretext already for Tori to be furious. This is redundant, offensive, disruptive, and bathetic.

Keith

Agree

Simon Kellis

My head canon in TLDR format… Team Hart reincarnated on Earth and turned their story into a game with them as the heros. Tori die in the train crash and due to space time/time dilation/quantum physics shenanigans she reincarnated right before the “game” starts with the horse accident causing Victoria to remember her life as Tori. In addition to her Arommantic state she is also suffering dismorphia and dissociation. She now is conducting the equivalent of a time heist to save her family and the empire. Post Script: My head canon is pages long…

Thorlol

Its pretty simple. We did see a portion of the original reality. It offered us a deeper look into the original Victoria and why she acted the way she did in the game. Why was it possible to see the original reality? Because it already happend, with a few sequels. She just saw a portion of it, probably about the same point in time. So thats whats going on, it doesnt need to have more meaning that what was presented.

Lou Gar

I am confused by this chapter. We already know that Victoria was not accurately portrayed in the game. Showing how much 'more' she was mis-portrayed... I am not sure what was the point. Yes, it does look like a motivation for her to dig deeper into Alissa. But, does that imply a "higher power" pushing her? Which really just leads to the most important question. HOW did Tori get this vision? Tori has no way to access these memories even as one of transmigrated ("Her" Victoria never had them, so they can't be 'recovered memories') - unless, they are implying she has world/game hopping mind powers. Really, where did they come from? If it is the game-world, it could be that there are other ‘instances’ of the game, showing her what ‘should’ have happened at this time in the game-world. And, this could be the reason why Tori keeps getting tossed into drama with Alissa – trying to recreate the alternative instances? (Her allies being suddenly ‘occupied’ and not able to be with her was sure sign of ‘drama & b.s.,’ and I am really surprised Tori didn’t see it coming too.) Again, this implies a higher power messing with her. But, if it is the case, why was the vision so different from the game-world that was shown in the game when played? Why so much more sympathetic? What is the logic of the game trying to correct things back to the game-story, and also show Tori the sad life Victoria (and Ilyana)? That is a poor way to get her to follow along, and have them both be victimized. This vision ‘looks’ like an alternative world, and not even the one portrayed by the game. Is it NOT a game-world? Is it an alternative world ‘bleeding through?’ Is that what Tori is seeing? If it is, what does that mean? So, again, I don’t know what is going on.

Man, reading this one just before bed was a bit of a doozy. As soon as those clowns started talking my blood instantly boiled. I'm writing this the next day, and I'm still getting angry just thinking about it. I used to think Von Dorn was the worst, but now I can easily say that Dimitry Guthry is a waste of air and skin. Like, Von Dorn's a bit of a turd, but whatever. Guthry tho? Eff that guy. He can take a long walk off a short dock for all I care.

Nobody

The orphanage collapse does finally give Tori genuine ammo to openly go after Heart, something that she hasn't had yet.

Oxylus

@Noelle, I felt this way for hours 😭. Just want to send Ilyana a bunch of 🫶

Kevin Caffrey

I liked the chapter. It can be frustrating to have an extended cliff but I can see how this chapter might be necessary to the story, and would work great if I didn’t need to wait a few days for the next chapter. The only thing I’ll be upset about is if this isn’t a tipping point that causes Tori to go on the offensive instead of defensive against Alessa. I THINK that’s the purpose of this chapter but if something like that does not happen then it’ll be a missed opportunity.

Scyfe

I liked the chapter quite a bit but agree it breaks the flow in the webnovel format and is a bit annoying due to pushing the cliff, while it would read fine in the future when you can go through the entire arc this story is not being published in that fashion. Probably would've recommended a bigger break between chapters and a double release or longer chapter that contains a bit when she woke up for this sort of thing

Lazy Lemon

Amazing chapter, thank you Aila for this one, I really loved it

Nimps

Hahaha I was going to write exactly this too! Omg I want only the worst for Alessa I really hope she is stripped of everything. I swear she has some sort of dark compulsion power. The hints from the headaches some of them got when they questioned her briefly

Lou Gar

I wonder if her mother was an 'orphan of unprovable province' like Cow-Man, and Nicole (I think that was her name), etc.

noëlle

The RAGE I felt reading this chapter is hard to express. Ughhhh, the way the scene went did such a good job of making me furious and heartbroken. Thank you for the wonderful yet gut wrenching chapter.

Summercat

Oof. I liked this chapter

Saaski

Yeah. If I was looking forward to the fallout before, now I am anticipating Retribution!

Saaski

Interesting.

Saaski

Please

Saaski

Way to turn on the water works… today I am the random lady crying on the bus. Don’t mind me folks, nothings wrong IRL, one of my favourite authors just decided that today was the day to knock happiness out of the field. .. Sniff… Meany. You hurt Ilyana.

Oxylus

The real hero of the tale.

Simon Kellis

I do not understand the hate some readers are having against this chapter, it is a wake up of sorts. A scene that allows Tori, who till now has been a seemingly stagnant character, to grow. Instead of “survive till Universeté ends” it is now “who is Alyessa Hart?” and how do I bring this operation down. It gives Tori a goal, not that surviving “Team Hart” is not a valid and important goal; it is simply nebulous and open ended. I am hopeful that this turning point will be a call to action and allow “Team Tori” or Tori at least,(Ilyanna, never change) to become more dynamic or grow. Cry havoc, loose the dogs of war!

Gemyma

Sometimes the chapters a story needs as a whole don't work so well as a serial release. That's the price we pay for this format and I'd rather have the occasional weaker, cliffy release than have the story skip giving context and developments like we got today. While we didn't get the aftermath I was hoping for today, I'm eager to see how this affects our Tori going forward as it seems like it's going to be a catalyst for some upheaval. Thanks for the chapter, Aila, your hard work is always appreciated.

CentaureHeart

Uh did not expect that kind of chapter! Well I hope the insight it provides will make her retribution all the better. Thanks for the chapter :)

Hecktony

I kind of dig the mini-isekai in an isekai, I'm a sucker for villains getting back at goofy MCs even if it's no the "real" timeline. Super obnoxious place for this chapter to appear though.

Miguel Wolmers

I think the chapter is good, if it creates a shift in Tori’s way of handling alessa moving forward. But tbh I think it would of been better short or as a double release chapter to not break immersion. Ending on a cliff to go to this and still progress past the cliff for another 2 days… yeah that’s hella frustrating.

Props to Piers for being a good guy in all the versions of this world.

Same. I almost didn't read the chapter when I realized what it was. The timing of this chapter was a bucket of ice water that shattered my immersion into the story. After the previous chapter I was wrapped up in the story and its characters. Wondering how Alessa would try to shift blame, etc. After reading this chapter I am frustrated about the progression of the story, surprised/happy that Piers is a good guy in all the versions of this world and outraged that Ilyana was expelled.

John O'Connor

I've been thinking for a few weeks that Alessa is actually the one running the spy ring but I'm leaning another way now. I don't remember reading anything about her mother but I'm willing to bet she was a foreigner who passed her sympathies onto Alessa and it is entirely possible she is alive somewhere running the entire operation. I wouldn't be surprised if she's someone we have met already as well.

Tarmandan

Ah, but we did need some setup for Tori to *really* be angry at Alessa this time. And at Guthry, who directly is part of the reason the school collapsed. Tori always was defensive and/or soft to their lot before. I would be very, very surprised she will be this time. The content of the chapter of course was uncomfortable, but I believe this to be one of the most important turning points because I don't think Tori will be able to be forgiving in any way now that she knows some of how the game played out.

Emby

First time here? Authors been slipping of late

dave hutch

I'm kind of annoyed. I enjoyed the chapter but I wish you had chose a different point to release it.

Dave Quitit

Well, I get Tori would come out of that with Ilyana worries but Ilyana is at Duel hosting a dozen imperial knights. Can't think of anything likely to get through that bunch.

lenkite

Sad. The [Dream] chapter took the entire story. But Who knows - that [Dream Timeline] might even be the [Real Timeline] and the one Tori occupies is just what Victoria dreams about.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Voting with my wallet, peace out.

Empty Shelf

Interesting. So the version of Tori we see here had her heart in the right place, but didn't have the experience or maturity to handle the game's machinations. Poor girl.

twentytoo

It all makes sense now

Brett Hayes

*sigh* I hate chapters like these in books. The nightmare what might have been chapter. To me they are just page/word count padding and a time waster, as they do nothing to move the plot forward. Since Wednesday night I have been looking forward to the story moving forward... and instead... My apologies if you take this personally, it is just my opinion on such chapters.

I almost regret reading day to day. Woo almost gave me a heart attack! Loved the chapter tho!

Mike

something is really wrong with Alessa and I hope somehow Tori can help Victoria

Mike

Good chapter but reading about what happened to Ilyana was hard

saganatsu

alternatively, ... was used to getting her way ..., but the context is about her behavior when she was denied, so I'd go with the first

saganatsu

"Second, Victoria wasn’t used to getting her way, as her family spoiled her" -> ... wasn't used to not getting her way ...
