It's inspired by a character in one of the Animatrix shorts (the Beyond one if you wanted to look it up). It had been almost twenty years since I watched any of those movies and wanted to refresh my memory before diving into the latest sequel this weekend. I'm surprised how much I still enjoy The Matrix! I thought all the violence would bother me, but nope; still all cartoony and cool. And I personally felt all the designs/effects still held up (especially the bots). Maybe there's some actual Matrix art from me in the future. We'll see.
Anyways, here's a quick 60-second time-lapse of the above drawing so you can see the wacky metamorphosis it took. At one point I gave her a sword and a skateboard before ultimately returning to my original vision of a girl somewhat floating above a pool of water.

Yeah, I thought those shorts really increased the possibility of the world the Wachowskis created. Great stuff. And ultimately what made the newest film (which I watched over the weekend) all the more disappointing.

This is so cool! Animatrix is my favorite Matrix movie. I need to give it a rewatch.
