Mistress Araenidae

I had thought the same lol.

Lou Gar

No, don't think so. She was in favor of those.

Lou Gar

Hmm, Tom has been ghosted. After all, when was the last time she spoke to him? He has been working away at a good job, that he quit, to run to her side without her doing anything at all. It would not surprise me if she had completely forgotten him...

Everybody! I think I know what the favor was. I bet Tori asked the king to cancel Piers "dates" with those women.

Nobody

His name was Otis, his company is still around, and he did it for both at the World's Fair repeatedly

Alessa seems to be more on the "dark empathy" side of things, a skilled manipulator who takes joy in making other people's lives worse... such as people born into better situations like, say, the children of higher nobility, government officials, and royalty. Once they're destroyed she's done with them. The reaction to the pope's son leaving was likely genuinely panicked because he was getting out of her reach unscathed. The agent idea was more of her being a willing acomplse of Cowboy who thinks she's more important to his scheme than she really is

Kelan

I actually think she is simply a narcissistic person rather than some more nefarious/sinister character. I mainly think this because so far all characters have followed the game’s lore to an extent and alessa, being the main character, did not have any lore of that nature once the game was completed etc (i could be mistaken tho). At first i thought she had some form of bipolar disorder because of how often her moods would change, however, these mood swings and personality changes are way too convenient and manipulative, which leads me to believe she is simply a narcissist (which is not a rare thing in people who have been spoiled extensively in their childhood)

MrrC

True but she is not actively seeking him out. She just protects him and helpfully publicly embarrassed tori. Plus he was useful in attempting to destroy tori's shop. He's a useful "cats paw"

Tarmandan

If I remember correctly people were very quick to invent working elevators at the dawn of the electric age or even before during the steam fueled industrial age. It did however take someone inventing safety measures that stop an elevator from falling in case of mechanical failure before they actually became common. And by the time the guy invented such a system trust in elevators was so low he had to let himself be elevated to an absolutely deadly height and cut the ropes to show it works. Or he just did that because it would be a good marketing stunt either way

Dave Quitit

I will offer this as a counterpoint. That wackjob peasant appears to still be following her around, and thus far he's been about as useful as a three dollar bill.

Sdff

@Tjark edited the error 😅

Nobody

You notice how as soon as they stop having useful connections Alessa ghosts them? I get the feeling she's gonna turn out to be some kind of agent, probably a fall-girl for the cow man should his mission/scheme fall apart.

Silvermane177

There was a disturbing amount of death flags there on Kasey ... Hope he stays safe.

Sierra Saldierna

I honestly thought it was her crystal abilities unconsciously going off- similar to crystals cracking in her presence when she's upset as we've seen in the past with Axton and the headmaster's secretary. But you do raise a valid possibility. I'm just not entirely sure that's the direction the author is steering this story in.

Tjark

Victoria*, Antonia is her mother.

Sdff

The droning headache was the most throw away, yet intriguing thing for me. Tori got headaches in the past for trying to remember Victoria's memories. Yet now the second that she tries to remember her Earth memories, and devise how to keep her "game" family safe the headaches come. It almost seems like one of two things is actually supposed to be triggering the headaches: either A. the headaches are triggered by any action that tries to deviate from the "script," or B. Tori's new presence has acclimated into the "world system" and it's rejecting her previous life now trying to force her to become a "modified Victoria." and not the fusion of Tori and Victoria that she's sort of always wanted to be

That Boy Lenin

I think it could be one of three things; imperial approval to create her own order of knights in Cosora, a similar agreement like with the marches that she’ll never have to pay taxes provided the money is reinvested into the county, or an agreement to strip Alessa of her barony at some point in the future.

Eb

For maximum villain points: rights to collect a toll on the trade route to Anlar that the golden cow and Miller Inn are so invested in.

Rachel

Gd, that picture cracked me up. Well done!

Brett Hayes

now that Tori is 'the bodyguard... I cant wait for the scene where she princess carries Gideon! *starts belting out 'and I, will always love you-ooooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo'*

nugitoBambino

maybe she's an ambassador or something? could give her back freedom and keep the delta

Luckbox

I was right about the elevator!

S. Nutter

I still want to know what she is being paid. I want to say the price of the purchase of her new property and remodel, but feel it has to be even more than that. I just can't think of anything else.

Alexandra

I desperately need to know what favor Tori finangled from the Emperor cause it sounds JUICY and important.
